Heya all!
Am presently looking for resources on the elven language. Also, very curious to see which are the ones that elven rpers on Amia tend to use for themselves.
I seem to recall there was a thread 2-3 months back stickied (might not be) someplace with a list, but it seems to have been bumped into oblivion.

Oh, damn Hendrack.. that was quick! Thanks a bunch.
I too found the Candlekeep resources useful, but somewhat lacking in grammar instructions.

I use Tolkien elven, which should be easy to find when browsing a bit.

Oh and btw, you will often need to translate the words to other pcs who speak elven. Just a heads up.

Please don't use Tolkien, people. We're not on Middle-Earth. You might as well be speaking Wookiee, for all the sense it makes.

I think the candlekeep stuff offers enough fluff to throw in some words here and there in conversations, but speaking entire sentences in elven is just silly, imo.

its flavor really.... i have started going from using the true elven words to just doing quotes with the translations of the word... so when I speak in elven of elves I don't say tel'quessir... I say "the people"... it just makes it easier for those who arnt bothered to learn some key words... still can be confusing for some players though

By that logic, I'll be expecting your support for my Jedi character I'm about to request. We're playing in the Forgotten Realms, a fictional world. It makes more sense to use the fictional stuff designed for that fictional world that it does to use the stuff designed for other fictional worlds.

Except that there is no such thing as FR elven. At best there are some phrases, but any actual elven language is always based on, or shamelessly ripped off from Tolkien. Besides, elves, dwarves, goblins, orcs and halflings are all copy-pasted from Tolkien and then diluted into their current FR form anyway.
In all my humbledore, I'd rather like to see someone make an effort to learn actual elven (Tolkien sindarin or Quenya that is), or don't bother with anything more complicated than [Elven] Insert text here.

Soulknife is kind of a jedi.. they even get saber urr.. mind blade throw. Throw some sorcerer in there for lightning and unseen servants to push people around... Epic topic derail? Also I used to use http://www.grey-company.org/Circle/language/phrase.htm before.. then firefox started complaining about the site being potentially dangerous.
