Few minutes, starts like a bit of a delay and ends in total freeze?

On the topic of runningTwo gas company servicemen, a senior training supervisor and a young trainee, were out checking meters in a suburban neighborhood. They parked their truck at the end of the alley and worked their way to the other end.
At the last house a woman looking out her kitchen window watched the two men as they checked her gas meter. Finishing the meter check, the senior supervisor challenged his younger coworker to a foot race down the alley back to the truck to prove that an older guy could outrun a younger one.
As they came running up to the truck, they realized the lady from that last house was huffing and puffing right behind them.
They stopped and asked her what was wrong. Gasping for breath, she replied "When I see two gas men running as hard as you two were, I figured I'd better run too!" A running joke! Anyway - I feel some small spikes. Maybe it's that Neanderthal Belgium kid that have resorted to spamming and overloading the server instead?

You've obviously never had to chase a pig before. Even when you're not wearing wellies or knee deep in their shit, they're harder to catch than a raptor. Just ask Robert Muldoon.

Definitely not alone, I'm actually on the forums because my party logged off as hunting became too dangerous for comfort. Flat-foot ac, spell cast delay, and movement freeze, oh my-
I don't think we're in Kansas anymore.

The last few days now it has seemed to be eternally laggy, my ISP is coming from a server about an hour north of Toronto, to where ever the amia server is at present. Usually happened a lot in WoW too.
Usually in situations like this its someone doing something between me and where my bandwith is going, working on lines, maintainence, etc. But it seems like with so many having issues its affecting a wider swath of a geographical area so now I dont know what the hell.
Last night it ran okay but ill have to see how it behaves when I get home from work tonight.

I have noticed increased lag for the past few days as well. The forest areas do this even when I am alone now. The other day, there was four or five of us and a few animals, and I couldn't even turn the camera without locking the screen for several seconds, I was useless in combat because my character was hopping around so much.

It's been awful, I agree. Even today (6th) at around 7 am for me, I lagged out so bad that I had to log out and log back in just to finish a job-related quest.

Not going to lie the server is running slow. Wife told me about this thread after I restarted my computer and tried to act all tech savvy and stuff. Did the whole check my network thing and all but got told two things.
1) Wife- "Ahh we only have one network the others are the ones around the neighborhood." Me- "*Eyes the Gamer tag thinger in network and brushes nose* pfft I knew that. ((in reality I felt dumb as I didn't know that.))
2) Me- "Bah bloody things running slow again. Must be all the updates and stuff I been delaying and junk. *Fiddles with the updates and restarts computer to find it being slow still.* Wife- "Ahh yah servers slow Disco posted on the forums about it."
And right about there I had the anime blank face as yet again I have been proved to be a idiot. Which is why I stick to BBQing. As it is the one thing my wife cannot do and seems to be the one that I am extremely good at. But yes I believe the server is just slow lately. Hopefully you work it all out.

It appears to be lagging rather wonderfully at the moment. It was fine for me before the reset, after reset it hardly even let me into the server, once i got in i made it out to the Nexus Falls, where i was DC'd, but not removed from the server afaik. I did not get kicked, but i could not get anything typed to go threw, and if i moved my char would return to his previous facing, much like a normal crash.
You been DLing porn onto the server again?

jitters alot recently, and its no longer on my end in my case, my conenction is alot faster than the days where it seamed to always lag for me. (turns out that was my isp's bad.)
i've noticed -alot- more people complaining about the 'invisible creatures' bug also but personally haven't suffered that since before the spider valley change.

Also, last night, my screen blinked and everyone around me was gone, I could still see their text popping up. I logged off and on again, that corrected it.

I get timed out all the time. I'm even close to the server and my ping is always great on Amia. It takes a while, but then I can log back on seeing half of the people still on the server as if nothing happened. It happened about three days ago.

