Goblins, Hobgoblins, Kobolds, Duergar, Tieflings, Half-fiends, Half-Chromatic Dragons and disciples of Chromatic kind, Orogs and Orcs, all races that can be seen walking Amia, all races that are typicaly dangerous cruel and evil. Yet all races who despite their typically evil leanings are permitted to walk through Cordor and Amia Forest, even linger there. Yet another race who is just as well known for its dark deeds, a race with a faction that has famously battled evils that have threatened Amia time and again is required to present symbols of trust or be forbidden entry.
Now do not get me wrong, I'm not saying Drow should not require tokens to prove their affiliation with the forces of goodness and justice. What I propose is that the very same be required of Goblins, Hobgoblins, Kobolds, Duergar, Tieflings, Half-fiends, Half-Chromatic Dragons and disciples of Chromatic kind, Orogs, Orcs and all others who belong to races or nationalities known for their evil mannerisms and methods. I propose this as logical, just and utterly fair to all beings who belong to peoples renown for their evil deeds.
The implementation of such rings has in so far allowed various forces to easily identify and know what dark elves are to be watched and or asked to leave areas in witch they might seek to do evil deeds and should be applied equally to the above listed races to promote greater safety while being fair. Rather then a token made just for trusted dark elves something should be made for all the above, with no exceptions.
I say this in the interest of fairness, justice and to better allow townships that fear the evils such races commit and their dangers to other peoples to better regulate them and I hope that others of this island consider the value of such a course of action and encourage the powers who lead and shape the islands political landscape to consider this.

A pregnant-looking Drow carrying a lute reads the posting in Kampos' muttering a few words before making her way towards the shrine.
And who is he or she to think they should take the freedom of others based on what they can not help but be.

I do not think the Eilistraeens truly wish to be treated the same as the greenskins and fiendkin and the chromatic dragonkin. You should be lobbying for proper treatment, that is to say a swift death, of them rather than arguing against an alleged improper treatment of yourselves.
I'd reconsider this plea.

Another pregnant-looking drowess, long and light black robes gathered around herself, smirks in the depths of her hood before penning a quick response. Perhaps instead, like the outcast Drow unwanted by any House or the Shrine, those of unwanted race could make themselves content and useful elsewhere, at least so long as they know how to follow laws. Teachers, crafters, and enforcement officers are always welcome, as well as scholars, magi, and those of a more practical bent. Let those of closed minds and empty hearts and brains do as they wish. Let Knowledge and Power flourish where ignorance holds no sway. Those who would not be victims of their blood, but rather masters of their fate, come to the Living City. Know our laws, and in them find peace, power, and strength. I beg you, do not allow the preconceived notions, narrow views and unyielding ignorance of the "good" people break your strength, or your spirits. Irae'arra Lakil Div'urden High Magestri Mortis

Do not lead people to your city of undead with false pretenses. Let them know what awaits them upon entry. And there are 'good' people that accept all persons as well. Put your brush down and stop painting things in your own light.

The notice in Kampo's has been altered slightly, with some of it underlined! Ravenovf wrote: Goblins, Hobgoblins, Kobolds, Duergar, Tieflings, Half-fiends, Half-Chromatic Dragons and disciples of Chromatic kind, Orogs and Orcs, all races that can be seen walking Amia, all races that are typicaly dangerous cruel and evil. Then an arrow has been drawn to a new notice that has been pinned up to next to it and written in Undercommon! The Obsidian Vanguard is Recruiting Denizens of the Underdark! Within L'Obsul lies great potential. Each and every one of us who have tasted the harsh existence in the caverns of the Underdark have been hardened and strengthened. This is our power, the likes of which the surfacers, spoiled by their soft living, could never comprehend. It is this power which gathers in L'Obsul... all it requires is direction.
The settlement of L'Obsul is managed jointly by the different races of the Underdark. Each race has their own part to play; where should one fail the others would suffer. This is a place where cooperation is a necessity!
But L'Obsul cannot be made great if we idle and languish, only working together when it is absolutely necessary. The Obsidian Vanguard is here to change that.
Sign up to the Obsidian Vanguard! We are here to protect and advance the interests of L'Obsul in whatever way we can, whether it is through the thrust of a spear or the swing of a pick, but in a way that reflects the unity that has allowed L'Obsul to exist thus far. Any race of the Underdark is welcome to join the Obsidian Vanguard, we are not here to further project the interests of a singular or a few races, but rather all the races that L'Obsul represents!
Contact Councillor Naltyrr or Commander Ada'vrae through the L'Obsul Tradehouse should you wish to lend your skills to the empowerment of L'Obsul and share in the eventual bounty of building it! It does not matter if you are a warrior, a merchant or a labourer, the Obsidian Vanguard will utilise every skill and every resource available.
Power and Prosperity to the Dark!

