More than fine. I personally prefer caster cleric.
My reason is that when you do the maths the difference in a caster's melee and a melee's melee ability is less than the difference in caster's casting and a melee's casting.
Also nothing worse than partying with a cleric who can't give you a single f'n buff because they need to use them all themself or who can't pack a heal or raise dead, etc.

I'm trying to understand how to use the new forum format. Seems most everyone is still posting in this topic rather than making separate topics for build questions, even posts that have builds fully detailed.
I thought the idea behind making a separate forum for builds was that these build ideas would be separated out into individual topics for ease of searching etc.
Am I missing something?
If I have a build idea kind of sketched out, just the rough concept, should I post in this thread to discuss it? And only make a separate topic after it's been played to prove the concept.
tl;dr: Are the individual posts just for the super excellent "check out this awesome build"? And not for working on a build concept?
This topic will be closed soon(ish) I believe, so the other format will be what is left/exists. People are just likely used to the old method, for now, is all.

Hm, I see. Not a bad idea to close this unwieldy thread.
I really do like the idea of separate threads for individual build concepts, should make it much easier to search.
But I wonder if the forum will become too cluttered with random question threads...I think a 'general questions' thread like in GD is useful to allow posts about minor points and clarifications that don't really need an individual thread. A good compromise.
Not a clue, the new pages aren't really geared f or that. I say just pm one of the build monkeys.

Hi there. May I please inquire from the experts. In a one on one duel.
1) Contender A: Babarian/Fighter/ Rogue. STR based With all the rages, umd, tumble dump etc and standard, assuming earth genasi, eq vs
2) Contender B: Dex based rogue/fighter/ weapon master. With Epic dodge, weapon specialization, sneak attacks, improv crit from weaponmaster etc, tumble dump umd, assuming chultan etc.
Assuming both had access to pots, true strike, mind black, heals etc Who would win?
B, 99% of the time.
Though, a smart barbarian could close the gap. Haste+Ferocity basically = 3 attacks at full strength. First gets eaten by epic dodge. So you've got 2 and 3 with a chance. Not a huge chance, since the WM AC will probably be at least 71. But, if you time the True Strike potion right, you can get it on at least two of those attacks, if not three or even your fourth.
Keeping a summons up will also help eat that epic dodge. The WM HP will not be all that great, so with good crits you could win.
My PM/Barb usually comes to a draw w/ the WM/F/R, without TS, because it takes foreeeeeever and we always give up. Most standard barb builds, though, will lose most of the time without TS. Dev Crit will also help, since you're basically having to crit to hit most of the time anyway.
Until Silke decides how he wants things, I'll just use this mess then!
How does DR actually work in NWN? What happens when you get it from multiple sources? Does my Epic Monk get benefit from the Ring of Protection and Prevention (DR +5 Soak 5, IIRC)? Does it conflict at all with their class granted DR? Is only one used but not the other, or are they used in the situatuons that apply to them without issue?

The highest value is used. The 20/+1 from Perfect Self will not stack with 5/+5 from an item, but it won't conflict. For example:
If you're struck with a +5 weapon, nothing will be absorbed.
If someone strikes you with a +4 (or lower) weapon, you will absorb 5 physical damage due to the ring.
If someone strikes you with a +0 weapon (unenchanted), Perfect Self will absorb 20 physical damage. Perfect Self is valuable for countering Mindflayer (Shifter), because the physical damage from Mass Concussion does not have a enh/ab value. It's treated as +0, as with all physical damage spells, and Barricade of Swords.
It does work against PCs, it's hilarious! Epic Smiter Paladin29/Cleric1 with the Good and Sun domains was good for a laugh against the tides of tieflings and genasi. You'd need a DC of 60 or above for your Turn to effectively more than terrify your enemies, which frankly is impossible. I'm not sure if Spell Resistance can be reduced to a negative score by means of Mordy or Nature's Balance, for example, but even if it can, I'd still be very sceptical if it lowered the Turn Resistance* to a negative score to reduce the Turn DC. The only way to find out would be to test it in game. I didn't study the mechanics of Turn Undead now, but I'm sure you can make sense of the Wiki article.
It's a fun ability and even somewhat useful. I can remember some talk about a total rework to Turn Undead, but that's been put on ice now, methinks.
*Unsurprisingly, yet another oddity in the game mechanics. With regard to PCs, Turn Resistance simply means that Spell Resistance is added to the Turn DC. Thus having a fraction of Spell Resistance on gear is paramount to your oddball's survival against spooky pallies.

