During bio modification I find it very helpful to set up a text macro on the first quickbar with /s f_bio B as the command, to get those linebreaks done quickly.
Throw a few paragraphs in your bio and you can see where it breaks up the lines.
Then, you can just put those in their own f_bio A line and it goes together seamlessly, and you can visually avoid the character limit.
You can even set up your text window to the same size as the IG bio window, so you can see pretty much exactly how it will appear in the bio as you type.
All of the commands can be found by opening your Journal (hotkey J) and looking under the Character Maintenance tab.
