There are truly some gems in this discussion!
A - Random adventuring party opposing you! B - Trigger spawns, One spawn is actually 2-3 Spawns that come wave after wave. C - deadly Madda fakking super spawns, Which have a super low chance of triggering D - But overall More spawns.
And yes - Please, Can we fix the flayer den a little? One of the fixes would be to perhaps only spawn those Umberhulks at the lower levels, where they actually -Fit- and don't block doors. >.<

chefwudan wrote: IMO there is nothing wrong with the spawns, but us as players. Most of us, usually after short while of hunting figure out the weakness and defenses of each mob area and prepare and buff accordingly. We (through human nature) pretty much meta the areas with every new PC we make. I am guilty of this myself. How many of us get to the mindflayers and suddenly are like "Crap, i forgot to get mind blanks" or Yuan-ti's with poison and whatnot. They could put all the different monsters they want and once we as players figure out what works we take advantage of it to keep us alive.
The real problem is when you work your way through spawn in the Alabaster(sp?) sea on your way to darkness spending all that time to get to him and find some PM standing around the boss area waiting for it to respawn over and over and over again. The 30-45 mins you've spent to get there is now all for not. ALL epic bosses should spawn only once per reset IMO. Darkness is supposed to (only be 1/reset). I want his name, he wil be getting a talking to and probably a temporary ban.

...Wait, Why would he be getting a ban? He obviously didn't abuse the system, The system allows for darkness to spawn more than once for each player per reset - If anybody has done anything wrong, it's the Boss itself. (Aka - The script that spawns the boss more than once) Can't punish the citizen because the law is faulty.

Law cant be held responsible or considered faulty if he was camping a boss, Sven. Rules are meant to be followed.

Yeah but ... I can't find the rule which says "Do not camp a boss". Because technically, you can't. Only this boss which spawns more than once, and that's obviously a hickup of the system?
If anything, it's abusing a glitch.
Edit - *Surprised!* Well call me a town horse! I missed that part entirely!

your a town horse, and even if it wasn't against the rules it still has no place on an RP server, would you sit around in a huge cavarn that not a minute ago housed a giant freaking death thing? no, so don't do it IG *nodnod*

If "obvious" is the name of Tormak's backhand attack, then yes. Yes you did.
Anyways, how would limiting a boss to one per reset fix things? Actand would become horribly impossible.

One boss per player, Per reset. Like it's now.

I missed that part entirely! if they were a good player they would report said glitch and not use it(you know that voice in the back of our head saying this is easy as pie...well thats telling you its a glitch) when the monster the loot did not move and I could melee attack it with a scythe and it was out of range to hit me, I reported it because that had to be a glitch. the object you could "desecrate" to spawn a monster to give you a key. well it had no cooldown and it gave EXP,loot and gold... you could spam it non-stop and in turn you could have got never ending gold. common sense people... if its to good to be true, then chances are it is, ask a DM to be sure your not exploiting

AFAIK there's already a limit. 1 boss per 1 character per 1 reset.

on the note of the idea of double spawning by design, I am not actually against this, if you try to sneak around the back of a mob and go to far this can happen as it is, and it doesn't usually cause noticable lag, though it can...
at any rate, surviving such double spawns is alot harder than your average single spawn of a mob, and imho feels generally more epic and noticable a battle than a single mob, as others have also said. however this idea is a killer to lowbies and should if implimented by design probably be used later on in the leveling ladder.

I am slightly confused. Is the hunting jobs? Or just part of general spawns?

Wont we just go the easier places? And with 2-3 times of spawns, who cares if they gives less xp pr kill. C: Could also be fun, but with the new gold loss on dead, hmm, alot of us will maybe switch server real fast in case of such spawns I fear. Theres also something called: wandering monsters. Imagen we never knew just where the next spawns is, cause well, the monsters wander around the area. I have played with it on another server and it requires a whole new sence of tactic. But maybe it will cause heavy lag, dunno.

Would't care if they gave less XP or anything, as long as there's plenty of spawns coming at you, That'll make it challenging and actually make it feel like you're invading a clan of orcs or a true mindflayer den, where hundreds of slaves are sent towards you!

This topic doesn't appeal to me at all.
I'll not inflict pain on people by upsetting the current spawn balance to appease the wants of the Collective Uberization of Numerous Toons faction of Amia.
Boss' I will look into however, what with the gold cap penalty removed and Dev Crit no longer being a serious issue I think its time to hamper down like Yogi bear.

Probably true, there's a few who wants it to be harder, and a few who wants it to be easy. The veterans, like me sadly, wants it to be more difficult - Because i've seen amia in it''s full splendour and wants to challenge myself, albeit the rookie may not share my viewpoint at all.
But looking forward to see the bosses rewamped

A suggestion, make bosses not go it alone. Give them mini-bosses like the Abominable Snowbeast. There's no reason a boss has gotta be all on his lonesome. He's a fuggen boss. Like Rick Ross. And Rick Ross always rolls deep with his posse.

