I currently play on one other long standing server. I would like to say the server seems very nice in its form and procedures and I look forward to investigating it further!

Awesome and welcome! You'll find that the community here is pretty helpful and kind, and the RP is generally quite good as well.

Will do I may need some help resizing my sig from another forum but I think I can manage. Story lines are acceptable for example a character from faerun goes to ravenloft and then back again? Just as an example. Is there a psionic class?

Faerun -> Ravenloft -> Faerun again is fine, we've had characters do that. There's no psionics classes built into the server (Edit: But see signature. ), but you can put in a character request (done before you make the character, please) to make one. The stickies in the request forum have a template for requesting special characters. I suggest playing for a bit to get a feel for the server before you launch into a request straightaway though.

Isn't it supposed to be nigh-impossible (as in nigh-nigh-nigh... etc) to escape from Ravenloft? D: I always liked that little aspect of hopelessness. I'm not gonna argue with a DM about it though, and I do like the idea of a character who has tasted the bitter fruit of life in Ravenloft and brings his/her changed views to Faerun. Besides, nigh-impossible still means slightly possible...

I thought that there was only one person who ever managed to successfully escape Ravenloft, in lore. *Shrug*

Maybe! I don't make any claims about Ravenloft lore, I just state the current DM opinion on characters coming from Ravenloft, or going to Ravenloft and coming back.

My new buisness venture shall be the Ravenloft -> Amia express.

But there's at least one canonical plot device which is hinted as possibly being an escape from the Mists. So it's reasonable for the DM team to accept characters with Ravenlofty backgrounds.

Planewalkers have always been pretty much free to play. It's never been explicitly addressed, but there have indeed been champs from Ravenloft, Greyhawk, Sigil and other places. Cosmopolitan planewalking is cool and good for the setting, so I've never really seen an issue even Oerth elves may technically not be the exact same race as Toril elves. I guess there is a line to be drawn somewhere, though. Playing a PC from our Earth is not quite fitting, but nor is it very sensible to say "all PCs must be strictly Torilian, period."

I was mostly only stating my own opinion, not the DM teams opinion.

Ravenloft should be a request. Because its canonical information with previous character experiences which could effect a character in Amia. For example, someone who plays "Strahds Guard Captain" in Prisoners of the Mist, could theoritically command the same status here to any other characters who originate from Ravenloft.
Its the whole no titles thing. Like how you can't make a Noble born without a request, or create a character who is the king of some place with requesting that information. As a general character who just happens to have escaped from Ravenloft, with no memory of their previous time in the Misty Covered realms, thats fine. But if the character has previous memories, then it can cause all sorts of issues.
But as there is no ruling at the moment, I'd advise that if your Ravenloft character has retained his/her memories, and has important status on other Ravenloft servers, or has retained some status through a plot device, that you ask a DM if its okay that they contain to use that status on Amia. This will prevent any nastiness down the track should a DM take issue with the unrequested use of a title.
Thats of course assuming that Tormak meant Ravenloft servers, and not just the Ravenloft setting. In which case I'd still suggest a request as its interaction with another game world, and could possibly cause conflictions in the future if not handeled right. As far as I'm aware, we aren't allowed to make characters from Earth, despite the somewhat shady connections between real world earth and other planes of existance, so it seems fair the same rules should apply. In theory anyway.

Quote: jimbono1 wrote: I thought that there was only one person who ever managed to successfully escape Ravenloft, in lore. *Shrug* Soth in the classic Ravenloft novels I believe it was one.. was it knight of the rose or.. specter of the black rose, but in source material it is up to a DM holding a setting to let PC's escape, or admit multiple game worlds. I am unsure if there are any others that have escaped. I know I have heard of a few escaping but it was character closure time for those on another server I play on. Generally you don't but there has been many characters that have escaped but.. with issues like in the first novel vampire in the mists.. I forget the girl now.. she was fragment of her former self.. reincarnation of Tatayana fragment or something. I suppose that could be a topic. Is there a way to post videos like you tube or... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uJ0eI4oWhRs