- Cleric 24 / Fighter 5 / Rog 1 a good starting point? - Zen Arch or any other way to get decent AB with melee weapon? - 16 Cha adequate for Div Might/Shield (+9 mod)? - 20 Wis? - Spell Focus for offensive spells or is Wis too low? Abj, Evoc, Conj?
Help with these basic questions will get me started. Thanks.
Undeath's Eternal Foe provides "immunity to negative energy damage, immunity to level/energy drain, immunity to ability score decreases, immunity to poisons, immunity to diseases and a +4 deflection bonus to AC."
On Amia that's been modified: "Immunity changed from standard 100% down to 50% + 5% per Spell Focus in Abjuration (55% for Spell Focus, 60% for Greater Focus, 65% for Epic Focus). AC bonus changed from Deflection to Natural and duration changed from Rounds/Level to Turns/Level."
- Does the 50% immunity reduction only apply to negative energy damage? How would it apply to level drain, poison, disease immunity?
- Cleric 24 / Fighter 5 / Rog 1 a good starting point?
Yes, also consider 28 Cleric 1 Ranger 1 Rogue. This is if you want to focus more on spell casting.

Zen Archery is fine, your ab is still very good with cleric. Go through the spell list and enjoy all the bonuses they get. Divine Power brings your pre-epic BAB to 20 instead of 16 if you went 4 fighter pre-epic or 15 if you went pure cleric. Bless 1, Aid 1, Divine Favor 5, GMW 5, Prayer 2, Battletide 2, These max out the +20 AB bonus you can get, which only 14 strength you get +8 str modifier, +1 WF, +2 EWF, 5 ab from epic levels, 15 BAB (or 16) 5 epic levels 8 Str mod 3 WFs 20 from spells and shit 51 AB with only 14 str, your ab rocks.

I prefer 10 myself for round numbers

Or more preferably

Focus on what your character would do not just pure wisdom. DC is kinda low for offensive unless you go caster

Also, looking at a half-orc warleader type. Fiddling around with bard/ftr/KC, but I'm unsure how much of which I need.
I'd like him to be more CHA heavy if possible, being a better supporter and leader than combatant, hence the inclusion of bard. Very gung-ho, 'lead from the front' type who takes a more primitive approach to morale raising. He's not the disciplined tactician who appeals to his men's sense of honour and obligation; rather he's the one tearing up the field bellowing a war chant, laughing and roaring and clapping his allies on the back mid-fight. The int and cha penalties obviously hurt, but I feel the fiery temper of a half-blood and the imposing physical presence go hand in hand with the concept, mechanics be damned.
Barbarian might fit the concept better, but I'm lead to believe that's pretty weak unless you invest serious levels to make the rages worthwhile, and I'd rather keep the bardic wit and magnetism at the cost of some combat ability.

Have you considered Orog? Heck it even works with half-orc 20 bard, 4 fighter, 5 KC <-- This is something I've been toying with to build. It is extremely tight on feats however. Like.. To tight!
EDIT: 24 Barbarian 5 KC 1 Rogue Half-Orc could have its merits as well

Is there such a thing as a decent Rogue/Wizard build, or is that daydreaming nonsense?
Yeah, 1Rogue/29Wizard would be fine.
(but 1bard/29wizard would be better)
Edit: On a more serious+helpful note, I PM'd you my favorite wizard build. It's a disgusting genasi powerbuild, though it'd work on just about any race. If you don't like the recommended spell foci, just swap 'em out.

