Is there a way to make new classes?

Can Amia even make new classes with class specific feats?

If the Dms could make a new class what would you make?

What about the players?

Could a class be made amia specific like the Purple dragon knights, which are from Cormyr?

Haks allow new classes, but I do not think there are plans to add any to the hak.

If I could choose just one class to be implemented it would be the Mystic Theurge, i.e. (support caster)².

I wouldn't make a new class because theres still alot of balancing to be done with the ones we have.

Modifying a present one is a different story, however.

I still don't understand why "balance" them all. Now that most haveve already been changed, I do understand the rest need some work done as well.

Anyway, I don't understand anything about classes and therefore wouldn't add anything.

I'd actually be interested in seeing some PnP classes added in, partly because more variety is always fun, but also because I'm trying to teach myself more about PnP and the FR setting specifically.

Balancing, however, is going to impede the progress of this. The current balance changes have made Amia waaaaaay better than vanilla NWN, but no doubt getting balance near-perfect before messing with things like this is going to be priority.

NWN has enough classes and Amia enough subraces to cater 99% of feasable character background ideas and concepts, imho. For the rest: DC requests.

As long as this thread has turned into a sort of pie-in-the-sky wishful thinking dump...

I'd really love to see a NWN equivalent of the Radiant Servant prestige class, from Complete Divine. As written, it's flavored around Pelor, the DnD pantheon's god of strength and the sun, but there's no reason it couldn't be adapted to, say, Horus-Re or Lathander, or (cough, cough) Sehanine or Selune. Or even have the specific flavor all removed, and make it a more generic cleric prestige class.

Now that I ponder that a bit further, a broader thought occurs to me... there are currently zero prestige classes catering to spellcasters who want to emphasize being spellcasters. Every PrC for caster classes (AA, CoT, Shifter, PM, RDD) focuses on shifting away from casting and towards melee. That's a huge and unfortunate hole in our array of options, I think. How about Elemental Savant, Fatespinner, Geometer? Contemplative, Church Inquisitor, Divine Oracle? (I'm not advocating for all of these, mind you, just saying... caster PrC's would be nice.)

Caster PrCs largely can't be properly implemented due to how bioware handled spellbooks in NWN1. Arcane ones, anyways. The argument can also be made that they don't really need to be more powerful than they already are.

But as Suney said: Existing classes are open game. Hint hint.

We could just... you know... add in the PRC >_>

I'm kidding, actually, since I figure that waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much XD
And probably not fully balanced well.

That said, what's the general skinny on the PRC? I DLed it but never actually applied it to SP

The PRC only....maybe....half works. I toyed with it last year with a couple friends. It's nice having extra races and all those pnp base classes, but they mostly don't work, or work kinda goofy. Such as the Warblade sheathing his weapon whenever you try to do a Maneuver. Others seemed fine, tbh, but you'd have to sift through alotta info to get to it.

That said, NWN has all most the base idea stuff covered. It just lacks PrCs. Big time.

That's my two cents, heh.

The Purple Dragon Knights are of Cormyr, in a sense they're actually a location based class.

Too bad there isn't way to modify that one to be a more Amia spcific class.

Then at least you could make use of making new feats without having to worry about eveyone wanting to make changes.

And as far as balance, if every class is balanced, wouldn't it just make every class typical?

Actually, that's a good point. Maybe also RDD to just Dragon Disciple? And can class descriptions be changed? I bet it would prove helpful at character creation.

Come to think of it, if class descriptions can be changed, you might be able to put some notes about the Amia-specific class changes in there.

If that would be possible it would really be quite neat. I also enjoy Cory's suggestion, cause I know a few people that would love to use that class purely!

Harper as a class was a very silly idea on Biowares part anyway, as is Shadow Thief in NWN2. Rather Harper should be completely removed as a class.

Isn't Mystic Theurge fairly close to just doing a Cleric/Wizard multi-class? (I have a character that is basically this, plus took AA as a PrC for a bit of support combat ability.) Not saying it wouldn't be cool, just pointing out that some PrC can be faked fairly easily as long as it is allowed RP wise.

and...

Just curious why we would want to remove the Harper Scout PrC. I thought there was special scripting for this class on Amia making it more worthful than it was originally. I made a Harper Scout build for this specific reason and just to see if it is a fun class for both the build and the possible RP (like having all that arcane knowledge and not being a mage might be cool).

...and yes, I'm always a troll, before anyone says it... :)

Yes, Mystic Theurge just gives you more spell and caster levels. a 10w/10c/10mt mystic theurge casts spells as lvl 20 wizard and cleric while a 15w/15c would only cast spells as a lvl 15 wizard and cleric.

Mystic Theurge is aswesome and incredibly fun to play as the ultimate buff vending machine, but it is quite overpowered if you use the right kinds of spells so the multiclass loss in caster level does not hurt you much so I bet Mosh would kill himself trying to balance it. :P

Same as its always been when it comes to NWN and its dark horrible demon summoning based scripting. When it's done.

Personally i'd like to see some of the prestige classes from the players handbook 2. Like the totem barbarian! Or a tattood monk. Or even an actual battle rager prestige class for a barbaric dwarven character. Or perhaps some of the classes/prestige classes from unapproachable east and/or oriental adventures. They were all 3.0 builds, so in that respect they would fit.

While I agree a Battlerager prestige class would be cool, it would unfortunatly require something Amia does not have, and thats access to glove based weapons. Spike Gauntlets. Bladed Gauntlets. Ridged Gauntlets. Basically all the glove based weapons that are limited to fighters, but not included in NWN.

Nah. You'd just have to adapt them for men. Since grapple is just roll played in amia, they would have to forgo their original fighting style. But they could still get the resistances to poison, the "battle fury" that is akin to barbarian rage enough that it can be a specialized rage widget where certain effects stack with each rage and rages can overlap, and let us not forget their class features that allow them to resist the effects of dammage. Aka damage reduction. It would have to be balanced out when it was adapted of corset, but still possible in my way of thinking.

Yeah, you could just make a barbarian that dual-wields hammers, axes, maces or just simply uses unarmed attacks. Poison resistance can be gained by items/resist poison feat, or you can even get poison immunity from a certain items.

It would certainly be entertaining to see a dwarven "battlerager" barbarian rushing off to battle, armed with only his fists. Certainly, the damage and AC wont be anything too wonderfull, but with massed Constitution and maybe improved expertise, it can be a funny and at least a very uncommon tank :D
