I think the lad in Wiltun should give you one of them, rather than a few Light Wounds bottles.
Your XP/hour must be utterly miserable, Selvec. Expertise at level 4 vs Trolls with their Regen? Hell no.

Go efficiency! Down with stubbornness and egocentric wannabees!
Btw, shouldn't Trolls hit through the 5/+1 reduction Ghostly Visage provides? (The 10% concealment still remains, of course.)

The didn't when I was doing there, so I assumed they weren't supposed to.

It is, but my play philisophy is rarely ever "Play to Win". I like to explore and have grand quests. Some of the most enjoyable rp's I have ever taken part in have been low level treks into area's with Challenging to Impossible level creatures. Most of them have been completely PC driven also.

I would argue that with Expertise, you gain five points of AC and that makes quite a bit of difference at lower levels. There are times that you don't need it, particularly if you use a shield or heavy armour, but in those cases where it does keep you alive you should probably have enough STR to overcome the -5 to attack.

And then it turns off midround because you stepped 3 inches and you get hit and get hit and you die and get eaten.

I'd rather wait for a good party than waste feats. You take dirty fighting too for lower levels?
You can explore without gimping your char.

Expertise on a barbarian doesn't sound good imo.
Unless going for WM I guess... rather tough with the number of feats.

Not to mention I never said it was a good build.
Which is why I immediatly rebuilt the character and did exactly the same thing WITHOUT expertise. So nyeh!
But it was basically an example of how using different tactics can achieve the same result. The "Rush head on" tactic isn't always the best.

Never built a WM myself, mind that lapse. Anyhow, theres a fine line getting pretty much useless feats as class requirement or getting them to gimp your char. The RP argument for exploring doesnt fly when someones even rebuilding.
But Selvec is right differnt tactics can be used in many situations. Are they efficient? Not always.

If you take Expertise then you take that risk. Generally though if you're a frontline or solo fighter using Expertise you're not going to need to move unless you need to attack a ranged opponent. So long as you actually click to attack that enemy though, Expertise ought to stay turned on when changing target. If it doesn't you can mash the hotkey button while your character is running to stab that annoying archer in the face.

Yes, a brand new area in Caraigh! Again! Get your low-B fix here! Misty potions as quest "p"rewards! Awesome landscapes, awesome people, and even more awesome everywhere!
Are you ready for the all-new Bdventure!?
Let's rock the party ball!
@Disco, in the south west corner of the new area, there is a camp fire floating above a cliff. And the area could use a climatic ending, imho. Maybe move the orc slightly and give him some dialogue with options like "free, kill, interrogate, ignore" with no big consequences, but simply for the experience of having interacted with an Orc in some other way than combat? When lowbies go there, they might have never seen an Orc before.
Regards, Ts
PS: Yes, this was partially a bump.
PPS: No, this thread is not about expertise.

Was on B for better part of an hour and not once did anyone under level 10 log in, i kept logging out to check their level. BOGUS... Kinda hard to level thataways ya know.. Completelt alone level 4... sure I can kill things in 1 hit most the time.. but therei s 6-8 in a spawn thats even 2hitting me each round for 4-5...
I tried using those belts but because the goblin/wolf spawns are varied. they have archers (piercing) casters (magic) smashers (bludgeoning) wolves (slashing) Hard to wear the right belt for the job

Ghostly potions. No belt even needed. Though it's a bonus.

Buy 1 then, and use it right as you start fighting. Keep fighting until it runs out, then leave, and you should be able to buy a handful, and maybe a gear item.
That's how I did it.

If you've already accepted the "People under the Stairs" quest, you're out of luck, but otherwise you now get 3 potions of ghostly visage (2), I believe. That's not a lot (only 6 minutes in total), but it can get you started, and is a good pointer at what you should buy a.s.a.p. ;) Re: GreatPigeon wrote: Was on B for better part of an hour and not once did anyone under level 10 log in
I know perfectly how that feels. But the point of this thread is to make things better. So don't lose faith just yet. :)
By the way, I don't think a job is the best solution because job ranks are valuable and lowbie levels pass one way or another ... ;)
And, good news everyone, about 7 people RPed in Nesek yesterday, including one level 5.

You need to find the boy that hides somewhere in the fortress. It's not very hard to find him, but the quest can be dangerous when you're by yourself, as always.

It's not dangerous if you use one of the potions he gives you. You get that before going downstairs to complete the quest. I got a stack of 5 potions BTW.

Oh? *blames his memory* I only did it once after it was changed. So those potions are (checks CL list) 3 minutes each. 15 minutes of ghostly visage in total should definitely get you started! Go, B!

Oh my goodness ... even more new things to discover on B! Nothing beats running into an area you think you know very well, finding a planar rift, and *bam* you're ... at the same spot! Or are you? Thanks, even if it's been like that for a few weeks now!
And I need to check out yet another new lowbie area. Hurrah!

I started playing Amia A when it was busy and switched to Amia B when it became insane and I had a few friends want to join in.
We started characters on Amia B and found the new goblin area on my second character.
Yes the is not as much diversity for low levels on B, but it is still very good. I personally like the "jobs" availability and accessibility there -- another source of valuable early experience and fun for later.

It all happened so fast, Mr. officer!
I didn't notice the goblin on his back. I just saw "Orc rider/raider?" and killed it. (Reset was in 20 seconds.) The very first time I was there I didn't even notice the fighting orc, and wondered why there was a drugged Orc. So now I wondered if you had changed anything. That's also the explanation for my comment about that drugged Orc being anti-climatic a few posts up. I just missed the climax ...
