I've never played a Death Domain cleris, so I wouldn't know how strong it is.

I'm a firm believer in 'You get what you pay for.'

Death Domain summon you get for free. Summon Greater Undead is also free, albeit at a higher investment. Epic Mummy Dust, which is what I was comparing SGU, costs the most.

I do get that non-Death clerics and mages don't need more help. I get that. I just think there are more clever ways of doing it than boosting summon power. I understand the reasoning behind the SGU being stronger but not the logic behind said reasoning, if that makes sense.

And no, I've never played a caster PM, but I have had my ass, and the asses of several companions, handed to me by one. They're not as decrepit as some think.

To be honest it's fine the way it is as in power.. the problem is that even a brogendenstien orc can unsummon it. Wich in my opinion is lame. foot a level fifteen bard could unsummon a palemasters most powerful summon... is that not broken or could be pumped up a bit?

Sure drop the AC and immunities from the class or make them take damage from healing potions first though, otherwise youll see a dirth of PM's steamrolling their way through life on Amia. Probably start up some floating undead city t-...ooh..

okay i just checked the three epic summons on my palemaster NE. Corruptor of fate: 40ac EDK:41ac Winter wight: 40ac

how is that out of balance with any of the other summons. you can't heal pot a wight anyways so how could you make it drink it.? all i am saying is seems to me it shouldn't be so easy to dismiss.

The difference is the first two require a feat and Spellcraft.

this is true but in turn you need 29 (actual levels) of wiz/pm sorc/pm to get Winter Wight. people keep talking about those immunity's and ac like their just horrible, but if you try to play a palemaster as he was envisioned those don't mean much. on any of my caster palemasters (i made two) they were supposed to be about casting and getting closer to undead blah blah blah... It's unfortunate that the way it was implemented it's not working out that way, but making a palemasters summon less easy to be dismissed when you hit say greater mummy and up seems reasonable to me.

I in no way have any sway over anything that happens. Just stating my opinion on the whole thing.

I wouldn't worry about caster palemasters. It's not like I know about these things BUT I may have heard they're getting a change sooner or later from my informants.

And then I'd have to kill him for telling you, and then Tormak would have to kill me because I killed "Script Bitch" as Sune likes to be called these days.

Problem you are forgetting there is you need a minimum of 27 Cleric levels for the Death Domain to be fully unlocked, and useful. Cleric Powerbuilds tend not to go over 26 Cleric levels. More Cleric Levels has both benefits and faults though, such as more spell resistance and caster levels, and buff duration. Also, you are spending a domain on that summon also, So it is not completely without its sacrifices, but it's not like you're getting nothing for it, or giving up anything extremely major anyway.

Well I have found out that the mummy dust is better in many ways than the wingerwight. For one, it is more durable, lasts a lot better than winterwight. It's sad that some go the full way for PM and they don't get much back. My spells suck, they don't last nor are they strong. In Amia pretty much everyone cast resist my best instant killing spell, which is: Wail of Banshee. DC is low, to PM caster. Only good things I have, is AC, paralyzing touch and deathless touch. High DC's however, get one spell and my deathless attack wont work, get one spell and my paralyzing wont work. Nor does it work if someone has a item with freedom on it. (If I recall right.) They are pretty useless.

Like an echanter going against a person with mindblank potion.

Plus Summoned Pharaoh Sentitel is lvl 30 undead/fighter, if I remember right whereas winterwight is lvl 32 undead. Why is my, should be more powerful, undead being dismissed without an effort :(

Though, can I complain when I knowingly went for full PM, knowing I would not do much in any battles. Was the lore behind the class that was more interesting than the class itself.

The only disadvantage a PM Wail has is CL. DCs are calculated taking into account the spell's level, feats - which a PM has easy access to - and int mod.

Oh? Did not know of that. Still. Perhaps it's because of the CL that my spell doesnt work on some of the monsters.

Yep...play a palemaster and you'll be surprised at how many critters have mundane spell resistance...maybe they have it to stop lowbies from going there...a full caster level mage doesn't even notice but i have seen many fingers of death bounce harmlessly off the brog barbarians...

Annoying was, when lvling, you can't be useful to the group pretty much in anyway. The undead summons are removed easily, if there is someone to unsummon them. But then again if they remain, they can do dmg.. and if they are not attacked by anyone. Because they can be killed rather quickly by a group of monsters and buffing them only helps for a moment. The buffs won't last long because of my CL. (Though having rather many summon spells.. I can always resummon the undead. )

Once you reach epic and get some epic spells. Then you can be some use. Oh and I love the touches. They work trough your career as a PM, just wonderful. (I think.)
