Brandobaris, what a mouthful I have today to tell you!

Johanna left me in charge of the Quins so long ago when she went to become Mayor of this fine shire. The changes you have made through her are incredible - I remember so long ago when I first entered the Dale with the kill-joy Hin Fist terrorizing and controlling the lives of all the Hins. Now it's a laid back and happy fort! But my story is getting off trail here... oh right! Then because as you know my heart jumped at another adventure and I let the road sweep me off my feet, the position of head prankster was split between me and Willie. Then when my adventure saw another adventure, the position of head prankster went to Willie! Hah! I just found this out tonight! The life of disorganization and not planning is really the best kind - carefree and trouble-less.

I better let the other Harlequins know that Willie can make the Haunt then! Maybe he'll plan something fun with this new election... I wonder if I can nominate Johanna again!

Blade is seen in the Dale again with the shining, gem-encrusted clasp of Yondalla pinned so it rests over her heart and easily visible.

She leaves messages with the Council members, her hood pulled low enough to hide her full expression, and speaks only if necessary and, then, as few words as possible. Turning to leave the town hall, she pauses as she sees one of the election notices and takes the time to read it over, then shakes her head, glancing back towards Tak and Nof, but simply turns and leaves.

Her feet take her to the back of the town hall, where she leans against the building and watches the militia at their daily drills for a while, waiting for a break. She doesn't leave until they finally take a break and, then, she moves up to the Drill Master.

"'ey, ya seen those 'lection no'ices ye'? Any idea if they're gonna be changing the m'litia 'round 'gain?"

"The name of the "Irregulars" is going to change, but otherwise the structure should remain the same. There will be two co-captain vacancies once the new Mayor is in place. Co-Captains stay on even after the term of the mayor is complete so that they can assure a peaceful roll over into the next mayor's term when their replacements are selected."
*Nina mentions in passing, having overheard as she looked at the river.*

Blade looks around to Nina, her expression unreadable under her hood, then she nods and moves to mingle with the "regular" militia members on their break, making small talk about families and duties and what time drills start and end. Then, when they go back to drilling, Blade returns to leaning on the town hall, watching the drills and drilling without interrupting or causing any distractions.

Brandy is seen throwing shows between Bendir Dale and Cordor for the Adventurer fund. It appears she has made literally thousands of coins thus far.

However town hall hasn't seen a coin go into there pockets yet... is the Harlequin running her own fund??

Juliette looks over the post, but has apparently no interest in the least to cast a nomination, or at least at this time. She skips off to find Johanna now that she is free of her pesky job.

For a few days, Blade appears in the morning when drills start and leans on the weapon rack, watching. If anything's needed, she goes to get it. If anyone's hurt, she bandages them up. During breaks, she mingles with the militia members, talking about their families, their position in the militia, the weather, food, whatever comes up. When they're finally dismissed, she throws a salute to the Drill Master and heads back off to her room.

*Nina can be seen going about the Dale, doing whatever the council asks of her to ensure the elections remain fair and unhindered by outsiders. She was seen yesterday sitting with Cindle, dictating and signing posters, and early the next day slipping about with her portal wand, posting up the sheets of paper wherever she could get to with ease.*

*Tomas Twinkney back from his last hiatus sends a note to teh town hall regarding the jobs/duties of the Mayor and what responsibilites the Mayor will have.*

For the past several years, I've maintained a dual-citizenship between Wharftown and Bendir Dale to focus on the two things that mean the most to me. I've watched Bendir Dale grow over the past several seasons with a careful eye, one ear always put to the ground. Though I may not occupy my room in the inn more than a few nights a tenday, most of my day is spent in our Dale's square, when service at my temple doesn't keep me.

It is for this reason that I'd gladly accept nomination. Double if Fendel will let me paint my room a different color (joking). It's a demanding office that requires intense dedication, a dedication I'm wholly ready to devote for the betterment of our Dale. I'll be using my room more often to better avail myself to my fellow Dalers.

