I've not been on the server for a long time, and decided that I have the time to and want to start playing again. So I dust off the ol' vault and haul Kamin Thane kicking and screaming out of his sabbatical... and find out, much to my surprise, that he's apparently fallen! Now, I haven't been on in a good nine months with Kamin, so I'm not up to speed on everything that's changed, so I'm curious why he's fallen now when he wasn't before. From what I can find from some light forum searching, it appears as though, if you don't have a deity selected/specified, or if your domains/alignment don't match your deity, you're fallen.

So, thanks in advance for anybody who can give me a definite answer on this: Is that the case now, with the deity system? As in, that you have to have a deity specified in order to cast and all? Because that would be my problem, I never grabbed one at an idol and certainly didn't type any names in at character creation way back in the day. If it turns out that a specific patron deity does now need to be specified mechanically, that opens a whole new can of worms, as anyone who might remember how I've always been playing Kamin knows.

You need a deity and his/her matching domains to cast your cleric spells. The former should have always been the case. The latter is more recent.

I believe, if you go to the maintenance room as a Cleric who was made before the change, you get a free domain change by talking to the Domain Changer. That should clear things up for you.

But yes, for future clerics you might make, the server's been updated so that you'll have to match your domains to your deity. However! They've added a few really neat domains, so check out this page here to see what domains your deity has. Then you can check out this page here to see what those domains can do.

Hope this helps!

//Edit: Ah, and you'll have to actually have a deity, yes. When a DM is online, you can send them a quick tell asking to get your deity so that you aren't fallen anymore, and they'll help you out. Its a pretty simple enough task. You'll have to do this first before you can select your domains via the Domain Changer.

Excellent, thank you, folks! That brings up the can of worms I mentioned earlier, with Kamin's whole belief structure being... unusual, but I'll burn that bridge when I come to it.

Unless you have an approved ur-priest kamin is not one and you will not enjoy putting effort into the character to find out its not allowed.
