I took minstrel as my first job, but I have no idea how to put it to use or what exactly to do.

Also same goes for my other job, linguist, no idea how to work it.

The obvious ones, miner and such, find appropriate node, and collect, but I again I have no idea how to use the two jobs I have taken so far.

Unless I am confusing Minstrel with another job skill, it's based on the Bard Song ability. It's used by going to one of the areas where an Minstrel instructor is and using Bard song. XP is awarded based on the perform roll. (And I think you may have a bonus if there are other PCs about to serve as an audience.)

Linguist is either using the Job Log book on creatures to observe their behaviors (I have no idea which ones, I haven't found any yet) or by researching artifacts by putting them in a researcher's desk with paper to record findings.
