Still not worth the feats or AB you lose. You are forgetting that a Ranger/AA implies -more- Ranger levels and less AA levels, otherwise its even more pointless.
What your looking at with a BoE Ranger/AA is at least 21 Ranger levels. Ergo 2 levels over to Bard and 7 for AA.
Opposing that is the Bard/Fighter/AA 18/8/4
7 AA nets you +4 AB/Damage
17AA nets you +9 AB/Damage
So in effect the difference is +11 damage vs everything and +5AB versus everything traded in for +5 damage +2d6 +2 AB versus favoured enemies and a pet.
The 21 pet will come to late to be of any help other than an RP device.

Ofcourse a Ranger/AA is not the optimal damage or AB build, but it is still good, even the Ranger 10/Bard 2/AA 18 variant. Fighter/Bard/AA is better in terms of feats and damage, hands down, but the ranger variant is decent and works well enough in any party.
Speaking of which, is it possible to get Dev crit into a Ranger 10/bard2/18 AA, starting with wood elf subrace and still not gimp AB too much?

Yarp. Go for it. I might personally go Ranger9/AA19/Bard2 as it's already awfully featy.

1 Ranger level for 1 AA level? I guess it depends. The AA is + 1 ab and +1 damage. But the 10 ranger gives another epic bonus feat? Depends on the build, the Ranger might be better I think, trade 1 ab and damage for something like epic spot or what not?

Also wondering on how important the ability at detect traps are on the higher levels. I'm making a Ranger/assassin that also invest heavily in the normal thief skills, but to my understanding I need to throw in a level of rogue to make him able to detect traps of 35 DC and higher, ie: epic traps. Now, what i ahd planned was something like Ranger 9/Assassin 10/fighter 1 in pre-epic, so the question is wether 1d6 sneaks, being able to detect, disarm, recover and set epic traps is worth loosing a feat and 1 BAB.

Player-set traps are so hard to detect that you'd need a gearset built around it, which is outright lunacy compared to stocking up on Lens of Detections.
Bizarrely, everyone can recover traps, but only Rogues can disarm the few 35 DC ones that are flagged that way. Recovering is 10 DC higher, but give it's usually a take 20 thing, that's not an issue.
You can get the 1d6 Sneak off a couple of items, so I would go Fighter.

So in terms of dungeon crawling, the rogue level is not needed to handle traps?

Sneaker's stab stab stab in your back and fight dirty. I can see a noble paladin of Yondalla with a code of honor in duels etc etc. Or the classic bard archetypus.
Hard to give advice without a bit more information about the concept.

Or get that duelist's dagger, then you'll get at least a bump in AC.

Doesn't replace the AC lost from not using a shield. AC bonus on weapon is Deflection AC, meaning if you wear the Cloak of Fortification (+4 AC, +4 Universal saves) you get absolutely nothing out of it.

You mention Rapier yourself and on a haffy/gnome that means using both hands and getting good damage aswell. Could work on a STR based char. Then theres the monk issue: using one Kama you still get all the extra attacks and you dont have -2 AB or to spend 3 feats in dual wielding, since you just use 1 weapon, could work I think. I'm way too lazy to click over at subraces but I'm prety sure some of them little fellows gets extra AC aswell.

I'd just go STR heavy fighter with WM and 2 rogue to bag all damage you can and hope you kill everything in PvM before it kills you. Bard/Monk/DivineShield is the only way to get some AC, or go DEX all the way.

Okay, I'm at an impasse with my level 8 Monk. I'm going at least 20 level of Monk with him, unarmed only, and he's LN. I just got to level 8 and I do not know what feat I want to pick. Here's his current setup:
Stats STR 16 DEX 13 CON 15 INT 10 WIS 14 CHA 10
Skills (base ranks) Concentration: 5 Discipline: 11 Heal: 11 Listen: 5 Lore: 11 Tumble: 11
Feats (just what I picked) Blind-Fight Dodge Toughness Weap Focus (unarmed strike)
I am pretty sure that is it. Also, I know I gimped him a little with the Listen 5, but I apparently wasn't thinking at the time >< I'm not sure where I really want to take him. He's going to be 20 Monk for sure. I was considering 4 Fighter (pre epic) for the BAB assistance and Weap Spec, but I dunno where to go after that.
So, questions: 1) What feat should I pick at level 9?
2) Thinking about Monk 20/Fighter 4. Unsure if I should, or what level spread I should go with.
Thanks!