Speaking of I ran into a cluster of this again today, I went so far as to run the modem directly into my PC and use a network monitor, took all the firewalls I had up offline for a while too no changes, the output is throughly down across the board and its localised to Amia only as I logged into 3 other servers hosted in various points on the globe.
Looking at something in the neighbourhood of 600-700ms if not higher regardless of Wifi connections and firewalls present.

Yeah I just ran a tracert because it seems like my household internet runs like crap when I'm on Amia at this time of day.
10 123 ms 121 ms 122 ms xe-8-2-0.ams10.ip4.tinet.net [213.200.81.145] 11 123 ms 123 ms 122 ms grafix-gw.ip4.tinet.net [77.67.94.90] 12 127 ms 126 ms 126 ms csw-1.cpl-mkb.grafix.nl [217.67.247.9] 13 122 ms 122 ms 123 ms mail.amiaworld.net [84.243.255.52]
This is where the hops got lengthy. It's not terrible, but still worse than the sub 30ms the previous hops where. Continuous ping of 340 packets showed just a 6% loss and max of 141ms though. Nothing too major. For comparison, I did a 100 ping of google.com and the results were 6% loss and a max of 56ms.
Could just be my internet right now, too, even though it's been happening for a few days now. But, it's happened before haha.
edit: Also, the forums tend to run like crap too. I can't believe Amia is sucking bandwith from my connection, so I'm really assuming it's our internet. Yay!

grafix-gw.ip4.tinet.net [77.67.94.90] was spewing all over itself. about 7:17 GMT-7. Packetloss and slow throughput. Its currently at 7% or so.
Anything over 2-3% packet loss is unacceptable.
Kind of thing the chicken needs to gab at Grafix.nl about so they can complain to their provider of internets about it.
Also within their own network in europe, even within europe, they're adding 150ms between them and the provider's @ Grafix.nl's connect.
Not acceptable performance at all.

well while everyone else has been complaining about the lag, the server has been running lag free for me. My tell conversations with others have been "Dood, there must be something you are doing. If the system itself were laggy, I'd be the laggiest. Yeah? Well, FU too..."
So, I thought I'd do a traceroute, as a comparison between those with lag and those without.

I was very slow between 0300 - 0400 GMT on 10 May. It was taking up to 5 s at times to open inventory pages or bags, or to speak. I also had some difficulty connecting and NWN actually crashed on me in west Cordor, which hardly ever happens.

Seems about this time is the only time I ever have issues.

edit: nevermind.. discovered the source of this spiking. It's from a recent Win7 Update. If anyone is experiencing this but not using an ipv6 connection, I suggest you do the following: open up cmd with admin rights. write: netsh interface 6to4 set state disabled netsh interface teredo set state disabled then go to your network connections, find the connection, open up properties and make sure ipv6 is unchecked/disabled. Cleared it right up for me. And three curses on microsoft for discontinuing the awesome repair function on network connections..

That's pretty bad... it's the place where about half the connections from the USA enter Western Europe, if I am not mistaken.

I don't know how to use that tracer thing, but I can tell you Amia has, to quote the thread, been running like a pig for me. I checked to see if it was my end and it's not. My internet and computer are fine concerning speed...if anything when it's not storming it's faster than it's ever been. Until I get on Amia...then my character starts to do the running man.

Been getting very weird lag on Amia lately. I'm getting huge lagspikes that I can't track down with tracert, because when they hit everything just freezes so it times out or registres as normal.
It's not my net, I've figured out that much.. so I'm not sure if it's an NWN thing or an Amia thing. If anyone have any tips, it'd be appreciated.
edit:
Tried reinstalling NWN and it didn't fix it.. Also this problem seems localized to server B only.
edit2:
tried pinging mail.amiaworld.net during a 20 second freeze with fast responses and low MS. So it's apparently not that either..
Now I'm guessing it might be a Win7 + NWN thing and gonna try to locate the problem there. If that's it, it might explain why some players get alot of lag, and some don't get any at all.