A good mayor is many things. They should be a guide and an instrument for the will of their voters, driving their constituency toward the best direction of progress. They should also be a strong and decisive decision maker, willing to take the reins when stagnation threatens. They should be a reliable fixture. They should be an ambassador and the coordinator of external relations. A good mayor won't flinch in the face of difficulty, but will gladly and quietly accept the opportunity to guide their town to a greater good. The cornerstone of a good mayorship, however, is delegation. They should not be afraid of appointing the right people to advise them on matters they may be less than superb in.

If elected, I will leave Lyam Thornhill in his position as captain of the guard and put my considerations for another co-captain to Lyam and the council, should that position remain open. The reason I mention this is because I will select Nina Thorrow-Meadowlark as my deputy mayor. I feel she is similiar enough for us to get along, but different enough from me to provide valuable insight I may miss.

Brandy Bramblefoot pondered for a while before putting Lyle Torrowfire as her second nomination. She thinks before writing Lyle's name down:

Closest candidate to a Harlequin (literally)... I think all of Johanna's hard work finally payed off for turning this one around. Well who am I to give her all the credit - I helped turned that sour peg-leg of a Hin into a part jokester myself! All the Quins did - but I hope that sway of Brandobaris made a lasting impression... got to keep it in the family after all anyways! Hah!

Blade would be slightly surprised at Egan's appearance, though, as she meets more people 'keeping an eye on the militia boys' it becomes more expected, but she'd nod and help him with the soup (if allowed), at least as long as he's around the drilling grounds. Then she'd salute him with a very faint smile and go back to her fetch-and-step and watching of the drilling grounds, starting to fit a bit more comfortably into acting as an occasional healer (for the cuts, sprains, and bruises, at least) and the water-deliverer for those who drill, staying nearby for the whole length of drill-days.

Hello kin, and friends!

Most of our elder citizens know of me as one of the constant members of any adventuring branch of the towns defenses for some time. Some of our new folks likely know me as one of the present Co-Captains for the "Irregulars." I think most of you know me though as the recent mother of two and the originator of the local 'fireworks' magic and light shows that bring joy and awe to all that celebrate with us Hin.

Introductions aside, "How's it going?" I wish to know, truly, as any leader in any capacity should too. I wish to know what people want out of their government and do whatever is possible in my power to get it done. I recognize that not everything is going to be perfect for everybody, but the goal is to make it as good as it can be for the majority. After all, the most important job of a mayor is to listen to those that appointed them and act in their best interests. That being said, here are a few ideas things I can think of off the top of my head that I would want to put to votes if elected as mayor:

Change the name of the Irregulars (The name makes it sound like we are odd balls, and while we all can be a bit eccentric, I just don't think we are -that- out of the ordinary. After all, adventuring is perfectly acceptable by any of the races that make up this town.)

Set up a donations bin for our Regular militia! (We are a town with a large adventuring population. If any of you fellow adventurers are like me, we have old sets of magic armor, weapons, and other things that we simply do not use anymore. As such, it is my proposition that we donate what we have to spare to the wonderful Hin who brave the odds and hostile threats, put their lives on the line keeping us safe from harm on a daily basis. They deserve it!)

Attempt to hold monthly celebrations! (Even in the most dire of situations, our respective races all share the unique talent of discovering the silver lining. As such I feel there is no reason why we shouldn't celebrate more often!)

Reinstate the old patrol routes, to be covered by the (hopefully by that point renamed) Irregulars. (Bendir Dale is unique in that it is filled with likable folks. Friendship comes easy to us and it is for the sake of existing friendship I would wish to offer aid to our allies in order to strengthen those bonds. Nothing can trump the spirit of a Gnome, Fey, Dwarf, or Hin. We all know that and that should be something we bring to the rest of this island!)

That is about all I can think of right now, so in short, I humbly accept the nomination and as always will serve the Dale in any capacity that is asked of me.

Brandy Bramblefoot looks at the notices at the Town Hall's Adventurer Fund and stands before whatever residents are around at the time (open to player posting).

Since when was the "Adventurer Fund" so picky and choosy? I don't think that one new adventurer got help since it was out of the Harlequins hand or at least there is no communication here that tells me otherwise! I was once a new adventurer to this town many moons ago - some of you remember! And this fund was my helping hand and should be for all new adventurers.

