Well, actually... unless your character had some schooling in such things, pre-creation, then it is understandable that they wouldn't know what you now know about palemasters. I know palemasters are evil, but my character who never had an experience with a palemaster didn't know, and thought that they were just harming themselves to gain power, and they saw no real problem with that.

1. Making a drow priestess that worshipped Eilistraee with air domains and sun domains.
Worst part is; I thought I was going to be uber unstoppable with those spells. Oh, and she uses a greatsword and was str based, had no spell focus. Didn't know how to use battle blessings (divine favor, blessing, battletide, etc)
2. Rolling an epic shadowdancer with rogue levels, bringing into onto the campaign for 15 minutes and then thinking that shadowdancer classes sucks in terms of powergaming because simply; she couldn't hide in plain sight as per feat during combat.
Little did I know later on Amia... I was woefully wrong..
3. Used to think rangers were the best classes in nwn, paladins the suckiest, followed by monks. Oh, I thought parry was badass too!
4. Make taking blinding speed a point since I thought it would stack with haste (WTF?)
5. Thinking AC meant damage reduction with some complicated system to calculate the reduction.
6. Didn't know save DCs existed.

Made a "uber child PC"
First PC was called "mysterious elf"
with said first pc, summoned a hell hound in cordor *was rectified but i still feel horrbiles about it!*
didnt know what metagaming was..and after somone did a memory wipe o him still rememberd their names... i dont even think they were mentioned! and mentioned them to spooks.. (again i got a telling off)
Reccomnded button on sorcerer (elfie!)
Mysterious elf wroshiped the gatekeeper in Hotu.
with mysterious elf he worshiped, clicked for him to worship Orcus, beacuse i think the statue was in a realativly dark place
Didnt understand the dice system! i jsut chose the one with the biggest number for my spells (no defensive spells) hated death magic even when i was skill focused necromancy.. why? beacuse i thought it didnt work after a percentage of the time
When i first got nwn, played a wizard didnt understand it and it stood on my shelf for what, a year? (i admit i was young, but also used to mana!)
least i got the fact that necromancy is bad and should be kept secret straight away..
Edit (mysterious elf was named Samius, i dont play him as much anymore, as i feel a disgrace from him, a dirty feeling when i play him, no matter how much jim wants me to play him)

One of my first characters was a half-drow, who went exploring in the Underdark. He found a drow city and kept trying to gain access but the guards wouldn't let him in. Spent a long time wondering why he couldn't enter.

I remember that during the first two weeks in Amia, I didn't know why my game crashed all the time and it did always when I entered old Cordor West or something, or went outside. I t hought it was due to my character, since I could always create a new character and when I logged in with the old one, my game went ding dong. Well, I created some 6-7 new dwarf characters with almost similar names and wondered how I'll ever get to level 30. Well, eventually I heard of shiny water, and I had half a dozen dwarfies from which I could take my pick.
Most probably know, which one I picked.

Many a couple of years ago I remember making a character called.
William Smith of 'Bel'air
a dark skinned toon who was a bard and loved to dance in a manner called 'breaking'. and in his character bio I stated that this character got magically transported to the world of amia from RL. so I rped him as if he absolutely knowing NOTHING about magic or not even seeing an orc , so he was absolutely cluelesss to all things fantasy. It made for some interesting rp.
After awhile a DM I remember sent me a tell saying:
I do not know how your character is going to fare in the long run, but it would interesting to see!
That being said, was probally one of my noobest mistakes. (if it was a mistake at the time)

That's... actually pretty damn funny.
Newb mistake +2 (that both Sakkran and I have done): Being close to death, forgetting you have a con buff up... and resting. He did it as Harrik (when he first started playing), I did it as Im'kiira. I was like, "Yes! I can rest." And keeled over dead.

First RP server before I learned about things like NPC factions and consequences.
Me: Shooting this target is boring. oooh, I wonder if I can hit that chicken?
Next 20 minutes spent fleeing the town, the countryside and into the desert as EVERY single NPC went red and tried to kill my toon.
Lesson learned? Never, Ever hit the chicken.