I've always made an effort to grab Improved Critical with any meleer.. Resist Energy X is used by some, though I'm not a huge fan.. Skill focuses are always helpful.

Great fort at level 9, imp crit at level 12, as you can't get it earlier on a monk. After that it's taking the feats you like really. There are no other feats that help your fists and your int is too low to grab disarm.

Returning to Amia with a fresh character concept and I was wondering. Which is the best class for a Necromancer Wizard Sorcerer Or Cleric If it is pertinent I'd like her to be along the Chaotic Neutral line If somebody was keen on listing the pro and cons of each class, i'm all ears

Hmm I was thinking of Imp Crit, but that just makes his fists 19/20. Which is better, yes, but dunno if it is 'worth' it.
What Skill Focuses would you recommend for a Monk?
Also, ideas on the level spread?

Improved Critical is worth it on pretty much any melee build. Besides that, you don't really have many options as a monk with lower than 14 INT. Might as well pick up both that and Great Fortitude.
Non-epic Skill Focus feats are only usually worth burning on if you don't have any of the essentials. When they are taken, it tends to be on sneaking (Hide or Move Silently), or detection (Spot or Listen). Even then, though, eh. There's almost always a better feat that could be taken.

It's really more what style Necromancer you want. Personally, I'd say a pure sorc that wears black would be your best bet.

Unsure how to beef up the AB tho... It will stay on ~43-42.. Which by amia standards is mediocre. But on the Bright side! Gonna have loads of ac!

I have never played it, but I built one and it seemed like it would be fun to play. Lots of options, powerful and not a complete stupid-power-build. That said, you could go for a 21 Barb/7 WM/2 Rogue. Pretty low on feats, but a helluva cannon.

I'm considering making a Blackguard, and was considering ~22 levels in the class (that way I get the last epic feat in the class), with the other classes being 6 ftr / 2 rog, intending to use a bastard sword. Does anyone have any advice? Should I go more BG? I'm trying to be as BG as possible without sacrificing playability. I need at least one rogue for the mandatory umd/tumble dump, and at least six levels are gone getting the pre-reqs.

There is the extremely seldom used 17 barbarian/10 rdd/3 bard. Good for laughs. Bard song while enraged = death metal. Otherwise you could try something entirely different. 24 barbarian/4 sd/2 fighter. A sly shadowjumping berserker. Personally I would try 21 barbarian/5 druid/4 bard. RP wise it would be sweet to be a part of the wild, you and your low level companion hanging about the bush, occasionally shifting into a badger to eat a bug or two, being in touch with the beast within. Then you shift into a boar, make a few funny sounds and let the rage get to you. Change back into human shape, grease your opponents, cast bulls strength, protection from elements and blood frenzy before you lose your temper and charge into the group of necromancers in Tarkuul, while screaming a song to bolster your defenses, tricking the necromancers to think you're the frontman of Opeth on a bad day. When you have wiped out the entire Tarkuul, you and your animal companion, who is a fish called Wanda, wander back into Amia forest, to write a song about your epic deeds. I have never played a barbarian, mind you. You should be able to tell by the suggested builds that are "different".

Hmm, 4 bard gives you stonesong, but you could also make it 21 barb/6 druid/3 bard, to be able to switch to the beloved swine two times per day. Rememeber the spike growth spell! You will slow them and get to hunt them down easier. A strategic barbarian/noob shaman.

Oh, right, forgot about the maximum 10 pre-epic rule. And yeah, I saw what they did when I was looking up the BG to check the pre-reqs. Any suggestions then? 19 BG seems the alternative (10 pre-epic, 9 epic leaving a rogue level for tumble/umd).
