That's not really a lore question. It's more a rules question. Any infiltration of a place where you are banned requires DM oversight, period.

Yes, because ICly a White looks NOTHING like a Silver. It would not happen. Ignore Svensk.

Yes, it would be.

Again, ignore Svensk's incorrect attempts to play mini DM.

Quick question about Awaken as far as NWN and this server goes... Awaken doesn't make said creature sentient as far as the lore of this server goes does it? I can point to the SRD on Awaken here... http://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/SRD:Awaken

I assume since d20 srd has the exact same description this is out of the PHB. nwn has a vastly different use for the spell, and is most definatly used on an animal companion. not sure what to make of this one.

WYSIWYG. It is a spell that works between the bond of Druid and Companion to elicit incredible strength within the companion.

The 1d10 from Wisdom at least represents something. Maybe not sentience and certainly not gaining a language, but I figure that gives the animal some higher reasoning capabilities.

For instance, my druid on another server would keep Owl's Insight and Awaken on his bear companion at all times. I RPed the bear acting in a way similar that a human would of the same intelligence(low) and without the speaking capabilities. He of course couldn't talk, do math, or the such, but when it came to making a shelter, gathering food/resources or anticipating weather and natural phenomena, he could pretty much put any human of lesser wisdom to shame, easily. He was as well able to reason and override his natural fight-or-flight responses. Example: If a child accidentally dropped a stone on his foot, he would realize it as such, and while he might snarl, he wouldn't attack them instinctively. And probably even if they did do it on purpose, he'd just move away, realizing that the child probably doesn't know what he's doing.

As it is related to some RP that can actually begin moving forwards, would a scroll of 'find familiar' work/exist in 3.5?

Perhaps I have been playing a bit too much BG2, but I have been considering putting in a request for Eli in getting a cat familiar (based on the pixie or panther perhaps?) that I could RP with that also has an eye for shiny things and wishing acquire more of them to play with ala purely RP'd pick pocket. The only snag I am hitting is that I am unsure if it is even possible for a Warlock to get a living breathing familiar At all, and the only reference I found for finding a familiar is limited to the Item Familiar feat outlined in Unearthed Arcana.

@Dusty: I don't think there'd be anything against it. But at first look, it seems like the "ritual" that all wizzies/sorcs undergo to get a familiar. Ritual, as in it is something you can do with or without such a spell. There's nothing that says such a method couldn't be used, but there's nothing to imply it must, either.

But you've come across your greatest snag already; Warlocks don't have familiars in any version of DnD afaik. Familiars are something reserved for more streamlined spellcasters ie wizards and sorcerers. Hence, why Bards cannot gain familiars. Ultimately, even if there were such a scroll, my guess is it would summon some mundane creature, but as you have a warlock not capable of gaining familiar, nothing would happen behind a cat showing up like "Lulwut?".

But... I could see RPing some "fiendish servant/companion" or "fey ally" for Fiendish Pact or Fey Pact, respectively. Just some creature of a similar outlook to the warlock that chooses to hang around him. The easiest thing to represent those would be Imp and Pixie, respectively. Or even Hell Hound and Faerie Dragon.

There is no light emitted from it. It gives the Ultravision effect, which brightens up the area around your PC, but doesn't give any light.

I can't seam to find anything about specifically how spellcasters attain a familiar in the complete arcane, I may however be slighty distracted by the awesome prestige classes =D how exactly does that work again? I know theres some sort of magic involved, but there is also the option of literally meeting the creature previously in life I believe and later binding it to yourself ? (I have almost always done something to this effect.)

srd d20 literally just says "when a spellcaster summons their familiar" but something more specific would be dandy. (to be specific "when summoned to service by" is about as much lore as I can gather.)

So find familiar is limited to Wizards and Sorcs, and not accessible to other arcane base classes?

cheers guys, looks like a white Wyrmling aint gunna work as a familiar straight off at least, guess I could say the character in question take the advanced familiar feat later in leveling, then it makes less sense for him to find one, unless of course he returns to his old home to raise hell I 'spose... hmm.

I assume your question revolves around a Warlock: To my knowledge Warlocks don't get familiars.

Mine as well, bu I thought it worth while to double check the lore and see if there wasn't a feat that was request-able or such.

Nope. Awaken works different on Amia and lore-strict NWN game play in general for good reason. Using awaken makes your animal companion, which is an animal, a magical beast for a full 24 hours. Magical beasts can not be animal companions and so your animal companion connection would cease to be.

Question on Darkhold:

I couldn't find anything on the wiki about it. I've been in the lower level and... what's up with the dragon? I get the story behind her, but is she killable?
I was higher level when I went down there, but nothing really worked to damage her. Now, I've never fought a dragon on Amia so I'm guessing it could be resistances and such, but I wanted to check.

So, is she killable or is it some sort of quest you have to do?

Epic spell research for divine works in the same way it does for arcanists.

however spells provided for non-epic, i thought those are completely... god granted?

Look for something from your gods domains and make a request i would say, would be the best course of action. If you want to 'research new spells'. . .you probably should be an arcanist, no?

Maybe my point of view is off.

All that exists is the basic info. Anything else you're gonna find is gonna be like in a novel or if you're lucky, some obscure FR lore sourcebook mentions something about it. What particularly are you looking for? Everything's pretty much spelled out in the SRD.

To best honest that is what I think is the answer, Dwagin.
Arcane magicers research, diviners are granted them. That makes the most sense to me.

Prayer, I think, would be the way they would get them. As in, praying for aid in doing something, and getting a spell in return. If that makes sense.

Yep. I've probably said it 10 times in this thread.

Clerics/Druids/Rangers/Paladins -> Prayer, meditation, searching out forgotten prayers, worthiness in the eyes of deity, how the requested effect lines up with deity's dogma.

Sorcerers/Wizards/Bards -> Experimentation, research, seeking out forgotten magic(wizards, bards), exploring details and powers of the creature(s) in their heritage(sorcerers, bards), steal the idea or scroll from a sorcerer or wizard that actually deserves to cast magic.....(bard).

I would avoid such sweeping generalizations because there's always exceptions and different views. (Especially when it comes to bards, but also priests.) That's not to say your generalization isn't fair, it's quite close to what I might say if I was forced to.

I imagine the theoretical theological training of a priest can be quite rigorous, so I have no doubt many faiths expect the priests to do research for their spells. They're highly trained intellectuals, not just mystics. Mind that research is not at all synonymous with invention or experimentation.

All that exists is the basic info. Anything else you're gonna find is gonna be like in a novel or if you're lucky, some obscure FR lore sourcebook mentions something about it. What particularly are you looking for? Everything's pretty much spelled out in the SRD.

Particulary im looking for described ritual. I tend to go with material component when attempting to cast PnP spell. More fun.
