I was wanting to have a bit more fun with one of my characters and thought that this may be a nice idea. I'm looking for others who wouldn't mind having mutual aggression against (forefit the standard PVP rules and auto-hostile). Our characters would of course need a reason to be enemies, and this can be established first of course.
If you are interested, please respond with your player name, and character name. If you have a character who holds grudges or gets angry easily, then this can be an outlet for that.

I would KILL to get a nemesis...!
And i will take the oppertunity to remind all that i've forfeited the Pvp rules vs my characters. Auto hostile and bash away, My pretties.

...Why do you go just go looking to pick a fight IC? Within PvP rules, of course. And before/when/if/after it happens, proposition the player about this continued grudge thing.
Right now, and I at least give you the benefit of the doubt that this is not the case, it seems just like you want to fight OoCly for the sake of fighting. Find the RP and the stuff like this will fall in place.

There's loads of potential RP in conflict RP. You must not forget that... I, too, would steer towards more conflict RP against another character if i knew he could take it. Faerun is full of conflicts - and it makes amazing RP.

Some of the best stories come out from having a nemesis.
Just open up any fan fiction book or comic paper or thriller or ..whatever. What is lacking, on the other hand, is common courtesy to abide by the rules. A mutal agression (all cards on the table, all means allowed) is a good idea i think.

I'm not saying that there isn't RP in conflict, Svensk, I'm saying there is, and for that very reason, one should go about it IC.

Could always be good to pave the ground first, make sure everybody are on the train. Could be a lot of tension and OOC feelings else.

I thought this would be a cool topic but it turns out it's just someone wanting an excuse for open season PvP. Nevermind.

^ agree
as for something constructive, maggot has often agreed to KoS with several people after IG rping some terrible things like making them watch me torture their lovers or something silly like that. go be evil and when you harm someone send a tell saying you allow them to attack you on sight from now on until further notice and trust me it will happen. 2 years have gone by and sometimes one of my favorite conflicts comes brewing back up to the surface. when the RP is there, you wont have to ask for anything.

I find beating enemies in PvP to be rather boring and dull. Much more satisfying and challanging to defeat them other ways, and generates much better quality RP too. However, PvP is sometimes unavoidable, but if i was to have a nemesis, it'd not be for the primary reason of PvP, but more to provide RP, for example, one of the two making plans, and the other dedicated to thwarting the plans at every chance they could.

Good rp will come of it. This will not be conflict that will never have words spoken. TormakSaber wrote: I thought this would be a cool topic but it turns out it's just someone wanting an excuse for open season PvP. Nevermind. Thanks for your two cents Tormak, you always know just how to make me smile. Ya know, if people just wanted PVP without role-play, they would stay in the little sparring areas and never leave. Come on Tormak, give me a break and use some logic before judging me this way.

Sounds like fun, I always wanted a nemesis. Unfortunately I don't play often enough to make a good nemesis, but feel free to declare eternal loathing for my kobold, Spooks.

This is exactly the, what I call it, pirate situation. Remember those two pirates in Baldurs Gate II, on the Pirate Island? This whole idea is the exact script of what was demonstrated there... Pirate 1 : *growls at Pirate 2* Pirate 2 : *growls at Pirate 1* Pirate 1 : Arrrrgh... Pirate 2: Arrrrrgh... Pirate 1 : Arrrrgh... Pirate 2: Arrrrrgh... Pirate 1 : Arrrrgh... Pirate 2: Arrrrrgh... ==- A BIG fight between them two, which ends by the death of one of them -== The pirate that survived : "Told ya" The EndCome on, man. Are you serious? So you want to create a character with the prime idea of being a PvP nemesis of someone? Even if there are two sides included in this, it is still as cheap as it gets.

Best PvP I had was on sunday as my Kobold, he'd been stalking the Gnome Missus out of Bendir, into the Forest of Despair. Next half an hour was spent trying to bring her down to the warren, as she was helped by two others, it was brilliant, just a shame I didn't get her... this time.

Hmm, I find this thread to be an odd choice. OOCly looking for a nemesis that is. I mean I don't necessarily think it was a bad or wrong thing to do, just that it's not really hard to get a nemesis. I mean, for one character I have 2-3 (OOCly polite?) nemeses and a city might be more or less out for my blood and I never play on peak times! ...That might just mean I'm unlikeable though.
Anyway, I presume you haven't had much luck getting this sort of thing the IC way? My suggestion is to keep trying, because it's more fun when this stuff progresses naturally. Insert platitude about journeys that I can't remember the phrasing of.