Kindly do not besmirch the Living City with blatant ignorance. The deathless arts are but one part of what we embrace. When you have such things as Druids banding with Malar, I hardly think you should be wasting your time worrying about a bunch of dusty old book-readers. Knowledge is not bound, and should not be bound, by archaic (and entirely religious....and ridiculous) notions of propriety. Only in knowledge is there truth, and only in honest knowledge is there progress.
And lastly, I would ask that if you -must- live in ignorance, I at least be allowed to point out that not all who practice necromancy feel the desire to reanimate. I am such a scholar. So also let me be the first to assure those who wish unbridled learning of any sort to know that with the freedom -to-, in Tarkuul, comes the freedom -to not-
And as far as the Vanguard goes, I highly suggest those who dislike Edonil stay well clear of them; most are Lolthite, or Lolthite allies. Not what we started it for, and I am greatly disappointed. However, those disaffected are welcome within Tarkuul, or in Dark Dreams Trading, if Tarkuul truly makes them uncomfortable, or they simply cannot enter, as goodly folk cannot.
In Knowledge is Power. In Commerce is Freedom. In gold and lore are truth. Irae'arra Div'urden High Magestri Mortis

A figured cloaked in enchantments arrives at the storehouse to tack up a note to Irae'arra's latest one! It too however is written in Undercommon.
The Obsidian Vanguard's primary focus will always be on business and its duty to L'Obsul. The Lolthlites make up a portion of the population in L'Obsul and House Zau'tar itself is Lolthlite, it would be hypocritical of us to exclude Lolthlites from the Vanguard when we are working for L'Obsul's interests. As for Edonil? Our priority is and shall always be L'Obsul. We have cordial relations with Edonil, but we each handle our own affairs.
But I stress this, the Obsidian Vanguard is for all the races of the Underdark. If you wish to learn more of the Obsidian Vanguard, then come to L'Obsul and share a drink with me. Learn by experience instead of reading simple notes on a board and listening to foolish hearsay.

Indeed.
Though, when you do, remember that said "hearsay" is firsthand knowledge from one of the group's founders, who left because of threats on her life from the Lolthites which were not prevented, simply for disagreeing openly with them, and refusing to cower to their pet Faern.
And bring a Purple Dragon ring. Poison wine is a real bitch.
I have several for sale. Love, and kisses, Irae'arra Div'urden Former Obsidian Vanguard councilor, and co-founder.

Another note is tacked up! Written in Undercommon!
The Obsidian Vanguard bears no ill will towards the Living City or its residents despite the theatrics and paranoid delusions of the High Magestri Mortis and former Councillor.
The offer stands to any of those who have an interest in the Vanguard.
As for the High Magestri Mortis, you are welcome to speak with me to clear up any unfortunate misunderstandings assuming you have cooled down since our last "meeting." Business is business, personal feelings aside.
You know where to find me.

"Not all Drow are Elistraeens. Not all Elistraeens are trustworthy. Assuming trust because someone worships some flighty goddess who likes to dance around in the nude is probably the worst possible idea I've ever heard. Not all Drow are willing to be forced to worship yet another whore goddess after they just got away from the previous whore goddess. Some of us would rather explore avenues that do not mean we are chained to yet another goddess who demands worship. The Daughter has the capacity to be like her mother one day, and I personally will not be forced to worship such a dangerous goddess.
I choose to worship human gods. They seem to have it right, if it is the only thing they seem to have right.

A copper-winged woman would move any notice in common with exception of these:Quote: Do not lead people to your city of undead with false pretenses. Let them know what awaits them upon entry. And there are 'good' people that accept all persons as well. Put your brush down and stop painting things in your own light. Quote: Rings don't represent a judgement of character, I got two of my friends rings on my word alone and I'm a dirty tiefling. Clearly the vetting system is all kinds of wrong!
-Gorthod She would put them all in a pile on the board and post a large paper on top of them all which says:"Love", she draws a heart around the word itself using red paint. Next to this she moves this modified message next to her drawn heart:
Quote: I do not think the Eilistraeens truly wish to be treated the same as the greenskins and fiendkin and the chromatic dragonkin. You should be lobbying for proper treatment, that is to say a swift death, of them rather than arguing against an alleged improper treatment of yourselves. a lot of sweet kisses and hugs from myself.