1) Build wizard 2) Replace 27 or 28 or 29 with Rogue 3) ??? 4) PROFIT!
But, really, that's it. Wizard builds are relatively easy and straightforward, you're just changing 1 level which nets you skills and you only loose 1 CL which is more or less trivial. Works basically the same with rogue/bard/ranger (Bard nets you UMD, Tumble, and Discipline; Ranger only the Discipline; Rogue gets UMD, Tumble, and some skills like Open Lock/Disable Device if you really want those).

Yeah, if you don't like the SD route, you can go 27Wizard/2Rogue/1Ranger, which'll net you Disc/Tumble/Hide/MS and Evasion, and Armor+Shield feats for free.
First, I'm not sure about Dev Crit. I know about the Amia changes, and that feared (Terrifying Rage) enemies will not stay KDed. Though they can both be handy in the cases of fear immunities and Dev Crit not working. Thundering Rage was tossed in for added damage, but idk about it. I could swap one for Epic Fort, too. Lack of a shield will hurt, too, unless I ever want to try and get monkey grip.
Anything I can do to make this better? I'm not really good with barbarians.
I'd personally go with that same setup. Getting a decent Fort and Discipline will be relatively easy without the investment of epic feats into it thanks to UMD. Damage is the bestest and Terrifying Rage is thematically fun, although in reality it's a pain in the butt with all the squishy critters making you jog for their bounties.

Well! As I mentioned in the Confessions thread I have a horrible problem with leveling up and selecting spells/feats. I've figured everything out but the last feat for my character.
Fluff info: She is a 30th Level Bard with some choices of feats. She was a little bit "starved" of feats during her early levels since she needs so much.

She is Listen-focused and does have ESF:Listen (I don't know how Hide in Plain Sight works against that, or Blind Fight for that matter.)
I don't know what choice to make She is Dexterity based so her AC is about 70 if she had +5 items and a large shield. 75 with Expertise.
Could someone please share their opinion on this? is Blind Fight worth taking for her as an Epic feat?
I can add that I have considered requesting a custom Epic feat for her, but I have no clue what to put on that if she did.
If you don;t have blindfight pre-epic I'd consider a full rebuild. As far as your current choices, the choices don't matter so much as what you currently have. What feats do you currently have?

Anyone else wish to comment? I'd like some additional yay's/nay's and general advice before I plow into making this character.
Have you talked to Spirit of Rock? He was going to make a half-orc leader type and you wanted to make a basher. Grab that person and maybe you may have a bit more fun in game if you come into it together as a some sort of duo?

Thanks for the suggestions, Pigeon. I've not quite ironed out the specifics of his character yet, so it could be either barbie or bardie depending. I'd be down for collaborating with you too, Daisy - will send a PM when I'm not so tired.
I want an SD build, ideally as sneaky as hell. Glass cannon ok, but aiming more at some tankyness, thinking SD/Monk leaning toward a dip into SD rather than heavy.

As long as you have 9 monk/ 5 shadowdancer you'll be tanky due to epic dodge. Anything after that is up to you. I've heard good things about 20 monk/ 10 shadowdancer.

Needing help with building a cleric sun elf (+2 int -2 con), I tried to do it offline, but I am pretty bad at casters in general. The idea is a combat cleric, wielding a longsword

You could effectively create a spellsword build, but it would be just that - a spellsword, and not really very roguey. It would also be a bit subpar for no real gain, and Spellswords need to prepare which you can't really do while couched in your hiding spot. There's also Wizard24/Shadowdancer6 (possibly 1 ranger or fighter dump) which is a bit more realistic, although it's roundly agreed to be a bit gimmicky - the addition of Hide and HIPS does help with survivability, and let you "act" as a rogue. It largely depends what you're looking for though - just those two classes, in a build (presumably as more than just a dump level)? A wizard who also does rogue things? Or a rogue who does rogue things with the aid of wizardry? Either way the most mechanically robust builds are going to be wizard-heavy.
Personally I think Wiz15/Assassin15 would be funny as hell but I'm pretty sure it wouldn't work at all.