On the otherside of the coin the first DM-Noob mistake I made I think everyone has made, they didnt unbind pause from their space bar or saving server from the s key. It is S right? Been a while now. Anyway this resulted in me pausing Amia, saving it paused and exploding the shit out of it as the server couldnt handle it back in those days.

Made a human monk with a score of 14 on 5 of his attributes because I figured they were all important. Took the Circle Kick feat early on. Really awful. I didn't know the difference between pcs and npcs, so he'd talk to npcs and stand there waiting for them to respond.

I used to respond to DMs in the channel when an NPC would talk (mostly to Mads/HollowDreams) until I realized they weren't the ones talking. >.> Used to freak me out even more on another server because the NPCs moved as well.

I have so many of these...
Garnith was my first character. He originally had more Dex than Cha, good if he were a rogue, not so good for a pure Sorc. Not entirely sure if that counts, cos I still have him running around stabbing things with twin daggers.
Other mistakes: Making a faerie without knowing anything about them besides seeing the swarms of them annoying the hell out of people back in ye olde Cordor. Hilarity ensued.
"What's this? Weapon focus? Hm, I'm not really sure what I'll use. I guess I'll just take every single one!"
"Why do my spells keep failing? I ought to get some better armour, if they keep failing like this I'll need something more than chain mail to protect me!"
"Spells, spells, spells... Wait, I should just take all the ones that protect me, and then I can be SUPER TANK!" (Also not sure if this counts, I still get buffing spells before anything else, only have a few offensive ones.)
After a few levels: "Missile storm? Pfft, I've learnt my lesson. Magic missiles suck."
"Criticals have ranges? What do those do?"
"Wow, this server isn't that big after all, there's only 4 dungeons!"
"Huh, that elf has a really strong tan. I should ask about that."
It should also be noted that, despite invisibility being my favorite spell, it didn't occur to me to simply buff my familiar and stay invisible till about level 17. And I still don't do it. Poor Ethra having to do all the work. D:

First time on NWN. Me and two dudes I know IRL. One ranger, one monk. They decide I should roll a sorc.
I do.
I run face first into everything trying to stab blue dragons with a dagger.
Start over.

Heh, it's funny reading these, and seeing how far people have come in terms of both building and lore. As for myself...
I think my first character on the server I had planned as a monk/sorc/SD. Awful combination, but I figured the spells would come in handy to make him tougher with buffs. I had no concept of how much taking sorc pre-epic tanks your AB and saves, so I went for the spells first. I was also fond of the recommend button in those days. Needless to say, Gers 1.0 was a wreck, as he was a dex based monk with a few spells (and no Weapon Finesse) walking up to things and hitting them.

I was headed off at the pass by Nekh, I think, who had me unbind pause as part of my induction. My n00b DM mistake was to log in blind drunk and have Windreaper convert to pacifism after killing an attempted bossfighter and walk about the Wastes with her preaching peace and love. No-one else was there, thankfully, and she agreed to forget it, the next day.

When I DM'd on another server my DM Noob Mistake was to type in dm_cowsfromhell into the console while stood in a crowded gaming area. After picking myself up off the floor from laughing so hard I spent the next 20 minutes trying to say sorry to the people who I'd killed and ruined their RP.

I'd like to thank who ever it was way, way, WAAAAY back in the day when I started on Amia with Angelicae....for taking the time to show me how to cancel Polymorph shape. And enduring me patiently because I honestly had never used it once in a whole 3 years of previously on and off playing on other servers.
Oh, and changing armor before a surprise spawn and having to dodge orcs naked while furiously trying to equip it in your inventory? Fuuuuuuun.

My STR based Kobold Fighter/Rogue/Blackguard he had weapon focus longsword, weapon finnesse, and skill dumped disarm trap at first rogue lvl, there was a trapped chest there during lvling, also I used reccomended for everything except classes...
I then made my second character, good ole Foilinar.
Also if anyone cares, Greekon (the chars name) was perma'd by some angry Illithid.

