Hey All, hope you all doing good. Quick question.
I was in Amia forest with a palemaster, I was the aggressor for all purposes. After a well rped conflict, and fight, I emoted *growls in irrtiation and retreats* . *whinces and runs away* etc.
So I ran away from amia forest. Now..what happened was I was chased continously past the amia forest transition, and attacked for many transitions, over and over again.(at least 3) I sent tell saying, good fight mate, but its over and it was refused saying they have a right to chase me through and through, attacking me over and over again.
Is this correct? What is the official rules on this and if someone could point me in the right direction that would be great. ie. thread etc.

Here's my understanding of the rules (I might be incorrect, but here goes)
- If they are consistantly after you in pursuit, the sustained attack is fair. If you are able to sufficiently escape and hide for a certain amount of time (hard to determine but be reasonable)
- If however, you managed to escape clean and they find you more like a half hour to an hour, or even hours later.. it's a seperate animal and I think unless all sides consent, that's where there's trouble starts.

Quote: 3. You must give the other party a reasonable chance to back down from the PvP In Character.
11. If you clearly escape scene, you may not continue the ”same” PvP later...ect alot of people get the rules mixed up I think, see you have to let them back down befor PVP is started, in the case of locations like amia forest and areas if they ask you to leave or be removed thats them offering you a way out of PVP. but rule 11 is not a rule to say they have to let you flee, its the rule saying if they do let you get away, you cant rest, buff up, potion then run back in and stab them. I know I have ran after people for more then 6 zones till I lost them because I ran out of haste potions on my quick bar. in most cases I will give up 1 zone away if they are just some minor person but if they are a big PVPer who IC would not let get away then I'll chase them till they are infront of NPC guards and metagame rules stops me,they lose me, or they are dead.

Thanks and noted. This was not a grievance issue, but a rules clarification issue. The players were all good and there was no grief at all. So no dirty laundry. Could not find it listed on the PVP rules thread. Ie. the issue regarding transitions.

I think the only not listed rule that deals with transitions is dont spam them to lose someone with a slower connection or to buy time for your heal potions...ect
falls under the dont be a D-bag rule of unlisted rules.

Just for clarification of future endeavors, if someone is being pursued through a transition, has not been lost from sight and was previously given PVP outs that they ignored, the pursuing is deemed 'legit'?
Transition area of pvp rules seems a little grey so just asking to be certain.

falls under the dont be a D-bag rule of unlisted rules. Yep. Do not go back through the same pair of transitions over and over to evade people. That's what mainly constitutes abuse. Running across an area and going through multiple ones is perfectly legit. As is pursuing them through those transitions. If you lose sight of them for like 10+ minutes though, I'd consider them to have escaped.

Transition area of pvp rules seems a little grey so just asking to be certain. It is a little gray, but this is an area where the dreaded "common sense" must come into play. If your character is chasing someone and can reasonably stay close to the person or find them in a reasonable amount of time, then it's all good. If you go on about your way and find the person by accident later on, then you can't go up and shank him in the kidneys without warning.

Yeah I've heard similar stff in the past. Transition means nothing if there an angry mob chasing you down becouse you tried to attack them and failed. You are being chased after. IC there is no areas, and there is no blue portals at the end of the portion of the road. You either escape from the angry mob by outrunning them, or you menage to reach the neutral, NPC guarded ground.

I know this thread began like 5 days ago so it's of little use to post now, but: Vinasius wrote: I was in Amia forest with a palemaster, I was the aggressor for all purposes. After a well rped conflict, and fight, I emoted *growls in irrtiation and retreats* . *whinces and runs away* etc. I bolded what got me as part of the problem. If you'd lost the fight, you likely shouldn't be running away as you were subdued and it'd be up to the victor to decide what happens to you.

Lost the 'fight' but didnt get subdued.I beat two other pcs' ie killing them, the third was a shadowdancer who kept spamming hips. So obviously if my toon cant take him out, and seeming as he has 30 intel running away before the druid posse comes would be a smart idea.

Thought you'd fallen in combat rather, since that's pretty much how most fights end. If he didn't kill you or knock you out at all, then never mind.

Is there a rule about transition ganking out of interest? That is, ganking people as they go through a transition. It was a technique that I've seen used on other servers (not here as yet) that's kind of deadly as someone is in the process of transiting through. They generally end up dead before their screen has even loaded (especially if the ganker is a sneaker).
Its definitely not playing nice, but I don't know if its against the rules per se. For the record, I don't engage in it, as I consider it not playing nice.

Setting traps at a transition is against the rules.
RPing without PVP is against the rules, so if you randomly gank someone in a transition, and they don't know it's coming, you screwed up somewhere.
If you catch them legal like after RPed conflict, sucks to be them.

The idea tat you would need to ask about if an OOC area movement mechanic that doesn't exist IC is fair game to use in PvP.... welp.