Why is the Undead Pirate not considered an epic boss anymore? Are there any others who are no longer epic? Who is Rick Ross?

The Pirate was changed because The Loot is so hard to kill, and people would just kill the Pirate and leave the Loot. Makes sense the Loot would have the epic treasure though, and the Pirate is just its guardian.
No, all other epic bosses are still epic, people were just being cheap, so the Pirate was changed.
If you don't know who Rick Ross is(or can't be arsed to Google), then you can gheeeeet-ooooooowt.

Dunno if this is OT:
What about making certain areas only available for parties of at least a certain number of people?
One example: A fighter and wizard head into a dungeon. They find a door that will only open when you push/pull three buttons/switches at the same time, thus, they need another party member. (or the wizard should have his familiar activate the third switch)
Just some food for thought from my side.

Fire Giant King: Gawd, I feel like a stroll... 'ow about you luv?[...] Tee hee. This also reminds me of the time when I was still DMing of seeing Kjetta's incredibly well-equipped WM Al'Tustra facerolling giants on his way towards the FGK's lair, with an extremely easy win in mind. I turned off the spawns in the throne room, spawned an FGK and took the time to rejig his spellbook so it didn't suck, and buffed that big bad boy up until Kjetta got one hell of a shock. Sonofabitch lived, but it cost a stack of Heals and these days he'd have been toast with the cooldown.

This is what I call a "level 30 mindset." This entire conversation is ridiculous. Don't change a thing. If you just want to up the CR of a hunt then delevel a bit and try to solo the abyss at lvl 14. Done... and that's all this is getting at. Random party to oppose you.... okay, this is wonderful. Are they AS strong as the mobs, LESS STRONG than the mobs or MORE STRONG than the mobs? Obviously they are meant to be stronger, since the Mage/Ftr/Rogue/Archer thing can pretty much be seen some places already, and that makes the "random party" moot... just make it another spawn if they're the same CR. If they are LESS strong, then... wtf? SWEEP. If they are MORE strong... well, See the part earlier that I said about being level 14. And the random "uber" party... okay, again... delevel yourself. Find a new server of which you do not know the ins and outs. Do something, but please -do not- discuss mindlessly increasing the CR of dungeons for, and repeat after me, class, NO DAMN REASON.There. I said it.

Perhaps if the random party was equiped with PvP in mind as opposed to carrying the usual assortment of flaming claws, rusty axes, gnawed bones and odd treasure that monster spawns carry it could make for an awesome surprise fight.
Would it be that hard to have the hypothetical party trigger as soon as you enter the area and begin fightimg a spawn there? Would be pretty fun... and could drop some cool RP items.

Some of the monsters themselves could use with a re-tooling too, like the fire giants, we had made those in mind to be a level 26-28 spawn zone. It happens, when we first split from the other server all the Amian spawns were retooled. (Okay some weren't and jesus does it ever show. And frankly they all cant be winners anyway.)
We had a "Dont punish the players for playing" mindset and so rolled out things with not-so-player-murdering abilities. (Like those brog orcs? Used to be hellballing Dev critting item stealing goblins...yeah. Really.)
Now with all your new fangled Mythals, and Flame weapon actually adding damage you whippersnappers have these days some of the older fellows are getting curbstomped by painfully low people these days, and thats swell too. Its what monsters are there for, murder!
Sometimes the issue is ~all~ the bosses are being held up by folks running which I mean with 120 players between 2 servers it is going to happen eventually too.

He totally gave my adventure party a trip that will never be forgotten there. We were level 22-25ish?.. and.. Yeah. All the spawns were replaced with other things. Actual dangerous epic/deadly fire traps, fire elementals, the fire giant shaman females doing nasty things, tons of fire elemental spawns. We made it to the caves though, after much exertion and fun. Where we were all horribly slaughtered by a 30 foot tall fire elemental superheating the air. >.> Epic, memorable. For my non-epic boss favorite, the current, or at least 1 year old or so incarnation of the beetle in the desert is awesome fun.

I don't think I've fought any of the epic bosses other than the fire giant. I kind of, actually, just poked my head in here, read it, and giggled when I read what Collective Uberization of Numerous Toons would spell if you shortened it into just the capital letters. I don't know if Chris did that on purpose.

Yowlers actually, and rediculously broken, just like some of the other old world crap. Anyway back on topic somewhat yeah there used to be a beetle boss and a dragon boss up in there. That dragon along with the prismatic one near wharftown were a few in the series of "Lets make dragons patently rediculous, because they are." And then I murdered them all.