You want a nemesis? Ham it up to eleven then.
Be over the top in acting, be dramatic, be hilarious. Make everyone laugh when it comes to the fight.

I often approach random characters and pretend they're my nemesis. "You may have escaped my trap in Calimshan, but this time you won't have your three-headed githzerai lackey to help you!" That sort of thing.

I like to role-play just as much as I like combat. Maybe I like combat a bit more than the average player here, but that doesn't mean I'm a bad player because I like my fun to be just slightly different. I didn't ask everyone for their personal taste of combat/role-play mix or whatever, so please stop cluttering this up.
If you hate PVP and are snoody about your role-play tastes, WHOOPTIFEKINDOOO!!!! I don't care, feel free to play your way and refrain from judging me or others on this topic. Anyways....
I think I would prefer a nemesis who is not the normal knight or paladin, they could be good or evil, just as long as I'm not dealing with a half-orc with an INT of 8 or less. I want a cunning opponent. Anyone got one of that variety?

I don't mind injecting a bit more flavor every now and then. And I must say that finding a perfect nemesis is very hard, especially when so many characters are just alts that get played only during the waxing gibbions. Learning the character of your nemesis is especially hard considering you need to get to know another character first. It's not all in my control, so don't give me that crap. Also, amia is just a notch too slow of pace for me, and I still want something of a real life outside of this game- that's mainly why I am doing this (to get more out of my time playing). I would guess that the good majority of players here would not want mutual aggression for any of their characters. I'm not looking for a debate here, so just agree to disagree with whatever and go away. I don't have 16 hours a day to do nothing but play games, so yeah- if you have that much time to play then I guess you beat me, and you play differently than I do. I'm doing this to be effeciant with my online gaming experience, deal with it. Don't take this personally, I just don't see any point for your opinions. Let me others play how they prefer to play and I will do the same.

I dislike predetermined roleplay. Go out there and make it a natural rivalry as opposed to forced and generic, you'll enjoy it a lot more I promise you.

There have been times when I thought 'wouldn't it be cool if this character had an old enemy that might pop up unexpectedly' but I have never sought anyone out to actually make it happen. Once you commit to something like that, there's no way to gracefully turn back unless you don't want to play the character any more, or the other guy doesn't want to play the enemy character any more. That's without even considering the potential fallout if things go pear-shaped and you can't get along with the other player. Or, even if things go well, you run the risk of grandstanding and actually boring the hell out of other players because well, we've seen good guys beating bad guys, or bad guys beating bad guys, a lot of ways. My suggestion to you, if you're willing to accept it, is to parody these tired rivalries and find a way to make them entertaining for the other players. This post will self-destruct in five seconds.

That being said, I see you online on all of your accounts and alternative accounts and I must say, with the time you spend IG, you can get 5 sworn enemies. Face it. You like PvP, and you wish to avoid the rules in order to have more fun. PvP servers exist. Also nothing personal.

What are you offering here, however, is nothing but a cheap excuse for a cheap and brainless PvP which is normally frowned upon on RP servers. But then again, you said it yourself ... you prefer action more than RP. So of course you are getting these ideas. Arenas, action servers... a lot of places for violent, evilisgood black clothed badass nemesis.

I am with Tormak. I had such high hopes for this thread when I read the title.
I was expecting to read more of perhaps a Paladin/BG duo that are at odds as they try to convert the other's soul without resorting to armed combat as they were brothers or comrades or that. Or perhaps the wish to RP the struggle found when two clerics of the same faith but opposing ideology butt heads while working towards the same goal... But this, this is just a major let down.

Nah, he and Eli are my two most played. Toby comes in at third, an Nina has fallen to the fourth spot as she is a bit too serious for what I am looking to play at the present moment with all that is going on in RL. No worries Dayfer, I won't leave Lazzik alone

Back on topic, I think that actively searching OOC for a death match constantly is a bit dumb, a rivalry happening IC (like the one between Missus and Lazzik) can be brilliant. One day Lazzik will destory that Gnome... one day...