I had a human fighter as my first ever PC and I left his carcass in an orc mine in Salrun, then Feo was born and has had many many many many moments and builds in his career.

They were AWFUL. Spending several days trying to make my faerie wield a greataxe and wondering why it didn't work.

My first character was Lomilmawien Blabla (cannot recall lastname anymore...), and I was completely unfamiliar with the entire NWN, Dnd, RPG or Multiplayer universe. The most messed up thing was her race: She had black skin, white hair (drow), Half elf as Race and the female head with the horns, her class was sorcerer. Some day I recreated her and I found out that there was something like "races", so I fixed it to Half Drow. Her class from then on was "fighter->pirate. I had no idea what deities or religion's got to do with anything, now my two maincharacters are fanatic clerics.
Yes.. pirate... I basically always clicked on "recommended" apart from the fact that I also clicked on "pirate" in the presitge class thing at the character creation, cause i thought it would be really cool and all. She was also married at some point, the whole program, OMG I cannot understand how anyone wanted to RP with me back then.... Anyways, After a one year break I ran into Mathan again, who I recalled from my embarassing days for some reason, and then at some point I met Nathano through jimbob, both kind of guided me through that entire RP, DnD and building thing.... which I am really thankful for, by the way!
I also made a catwoman at some point with cat-ears during that time, which is why a DM then tried to explain to me that I need the apropriate race to be a cat-eared elf... O the stupidity.
I did so much extremely stupid crap and was just always hanging around Cordor Square, RPing my "insane" and simply stupid Half drow. It was a nightmare and I had no idea what RP was all about...
I am less of a noob now, but still am in many ways.

Been playing rpg for ~15 esp. AD`nD for ~bout 10 years had no issues with abilities but with feats and skills:
One of my first NWN character, a "badass" elf archer (before Arcane Archer came out), Rogue with two levels of Fighter (You know for the weapon specialization). Knowing nothin` `bout how multiclassing works, what the hell is "attack of opportunity" was wondering why my LVL13 elf dies every five turn in the Frost Giant (or fire giant, whatever)`s castle...
The other was the "Swashbuckler" mistake, take parry, leather armour and try to beat four opponents (maybe with a rogue/fighter)...
Radip shot with rapid reload anybody???
I still beleive that thief is a cool class although they do not get XP for gold and do not level at 1250...
And on Amia? Wow! I can`t tell how many I`ve made in the last fortnight as this is my first experience with online rp...

Picked up several ranks in Pickpocket... just the other day. I am wondering why my AA with a DEX of 30 keeps falling over? How does sticking her fingers in a pocket trip her?

That change was done to represent the person being discovered and knocked on their ass, it also drops you out of stealth IIRC to once again represent the fact you did literally get caught with your hand in someones pants and they knocked you one for it.
Plus DM's were sick of having to unflag items and plot items on people from being stolen.

I am less of a noob now, but still am in many ways. Hey I remember that time! My first character, lovely Karl, probably has one of the weirdest builds on the server including skill points spread all across the board and weapon focus/crit in both short sword and rapier. I did a lot of stupid things back then, luckily most don't remember them. As for noob dm mistakes, there were a lot of accidential shouts and then some scripter said it was a good idea I entered some command.. and wham my dm avatar was now mortal and got wacked!

After all this time, I'm still a noob;
Until 20 mins ago, I used to think that any feat could be taken in normal feat progression, and only class-bonus feats were restricted. In particular, learnt the hard way that RDD can't take Curse Song. :/

AmiaWiki wrote: Halflings are clever, capable opportunists. Halfling individuals and clans find room for themselves wherever they can. Often they are strangers and wanderers, and others react to them with suspicion or curiosity. Depending on the clan, halflings might be reliable, hard-working (if clannish) citizens, or they might be thieves just waiting for the opportunity to make a big score and disappear in the dead of night. Regardless, halflings are cunning, resourceful survivors. They also lay eggs.
