I was wondering if the official timeline would be kept up to date with events? It's a useful tool, and I'd imagine it'd be easier to keep it updated than have to backlog it all (I seem to remember Iron having great difficulties there).

also i've been told amia sticks to the original timeline story but since then i've discovered it really doesn't after a certain date, anyone wanna clarify that a little?

Clarification is easily found if you actually go read the thing.
Yes, it will be kept up to da with events. The year is 1379 and we'll be updating it and then moving into 1380 D.R.

We're ignoring canon FR, and running our own timeline. AFAIK, no gods are going to be killed.

No problem. But yep, it has big nice marker after... 1373? 1372? That basically says "Here ends canon realms". There's some notes at the end of the timeline that explain the differences more deeply as well. Lady Pentinent never happened, ad only the first book of Last Mythal happened. So Myth Drannor is still in ruins, in our timeline.

Its always been there ... you can check the Amia wiki and read back through as revisions, because it's in there also, and the post has simply been copy/pasted (with some ongoing formatting revision) into the wiki.

Updated 1378 and added the year so far in 1379 to my best recollection.

Can I give one suggestion for both the official timeline and the wiki one? Could the events that take place on Amia itself be bolded? Other than playing old Baldur's Gate and the NWN campaigns, I know nothing about Forgotten Realms. Reading place names and comparing it to the map I'm completely lost.. then I see "Waterdeep" or whatever and realize that the events I'm reading about probably are on the mainland, not Amia, so no wonder I can't find it on the map. This little distinction would greatly help any new players, trust me. I really REALLY like having both histories in the timeline, but because I'm such a noob I can't tell where anything is unless it's on the map (like until I saw Winya Ravana in the locations forum I thought it was on the mainland).

Looking at the map, something I never really thought evident when in game became quite lucid. Cordor since its destruction and rebuilding, it's now a set of islands. Though at the same time, what is considered Cordor North and West are still on Mainland Amia. Fascinating. I had no point, just remarking.

That canal is where the earthquake tremor and faultline split, and filled in with water. Somewhere at the bottom of those chasms lies old Cordor. I've changed the timeline: Italicized comments refer to Amia specific events, and normal text is faerunian/mainland. I've also added a few notations to old events circa 1374-1376 DR Amia, re: Khem.

Just out of curiosity, why does Amia time line not follow Forgotten Realms? Wouldn't it be easier and less confusing to follow one that is established? This is no argument for or against, I'm just curious why.

I honestly thought it was because Amia actually PREDATES all those events and, after reading some, the spellplague alone would have been horrible to even attempt ingame. I could be wrong though.
Frankly, I love where it split and I hate most of the events that happened after it in the core timeline. The whole thing just didn't make much sense to me. One could see where it would be nifty for books, but in an actual game setting... ick.

From the other pics, it's ~1.5 times bigger than Ruathym, the latter of which is ~190km across. This is end-to-end distance, of course.

hm... I might go through and map out the underdark in a similar style. wouldnt be too odd of a priest of selvetarm to do so, would it? I suppose I'd have to divide up sections to others though, would be a ton of work to do it as one person..

i figured i'd set it up via layers, setting l'obsul top as the base point, and going through transitions to see how many layers i'd need, and how many places are alone in their heights. then divide them up in height groups.
only l'obsul as base and not edonil because it branches off to pretty much everywhere, though edonil caves branches quite a lot as well...
one question though, what do you mean by node map?

hm... posibility, and would actually probably make it a little easier... i was thinking of something a little more... visual though. the nodes represent location, but not geography at all. works for stars in a 3dimensional distribution, but how successful would it be with caves?
regardles, if i do go through with it, it wont be for a few weeks. still working full time, so i dont have time to waste. thats for when classes at my university start ;p

What I mean is, once you have the nodes, then dump the geography in - it will just be easier while you're still changing things

Are the interiors of buildings in another dimension? TARDIS syndrome.
I remember Disco remarking a few times that he sees Amia as the size & climate of Ireland. Is this considered true by the whole team?

It's not entirely that simple. Take for example the Forest of Despair.
The area around it is smaller than the forest itself, then in the forest there's the temple of Malar as well as the arcane grove. The grove contained the tower, too.
So, there are quite a few scales involved. The area around the forest is a bigger scale than the forest, which is a smaller scale to the grove, which is a smaller scale to interior. Though I suppose there's no tower there, so it's not worth mentioning, but still it's not as simple as 30ft per tile to 10ft per tile.
Amia Forest is another that is a pain in the rear. It changes scale inside the forest to the area around it.

Any chance of ever getting a dungeon map? Somewhere that labels dungeons and a suggested level range? I find I get stuck a lot with no idea where to go next.

I never really fussed over it. If that's how the area designer makes his areas, then it sounds just fine to me.

Anything to push people in the right direction. It seems the common theme is to encourage to ask people IC, but I have a hard time going up to someone and going "Hey, I wanna go kill stuff. I'm level 20, btw." without it sounding ridiculous.

"Hey, I've killed minotaurs before, and Minogons are really easy. Fighting Asabi Lizardmen in KHem gives me trouble. Know anywhere else that won't kill me?"