Written neatly under Naltyrr's is... I would, precious, but I have absolutely nothing to discuss with you, nor desire to see you in any way, shape or form.
And do bear in mind, I speak as Irae'arra. My opinion of you is my own, and my opinion of your deceitful, conniving, and cowardly nature is /also/ my own. I am entitled to hold them well and separate from the City.
Thus, when I say that I enjoy seeing a Vhaeraunite running around like Lolth's lap dog, I am saying this from my own point of view, as a Drowess and a woman with more honour than the average rabid raccoon. Not as the teacher whose post I inhabit.
Now. If you wish to speak to me in a business sense, do feel free to send a missive. As a Magestri, I will not deny anyone counsel, or teaching, so long as they do not violate the Laws of the Living City.
Otherwise, and I say this again as Irae'arra, the woman, try to keep up...You, sir, may take your lies and your half-truths, fold them into nice, neat little quarters, and stick them so far up your backside they never again see the light of day.
If you can get Lolth's hand out of the way.
~Irae'arra.

A message written in neat, simple undercommon is attached to Irae'arra's second-last message.
"Please. Don't delude yourself, child; you were not a founding member... merely a convenient early ally, whose influence won you a small accolade. Or did we deliberately keep you in the dark on that?
As for the apparent death-threats? This is truly the first I've heard of them. If you're imagining that they came from me, I answer that I would have simply killed you without warning if I found you were no longer useful. Of course, I cannot speak for the others... but I doubt any of them would have gone so far. You scare easily it seems. I for one would be delighted if I faced a foe who would so kindly announce their desire to kill me before doing it.
It is amazing how much the luxuries of the surface can weaken even a drow of good breeding.
~Commander Ada'vrae, of the Obsidian Vanguard"
Upon posting the message, the female drow clad in spiked armour stalks away, a smile on her lips. "Naltyrr won't be happy... but truly it needed to be said."

An easy ally, hm? I'll remember that the next time some poor lonely jaluk with no friends wants help starting anything.
Don't kid yourself, princess. You weren't there, 'til it was already going. It's quite easy to throw around harsh words now, but I daresay that having an ego the size of your second-rate god's isn't why you didn't kill me.
It's because you would have lost. Either to my spells, or Xun's blades. Possibly both.
However, I'm amused that you feel the need to jump up and yap like a guard terrier when your precious co-captain is threatened. Sweet of you to back a male like that, truly. I'm sure your queen must be /so/ proud.
In between the seething cursing at a female bending to a male.
NEXT! ~Irae.
The letter is marked with a purple lip print...sealed with a kiss. Irae makes no secret of walking away, laughing derisively.

Perhaps a bit wary of coming to the Storehouse so often, a bat instead flies in! It reads over the latest notices, and flies off! Returning later with a notice written in Undercommon with pin already in it! It sticks it to the latest notice with some difficulty and flies off!
So be it.

A short time later, another response is tacked up, again written in undercommon.
"You should be aware that it was I who suggested to the Councillor that he meet with you in the first place. Evidently he made rather a good show of it, as you seem quite taken in. But, I shan't play your little games, child. Jeer at us all you wish, when you speak a word of truth I might even pretend to be offended at the audacity.
To those of you worth the ink of my quill... the denizens of the Underdark, or even those few outcasts above who have the strength to survive below. Join with our might. Let us forge our destiny in the endless caverns, that L'Obsul may become a true power in these lands.

This is noted under the Kempo's posting.
You should be ashamed of yourself. This is not freedom, justice, or equality. This is misery seeking company, or affirming judgement is acceptable and slavery. If you are a dark elf yourself, you should know better than to try to drag others down, particularly if you're a Shriner, which I tend to get from the point of view from your statements.. the very angle your ...perspective speaks from.
No. What I think should happen is you need to grow a thicker hide Anonymous Drow, and cease whining in such a manner, mewling along with the tune of those who would be judges. Working off their fear, and adding fuel so that everything is 'equal'. Equal slavery under the law, condoning their very own hypocrisy and affirming their judgement of each for the blood flowing in something's veins. I suppose you must be a male as well, for how well you bend to something you view as authoritative, and bowing down to its whims, being a good jaluk. Either that or a man or elf bending the truth trying to further their cause under the guise of something else.
Humans are every bit as capable of vileness and evil as any one of those creatures you list. As are elves, this has been proven by those who have fought on both sides in every major encounter I have seen on my years on this isle. The elves conveniently can 'divorce' their bad apples and somehow this expunges them of fault as a race. Yet it is perfectly acceptable to label the majority of men 'good', and say, 'Well tis only a few bad seeds...' and they get off without any contempt. The only hypocrisy this shows, is that someone is a very poorly educated Follower of the Dark Dancer's dogma, or looking to gain power by forcing more through their 'vetting process'. To that I say snark you.
Anyone too cowardly to put their name to parchment has no room to give opinion if he has not the faith to stand by his view. If you fear your truth will be tainted by judgement of who and what you are then you clearly do not see the forest for the trees. You are playing into your own slaver's hands, and I implore you to realize this folly.
Such things as these rings prove nothing but that someone is good at lying, and pretending. Ask Jud'vardas that, or the Guard in Cordor.
Sometimes I wonder if any of you beings can see the true truth and ramifications of your actions. The longer I live, the more I see why many people think they way they do. They cannot see the consequences of what they do, and forming preconceptions. That is insanity.
Take heed of Voronwer's point, it illustrates wisdom, though even with his wisdom it also contains elven bias and judgement. True freedom for all should be given, and those who encroach upon others should be viewed as that which is verbotten and the cause of true maleficence.

