We've all made them. What are the funniest n00b mistakes you've made, rp-wise and/or combat/systemwise.
On my end, I still remember when I was very new to online roleplaying. This took place on another server, where I played a blind paladin of Tyr for a while. The RP went something like this.
* Barbarian girl found a note and looks it over, puzzled, as she's illiterate * Me: "Hold on, I'll help." * Me takes the note and proceeds to read it out loud * Me: // Oh wait. I'm blind.

PnP 2e! My elf rogue found a beautiful belt in the dragon's hoard. Being greedy, she immediately put it on.
His name is now Tyresan. Hooray, Girdle of Sex Change.

First PW - RP Server after doing up a character a bio and all that I logged in, and went to type something, not realising the game used to default chat commands to /shout back in base NWN.
15 Angry tells later I logged out for a few days.

The first post doesn't even count!
When I first played in Amia I remember creating a monk who was named after one of the baddies in Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines. I couldn't build for shit, so the build sucked arse and I remember typing stuff like "WTF" etc.
I also spent loads of points in DEX with Hunie Mk. I because I though he couldn't hit anywhere with his bastard sword without DEX points. (I blame Diablo 2 for that.)

I also thought DEX determines accuracy and STR determines damage >.<

My first Multiplayer Server, when I became aware of these things from a friend who told me that NWN was still useful after finishing the game, was Badlands. Badlands was the reason for my first noob mistake on an RP server. I levelled up my toon, and got into a tussle over someone killing my summons. Got killed, and immediately came out fo the temple where I respawned from, and killed the person who killed me. Ban hammer.

I feel like Opustus with my old stuff, but perhaps not with forum posts as much. Tormak and Ziacat have seen the bio of my first character.
It ain't pretty.

It was only after two years playing on the server when I heard they actually born that way.

Stacked similar Damage Reduction items on multiple items on a pvp server because I thought they stacked. This was back in 03 or 04 when I used to hit the PvP servers for funsies.

My funniest one I can think of lately, involves Tuomas:
Him and Eli had been doing a bit of research at the Triumvir, and.. well.. we had been winding down for that particular session of happenings so Tuomas said thus:
"Let's go fet some food and head back to the Monolith."
.. This happened of course at a point After the Monolith disappeared.

I got to level 4 before I had justice_prevails and Garoujin go, "Noooo" and made me fix it when it was learned I was just winging it. I also had a tendency to use the more modern stuff in game than made sense - like I said "rocket launched" at one point and got, "What's a rocket?" (I think that was Jud, actually....lol)

Once upon a time Peeves and I were over at Malkavianman2000's house. All three of us were online at once and being fairly new not one of us realized we needed to configure our ports. This led to a series of never ending Richard clones overwhelming the Nomad and spilling out into the street. Between the three of us we broke the sever so completely that it needed a physical reboot.
I still have some of the screenies I took of Richard staring himselves down, makes for a good laugh every now and then.

Considering I am not very knowledgeable on PnP stuff nor NWN's version thereof... when I first started out on Dusk Haven ...100,000 years ago... and Arwen was my character (also a noob mistake; the name!), she was pure ranger (always easier for me than trying to make a build), and she had rapiers and a bow. She was always so awful with her dual-wield rapiers, and I even RPed her trying to train up with some of her buddies (which was fun!) . . . and then someone explained "Weapon Finesse" to me. She was... Level 18? I think? When she took the feat, ha. And the highest level you could reach on the server was 20. I felt dumb, but, hey, it was fun RPing her suckfest melee. ...And then I had a hard time explaining how all of a sudden, it was much, much better. ...Training... finally... worked?
--Anyway!

All I can think of is building a PC with feats boosting skills with no application beyond a cap at the time (Persuade, Lore, Appraise, etc.) and having no metamagic feats at level 30.
Thank you, Ruce. God bless you.

One of my 1st online NWN characters was a Fighter. That's it...with stats sufficiently raised to take every possible feat on the bonus list (15 Dex, 13 Int, etc), base human. Should've named him Vanilla von Hungryforfeats...

I took quicken spell as my first ever Cleric. I took spot and Listen on my first ever sneak. On my first ever server before I knew what RP'ing was, I ran around asking people their ASL's and typed like dis. I took no meta-magics as my first mage online. I'm sure there're alot more but I can't think of anything else right now.

