Alright, guys, it's starting to really drain on my nerves.

If you want to break a law, you have two choices;

A - Wait until a PC Guard is in the area (As a sub for NPC Guards)
B - Ask a DM.

If you can meet neither parameter; go to an area that is designated for that sort of RP, such as Cordor: South.

Minor, itty bitty little things can be ignored, of course, within common sense. But anything serious (Such as banned people walking around areas they are barred from without supervision; disguise or not) will result in the loss of either levels, XP, or equipment (epic loot inclusive).

You've been warned. Grab a DM/PC Guard, or keep it to the designated areas (Such as Cordor: South)

Cordor:South, is sadly filled with guards to which people can utter "don't metagame the guards" and kill that sort of rp.

The guard increase happened as a result of an old dm event that never was completed(It's been rl months), and the extra guards that are nearly everywhere in the South, have remained.

So perhaps... 'under' Cordor South?

(Hinting that I'd love for Cordor:South to return to it's original purpose, and the excess guards removed, if they're not going to be used in a plot anymore)

Ty :)

I'd also present an idea for a third choice, making it possible to attack the guards? (Not saying anything about power-level here, it'd be a gamble if the player can defeat them or not)
I'd just think the above is preferable to immortal/invulnerable/engines of metagame claims that ruin all sorts of possible rp. Simple script? Player A attacks player B, Guard Faction sets to hostile towards (player A) first attacking character. (unless they have a pc-guard insignia item...)

(The above idea obviously would not apply to 'start' areas, such as Cordor:East or similar no-pvp points.) ..unless they were really really uber... "It's over 9,000!"

Actually Alkor, the reason Cordor South was mentioned in the original post was that had been written before the guard recently poured into the area.

Thus, at that time yes it was ICly an appropriate trouble zone.

A mixture of things have prompted the situation to be as it is now though.

And, I think honestly if you get a Dm they would likely be amenible to possessing the guards so you can have your shot at killing guards, if you have more of a reason then just 'Rawr me kill guardz' ..

the problem with this is the whole take it outside thing, up to the kobolds is cordor, unless you wanna brawl in the festival grounds and I think thats pvp safe area aswell...

but thats not the problem, the problem is people purposely try to bug you, and make you want to carve them up, and you can't because they are in a pvp safe zone. i've seen people emoting things that would probably get them arrested if a guard was there (unfortunatly meaning if a DM is online.)

last time I ever step in the water in the square thats for sure XD.

also the increased guard presence is probably ICly right considering where certain bats came from. (recently)

It's true I'll admit to talking a lot of smack about the guards while they are around. I still think they wouldn't do much to me if I'm not committing a crime. Please correct me if I am wrong.

you only need to show the guard your face, helmets arn't fully illegal.

also I never got an answer to "is killing a familiar in cordor illegal"

IUf your justification for doing something is "But the rules don't say I CAN'T!" then you probably shouldn't do it.

looks like Ron might have to clean the topic again soon, I only bumped it so we could get clear info on how Faction base guards count for metagaming.

lets say the temple of Skeletor throws a person in its jail and no DM is on how does that work or effect it.

1.person or people cant try and force a escape till a DM is on to play the guards unless the PCs say its ok be it braking in or braking out?

2.Guards are treated as asleep on the job so if you can brake out some how its the PCs problem to stop him?

because I notice alot of people taking others to thier jail or locking them up and knowing abit more might help with some OOC drama.

yes the goblin thing.

and being a wizard its not unlikely a thing to say ICly, i'm pretty sure I said "vampires?!" before I said "its someones familiar but who..."

but whatever this is going nowhere. I assume a flat no you can't kill the familiars which are also illegal themselves. barring perhaps ravens which has been asked in the lore thread.

again did I name names, and again, i'm dissapointed in the forums. RPly I should have just ganked it and got banned from cordor possibly. and I think thats my questions answered.

(ninja removal again, tis not specifics...)

I'm getting tired of having to clean this thread.

Re; Cordor: South. it was set to No PvP and filled with guards because it was long since demonstrated that it was a bad idea to have a PvP Area there. Made zero IC Sense (given how often people go caught down there, or tried murdering guards that were called to help, etc), and OOCly was being abused.

That isn't likely to change.

Re; Faction Areas. You capture someone, you provide them with RP. You capture someone and leave them there for NPCs, they probably aren't going to be interested in staying and twiddling their thumbs. Faction Guards are not Omnipotent or Amazing. Same rule that applies to city guards applies here. If you capture someone, you provide them with roleplay as in locking them away you're preventing them from finding their own.

