Hey Cats and Kittens. I probably should have done this a while ago, but I was reminded of how helpful a post like this would be after receiving a lot of questions from a few different players concerning Cordor and their status. 1. How do I know if I'm exiled from Cordor?Generally, when you ask exiled from Cordor you will be: told IG and ICly while it's happening, in a PM/IC letter (if we are able to find your forum login), or be informed OoCly of your status. This will be done by a Guard player/PC or a DM. If a player is not polite to you OoCly while handling this RP, or any Guard RP, take screenshots and send them to a DM. Factional exiles are all inclusive. Using the Banite faction as an example: If you are a Banite, or you join that faction, you are automatically banned and should not enter Cordor without a DM. 2. How can I have my exile lifted?Exiles are just that-- exiles. They are difficult to have lifted, because they are meant to be permanent, or somewhat permanent. If you have an exiled character, send an IC letter to either myself or Charles1810. Anything else will have to be discovered ICly. If you do not know if you are exiled, ask a DM to check the faction's ban list, or better yet, ask one of the guard players. Do not assume your exile is lifted just because time has passed. 3. Who should I PM if I want to contact the Cordor Guard faction?4. How do I join the Cordor Guard faction? The Cordor Guard faction recruits members ICly, and through an application process. You can PM any of the above people with an IC note and get one fairly quickly for your PC if you cannot find one of us IG. 5. I'm naughty and exiled, but I want to sneak into Cordor! What can I do?The rule of thumb is to not go into any areas with the "Cordor:" name in them, or you'll be metagaming. If you want to sneak into Cordor, you need a DM to supervise you and play the NPCs. This is valid even if you are "disguised." The punishment for ignoring exiles and by extension, NPCs, is posted here: Ignoring NPCs/Guards - Don't Do It. Or Else. The DM stance (which is current, to my knowledge) is shown here: I -think- that covers all of the questions I've received lately. I hope that helps. -BoB

Alright kids. This is for people who have active applications out and have been discouraged because of the old recruitment system. After considering it and having it brought up a few times ICly and OoCly, the applications for the Cordor Guard faction no longer need guard signatures. Once you complete them, just send them in and we'll get the ball rolling. I think that will be more convenient and efficient for everyone. You can assume that if your character is contactable, they'd be informed of this change. Hugs and kisses, everyone. Here is to less tears and grey hairs.

Indeedy. It'll be optional now, and should be a better system with the way things are going. Healthier for the faction/players, and so on.

The whole signature thing works a lot better when you have a lot of members in the faction and thus a lot of options for a potential recruit to impress. Atm, it's heartbreak hotel.

Quite. This was a change I should have made some time ago, but alas. This will be a better system for the current state of the faction.

As a long time former player in the guard faction I think this post is an excelent piece of work, and the removal of the guard signature on the application is a great move. Thumbs up all round from me. I just wish I'd thought of it when I was captain Good work, Burningoutbright!

Well, good changes so far, I suppose. Sometimes I do think if I should create a new guard PC just for laughs.

Are there any IC requirements and restrictions apart from 'as long as your not exiled' Such as alignment, classes, (sub)races?

For the most part it is a case by case situation. Of course Barbarians are not permitted since of the delicate of the situation of being a Guard, as well the fact that Barbarians often times are unable to read or write which is a major aspect of being a Guard. In the past it was not permitted to be goblin, Hobgoblin, kolbold, or any other skin that can not visually wear the Guard uniform, but due to the new haks that may be added soon that could be changed as well.

BoB can correct me if need be, but I blieve Drow (even those with the Shrine's approval) are not allowed, and tieflings seem to be very very cautiously watched, due to Previous IC Events?

For example I can think of a few drow that if they wished in the guard and Nev said no Bells would make her life hell on earth til she approved.

^ I can agree Bels would do that. But yes, case by case. We interview and scrutinize over each apllication

It's case by case. We don't turn away Barbarians OoCly-- as in, it's an IC reason why we're like 'Eh, no', for the reasons Charles mentioned. But if you have a literate barbarian who doesn't hulk smash everything, it would likely be acceptable; but we do turn away shifters for obvious reasons.
Drow (even shriners) and tieflings are heavily scrutinized, as are half-orcs. [?]DDs, too, but those are all IC reasons and preferences. Goblins and kobolds and hobgoblins were restricted before because of the lack of clothing models (something I inherited as a rule from Brainsplitter) and they're monster-y. It may change soon, though, for the goblins and kobolds since they can wear clothes now. If so, they'll likely be treated with the same scrutiny as the tieflings and drow and half-orcs and so on.
Also, OoC alignment isn't a factor. If you can slip it past us, or convince us, you may be brought in.

Bump for helpfulness! Some of you have sent me PMs that have gone unanswered, and I'm sorry for it. Please resend them to Charles1810 for a speedier response. For those of you sitting on applications, I'll be in game in a few days to get things rolling. Just so you know I haven't forgotten about you all. Peace!

Good morning childrens. I am back and will be doing Guardly things, like applications! This is a general statement for people to PM me, or catch me in game to do fun things you've all been waiting for.

Query: Is it fine for banned people to send in their bat/bird familiars within Cordor without DM supervision? Assuming that said person has sent the familiar from a spot like the sewers where he isn't metagaming the guards by being there.
Bats during the night and birds whenever doesn't seem overly suspicious or would warrant much in the way of reactions assuming they don't do anything out of the ordinary.
But yeah, I undersand if they aren't, since there's always the chance of the person possessing the familiar and doing something extremely unbat/birdlike.

I want to say I read somewhere that you can not due to the reasoning you stated, far to much questionable with some players not being able to properly roleplay being that said animal. I know being a shifter even shifting into another form you still would need dm supervision. Trying to track down where it has been stated that you would still need dm supervision or a blunt no you can not do this with a possed familiar, and will edit once I find it.

The ruling I've heard of most often, that applies to all banned areas and not just Cordor, is that familiars should not be sent into banned areas.

Real quick request on my part, dears. When you send/forward me an application for the Guard, please don't name it anything different than "Cordor Guard Application" (aka what you should start with when its sent to you.) Your application will probably get lost/deleted in my mess of a PM box with a million "A note"s and "A letter"s.
Thanks!

Thank you, Bells

Bump ba-da bump! Hey everyone, just wanted to let you know that if you've been mulling over a guard character and have been having a rough time getting started, we're going to be really focusing on recruitment lately to refresh our numbers. It seems a lot of us have been eaten by one of two monsters: altisis or real life. I've been plagued by both of them, and they are no bueno. P.S. If anyone has sent me a PM within in the last week or so and I haven't responded, I apologize. It seems some PMs are getting lost, and I'll admit to having been incredibly lazy while having a better time dancing around in the sunlight like a born-again hippie. If you think you've been missed, give me a kick in the tush while I'm in game, or send me another PM. I should be responding to the ones that appear the most recent and important. Guard recruit people, also send me a PM because my interest is severely waning at the prospect of staying on all day and night to wait for folks. It'd be super helpful if I knew when to look for you. This also includes criminal-PCs who are waiting for responses because they're locked in the dunge--prison. I'm willing to put in at most two days for this, and the rest is just random hours when I feel like it.

Dear Beloved Amians,
For those of you who have sent me PMs and haven't heard back for X amount of days/weeks, I'm sorry for that. I've been preoccupied with real-lifey things, but I'm planning to put aside some time soon at some time of day. Mostly, I want to say I appreciate your patience while I'm being lame and boring.
See you assorted folks soon, hopefully.