I was the ultimate noob, not only did I jump straight on multiplayer and totaly ignored single player (I still have never played single player) but I didn't even know what ROLE PLAY was all about.
I spent my first week running around on my own trying to ignore all those strange people standing outside Haurs (Old Cordor) and the Temple and wondering why my Paladin couldnt hit a thing (I was guilty of reccomended clicking).
Some weeks after and feeling a bit braver I made my first attempts at RPing with people and ended up getting told off by a DM for my Paladin running around with a Tiefling Demon Kin.
It took me months to figure out how to whisper (/w) and talk in party chat (/p) and I used ot change from whisper to party (once I worked it out) by clicking the option rather than typing /s /p /w etc.
After getting told off for the third time and being forced into a free rebuild from Paladin to Fighter I built my first level 30 version of Metalien, 20 fighter, 10 rogue.. he had NO UMD or Tumble and had more dex than str... he was truly abysmal and I dont know to this day how I managed to survive Brog with him.
Thanks to many patient people I finaly figured out how to role play and talk in party or whisper, I don't know where I'd be without them so I try to take time out to teach noobs how to do things if they need help.

Not knowing the first thing about necromancy and thinking that pale master is just a different type of wizard with a bone arm that just magically happened resulted in making a cleric with some moronic opinions about such things... In my defense, the original campaign gives you a goodly elven Sehanine Moonbow cleric who summons undead as henchman option! The campaigns in themselves are utter rubbish lore-wise, not that I was aware at the time.
Recommend button was often used. Abilities = "a little of everything should work"
More noticeable in-server technical noobishness happened in Arelith. Was running for lack of knowing how to walk, but nothing major, played a lot of player made modules before going multiplayer.
I read the forums almost entirely before starting to play on Amia but my brain didn't absorb all information instantly. Didn't remember what metagaming guards meant, can't remember what I did exactly but it was pointed out.
+ other random incidents, some of which now make me cringe, for lack of knowing lore details.
My common sense defied local environment common sense.

My first real character on Amia was some of my first experience on NWN other than a few days here and there and one of the only characters I had made with the game at all. Really there should be a giant list of my "N00Bness" alone but the things that stand out most are:
That character was a pure Drow sorcerer with heavy armour proficiency but without enough strength to ever wear it without being encumbered most of the time. And although I never used the recommend button I did however just pick whichever abilities and spells sounded the most awesome which when he was maxed out led to having almost all offensive and summoning spells and with only 24 AC most of the time.
I also screwed up with the chat system about once every two minutes (which I'm sure didn't get really annoying).
And probably worst of all within my first few months I came across a massive exploit with the crafting system at the time which allowed me to infinitely create polymorph creature weapons. Which got me a PM from Disco simply entitled: *cracks knuckles*

I muled. I know, I know. All I can offer in my defense is that not only is Amia the first server I've played on, but it's also the only online RP I've ever participated in, so a year ago (wow, almost exactly a year ago, whaddayaknow) I didn't have a very clear idea of what this "muling" thing was, or why it was bad, and let's just say that my understanding of what offenses constituted muling did not exactly align with that of the DM who smacked my knuckles almost immediately. (I think it was Peeves, but whoever is was, he was really, really super cool and understanding about it, despite stripping the offensive character anyway. )

I made a halfling toon with a bio that said it was Feonir's and Floriane's daughter. I made the character an RP'ed in the old Cordor square with them for about two seconds until they read the bio and asked what i was doing.

My very first character on Amia (Arelith, back then) was Strider Moonwolf. He was a human druid who got to level 20 and had every point put into strength. He never could cast level 9 spells. Oh, and I tried roleplaying him as a badass. A strength-based druid badass.

Back when I was younger I had a paladin who became an LN knight who became a bloody cleric on Local Vault RP.*Runs away, using a shovel to dig him a hole to crawl in as to hide his shame*

I made a Cordorian NPC guard and asked a DM to remove one of Cordor's guards so I could stand in his post. Hahahaha.

I still have some of the screenies I took of Richard staring himselves down, makes for a good laugh every now and then. Goddamn good times. We were laughing our asses off collectively. I do seem to remember that we simultaneously apologized to the DM on duty at the time. (Robert? Gers?)

Wasn't me, I think. I'm pretty sure I'd remember a horde of Richards.

Yea. I would have not rped with myself. Odd thing was, they seemed normal at the time. The frightening this is, they were. I had that terrible phase as well. I wasn't that bad from the beginning, however. The Mary Sue environment blurred my mind and I started spawning utterly profane travesties in a year from that, but honestly, my first ever character was a silly misfit of a half-orc farmer with a scythe. I could still play that concept wholeheartedly.

You're such vandals. My first proper character that I began playing with was Hunie, and he's still perfect!