Re; Familiars/Companions.

Quote:
• Familiars/Animal Companions/Summons.
Must always be kept outside the stonewall gates. Undead beings are not permitted with Cordor's limits in any fashion or manner and will be dismissed immediately. You are responsible for unsummoning all creatures accompanying you. This law does not apply to trade animals (oxen, horses), domestic animals (cats, dogs), and birds.

From PC Story, Cordorian Laws. Bats, Ravens, Hawks, and other non-magical avians are fine.

I'm not going to bother explaining possible alternatives or seeking to find a solution to a problem in this thread, as it's seemingly overlooked at surface-value, will likely get deleted in the end anyway, and would take awhile including providing the motivation's explanation and counter-arguments whilst weeding through flames. Perhaps in a new thread or PM's. Needless to say it's -not- 'rawr me kill guardz' at all, and shouldn't be confused as a possible motivation.

On current situation:

Pretty sure this is the deal... You take someone prisoner and toss em in jail, you provide RP for them. If you just leave em there with no one to RP with, then how can you expect them to stay? If I was taken prisoner, and just left to rot without anyone to interact with, I'd be out of there in a heartbeat. Its a matter of good form folks. Provide the entertainment that was provided to you, or dont put people in jail.

Roadwardens in Amia Forest. I've seen the amount of stuff that goes on right infront of them without much consideration to their value as NPC Guards. As a genuine question to settle this, how should Roadwardens (in general) be treated?

Yeah.

What the fakk? Are they guards or not? They seem COMPLETELY oblivious that there's people Hellballing And Burning Ruins everywhere around them on a DAILY basis

Sorry. All the information I've read via Search seems to conflict with other information, between DMs to make things worse. Now I'm asking as a question, are they NPC guards or are they not? It's a simple question and the answer is not as readily available as your trolling bullcrap suggests. I have a querie relevant to the server rules regarding NPC guards. Answer it.

seriously though.. the name roadwarden suggests nothing even close to a guard... I'll make it easy for you... In RL a roadwarden is akin to a park ranger, or a guide... I'd say if you eff with the animals, theyd kick your arse. as far as man to man fights, prolly just laugh at you... DM correct me if I'm wrong

Warden literally means guardian. Roadwarden - Guardian of the road. It's not such a hard thing to come to the conclusion that - these guys must be the authority. I won't press it any further, the DMs say these guys are essentially just a resource dump. While it seems utterly retarded to you that anyone would see a Roadwarden as a guard, to me, it seems utterly retarded that a Roadwarden would be seen as anything 'but' a guard.

Just because I work with park rangers everyday.. they defiantly do more than just protect animals, some are historians, translators, law enforcement, and EMTs.

asked peeves? i think, yesterday, if forest is pvp safe zone, he said no, therefore the roadwarden are not the guard.

this does not mean willow will not bust you down if you start exploding things however. and RP is still required.

this is getting far too long a discussion, everyone chill. also i'd like to ask if shadowscape has any laws, there are guard, can't see no laws.

I've heard some people have been using the mortuary and inner parts of the Temple of Velsharoon who are not part of the Clergy, Doing such is metagaming the Guards. I'd like to ask you to stop it, or a DM to watch it more, either one works. Thanks.

I've heard that you are attempting to take control of the guards and tell people what they would do. Doing such is metagaming the guards. I'd like to ask you to stop it, or ask ICly as to why you do not have control of the guards like you think you do. Thanks.

Clarification: Since your glorious "return", the guards in your temple do not listen to your commands and have not. They will not throw people out, they will not report to you, they aren't subservient to you.

Therefore, these people are generally free to continue using the mortuary.

I don't like gurads in general. I'll obey the rules, but it just seems that the places that are guarded by npcs are inpenetrable. I don't like that. Not being able to infltrate an opposing factions base is kinda lame just because there are guards at the door.

Why not make some of these guards fight back when attacked? Make them really powerful, and it wouldn't have to require a DM to get past some guards.

Everything is so much smoother and there is far less crying from either side when a DM oversees an infiltration. I'm all for keeping it like it is.

Too many things beyond combat NPC's can't keep track of on their own... for example, everything.

You don't see a problem with shameless, roleplayless numbers determining the fate of a faction that probably roleplayed more than your mindlessly grinding powerbuilding ass did? (as an example: Do not read this as if I'm actually speaking to you.)