*Crow sees these messages and shakes his head with a chuckle* *He would write a small note* Quote: No one is forcing you to come to the forest and stand around, Tazlin. Before you pass judgement, learn the rules set forth by the Arch-druids.
Know this: The rings issued by Cordor to drow are no longer accepted by members of Oakmist Vale as proof of trust. The rings issued by the Shrine of Eillistraee are also no longer accepted by members of Oakmist Vale. Oakmist Vale is well aware that rings are no longer being issued. Drow who wish to remain in the forests unhindered will hereby need one of these three to tell us personally that you are trusted: Jud Vardas Ken'lyl, Erelkacha Ken'lyl, Sabune Ken'lyl. Oakmist Vale remains neutral ~~Crow, Keeper of Oakmist Vale Mielikki bless

An elf moved to ignore the usual postings on her way until she noticed one in particular, penning a short note and placing it up in addition to the rest. Floriane wrote: Contrary to Crow's posting, we are still respecting the rings issued by the Shrine of Eilistraee as a valid proof of identity while in the forests protected by Oakmist Vale.

A drow spinning a fish by the tail-fin walks into Kampo's, Making his way toward it's noticeboard while whistling, He would pause at the first glance at the Original message, Deciding to leave a message of his own.
"You're idea is silly, and you smell funny. Go home. ~Buddy"
Buddy afterwards continues spinning the fish while whistling and walks towards the bar.

A thin hooded figure smirks as he regards the outpouring of notices, a look rather akin to the cat who got the cannary before scribing a note, placing it and leaving.
"So Curious the choices of the masses, a springboard for their personal advertisements, a few reasonable well thought responses, others obviously wrote in anger and and fueled by personal desire, and how very amusing to attack my gender in a fit of self indulgence from one who fears enduring the same scrutiny we do and the notion only that branding, for that is what the rings amount to, drow and not others of evil blood is somehow fair is deliciously one-sided, ah and of course the atypical lack-witted calls of cowardice against one who keeps their identity discreet in an attempt to discredit them how expectant, so very typical, uninspired and saddening. Of course I see someone thought to insult to the Eilistraeen faith in an act of utter ignorance, for if you read the first line of our dogma are not obliged to show any kindness to evil, all in all a small portion of eloquent thought peppered with vast tracts of banality and thinly veiled selfishness for they who do not wish to be branded as we have been and would continue to enjoy their full freedom while we require an unbalanced level of watchfulness as if your evil kin are somehow not truly all that evil. Perhaps rather then maintain the status quo. of your tiny minded, ill educated, lacking in empathy lives you actually pause and consider the value of being made to think, to ask questions about the flawed systems and unfairness of requiring this brand on one race that is typically evil while others do not. I do commend you who did not degrade to childish name calling or self indulgent angry retorts that speak more of your own personal flaws and fears then any real intelligence"

Pinned 'neath Xal's reprinting -
You are unable to point example of another's insults while freely spewing your own and use it as a sign of a moral high-ground or a superior argument in your 'commendation'.
Anyone who would willingly bend to the rod is a weakling deserving of nothing but the slavery they seek, that is what branding is and so are these rings. The one thing you do not lack is poor judgement and hypocrisy. Praising those who make no insults as if you are included in that is a type of trick which only works if the lie of such is not in your own words on the same parchment. I wonder what -kind- of female Eilistraeen you are, to feel that being called a male is an insult. I bet your fellows at the shrine truly will enjoy knowing that. No wonder you didn't pen your name.
You lack wisdom. Branding and judgement removes freedom of others, he who says it does not is blind, but that can not mean that one doesn't wish it were different. He who willingly entreats and subjects themselves to the will of others it are cowards and slaves. Cowards live longer and less difficult lives than one who has to fight for what they believe and adheres stringently to their beliefs and true to themselves and their morals. It is a sign of complacency. Requiring a 'brand' of any kind, is not a good thing. Suggesting these bonds should be placed on others is no better than dragging others down into the enslavement you have made your nest quite comfy in. 'Good people' who see that they have committed, and continue to commit actions which are not 'good' in nature may realize the folly of mob mentality. The sooner they may be able to realize they too are capable of missteps and realize evil has no face - it can be in any mortal heart, the sooner the goal of fighting it can be realized.
You attribute words to me of insults of the faith of the Shriners which I did not ink. I questioned your faith. Not the faith itself. If you are going to try to outfox me, you need to become far more clever. You are to promote harmony, not a cessation or splitting of the races into separate classes by Elistraee's teaching. You are to be kind, even to those who are growly, save when dealing with unrepentant evil. I will note this in hope you, and all those of the shrine of which a very dear friend of mine has his family at, will study your own dogma better. Do not look for fights where none are, making confrontation wantonly, and spread lies. The only Faith I was notating was poor was your own, or perhaps it was merely your understanding of it.
I will put forth my own God's words in this.. Trust in oneself, for that is the only one you truly know all sides. Always be true to yourself and who you are, believe in yourself. Self-doubt is the most abhorrent sin. Cynicism and Judgement are the tools of dead minds and tyrants. This must be fought at every opportunity, know that by upsetting the status quo stagnant thought is undamned and a flood of creativity comes forth. You do not know what lay in the hearts of other beings, you have not lived their lives, walked their path. You may walk by them but you are not on their same road. You may be heading towards the same direction but the way to get there is different for each one.
I will offer this advice to those who are concerned for the safety of their own:
Evil has no face. The 'monster' in me is easy enough to see. It is far harder to see it in your own kind's face, as human, dwarf, or elf. They look just like you, but they are evil. They not like you. They are bad, they are right before you, waiting to betray, and take what they can. They are Intra-species predators. It's simply prey's fight-or-flight instincts acting out in you in this discomfort. It keeps you safe, fear. You must evolve in thought and understanding to be past this. Does this mean that I am not of red dragon blood? No. Does it mean that in order to walk a centrist line that it takes more effort than it does for a human? I don't know, if it does then does it speak of my strength, or the task facing me that I still try? I know men have temptations just as I. I know they are prone to laziness, sloth, and greed and desire for power and an easier life. How is that different? Is it somehow less 'evil' for humans to prey upon their own kind than dragons do? Or Orcs, or Kobolds? Is it simply the act of fear of being consumed physically?... What about being consumed economically, or having their spirits broken? Or through forms of government or flawed judgement? The picture you paint 'Nameless Eilistraeen' is little more than a facade. Yours is a poorly constructed argument that holds no congruence with the measure of Truth.

You should come find me, Rrasy-boy Sandy Beach this cycle, actually. Well, you know it might not be this cycle, but the time I'm posting it is this cycle, if you get what I mean. -Gorthod

Crow reads his Captain's notice and strikes the appropriate line. "My mistake." he says
He reads Xal's notice and frowns with a nod.

If I may, I think the matter is being confused. You all are looking to enter our towns where we make home, where families are raised and children let grow. They deserve to be able to feel safe and be safe. Therefore, if you wish to enter our towns you must submit to the rules we set forth. We are not telling you how to live, but what you need to do if you wish entry into these places where people who reside there are offered safety and freedom from worry.
In my personal opinion, I think chromatic dragons, goblins, kobolds, and any other who are known to eat, hunt, enslave, or murder us and our children should be required to prove themselves before being allowed within the walls of any place where we make our homes. It, however, is not my job to make the laws.
Sincerly,
Mela Bendt

Right, because 'proving' ourselves works. Anyone can be a capable liar, and its not hard to get around Detect Evil and similar spells. And you humans and the like make such a huge deal out of betrayers that every time YOU fail to adequately vet someone, you blame it on their nature and race and upbringing rather than on your own shortsightedness, and you take it out on those that are blameless in the process, which I will not have. When you can come up with a foolproof means of testing people, I will submit to it. Until then, leave me to live my life as I will and I will leave you to live yours.

You are welcome to try and stop us "lady," but we outcasts have been playing this game a lot longer than you.
My point however was that I have no problem with being required to prove myself, but I'll only submit to it if you can find a system that will effectively weed out those that actually are problems. I hate to share space with evil as much as any of you do.