That's why I am starting up a new Adventurer Fund - donate if you'd like! An adventurer fund that really does help the unskilled, young or new adventurers that come around to our shire. I already have raised 100,000 coins by myself from random good hearted folk a like. I haven't touched - or in fact, even seen the Town Hall's fund! This movement lost its way and it's time for this Lightfoot Hin to get the Adventurer Fund back on the correct path.

I'm returning back to the grass roots movement it once was - Brandobaris using the Harlequins to help all adventurers. Just think of the amount of stories everyone will be able to tell once they start their own adventure!

In good faith to all adventuring across the isle, I aided a dwarf and human who were new to the isle with a small amount of coin. Over a couple of days, anyone passing by Blade's inn room would catch the unmistakable smell of bleach and then the less-noticeable (but still strong) smell of dyes during the day. When she gets off of a day of watching/helping out the drilling militia, she would be seen taking a large bundle of clothing into the washroom in the Inn to wash out the bleach/dye, then carrying it all back to her room, to hang out the window(s) to dry.

As this happens, her normal (black and green) outfit would be replaced by a slightly older, all-black one, but the Yondalla pin would always be visible over her heart.

Brandy Bramblefoot hangs another sign to better explain the newly arisen fund after a meeting of prankster minds. She literally looks at the old Adventurer Fund notices for inspiration!

What is the Harlequin Adventurer Fund?
========================================
The Harlequin Adventurer Fund has been established by the Harlequins of Brandobaris. This fund gives to young, new or unskilled residents of Bendir Dale (with the odd exception) that require some help with there first steps of adventure. Everyone needs a helping hand when they first start out! The Harlequin Adventurer Fund will supply these Hin, Gnomes, Dwarves or Fey with some basic equipment such as weapons, armor or items they may find useful in their travels. It is expected that they later donate to the fund when they are well to do later on in life to help pay back for the aid the fund gave them.

This fund has been made by the Harlequins of Brandobaris to aid new adventurers as the fund in Town Hall has been dusty for far too long and can practically not be touched by any. The Harlequins are looking to be efficient, open minded and approachable with this fund!!

How to apply for an adventurer grant

Any resident of Bendir Dale may apply for a grant, adventuring items, advice or schooling by locating Brandy Bramblefoot or the Harlequins of Brandobaris. Details are appreciated when applying in person... letters may be used to arrange a meeting time! All transactions are done in person.

A resident must have at least ONE sponsor (who is also a resident) who can vouch for this person.

Another short note is added after that sentence, but if seen while writing it, Ruby is grinning as she does.

Blade now appears as the militia start their drills, wearing her old outfit, but now in plain browns and steels and, instead of the hood pulled low to cover her face, she wears a hood-mask combo. The only obvious differences between her and the drillers is her cloak, the Yondalla clasp over her heart, and... well, the fact that she's obviously a hen among the roosters. And, of course, she doesn't actually join in the drills, but stays nearby, always watching, ready to heal, pass out water, or do whatever's needed.

And now, though the bleach and dye smells have faded, the sound of sawing or hammering comes from her room after drills finish (though never too late or early). If asked to stop by Fendel, the sounds cease, but Blade will vanish from the Dale (after drills, of course) for a little while each night.

For now I believe the present arrangement to be satisfactory, if in form alone. However, I recognize the large contributions and activity of our Gnomish citizens as of late, in addition to the swell in their numbers, and I would much like to ensure that they too feel properly represented. It would please me to no end to see the same go for the other races of the Dale, Dwarves and Fey alike, regretfully, however, there are not presently as many of them as there are Hin and Gnomes. Afterall, Bendir may have been a fort created by Hin, but as Hin, we know that it is in sharing and being respectful of our neighbors that we fully fulfill what is asked of us in the Hearth Law.

What would your policy be on residents causing the sort of disruption we would expel Tallers for?
Blood is thicker than Water, but if a citizen is misbehaving then I feel it is only right a Fine be levied so that some good can come to the town out of their foolishness. In extreme cases, however, sometimes Banishment for periods of time could be viable as in the case of some of the folks we are ashamed to acknowledge as kin.

Would you have a written policy on such...either for the silliness we saw earlier, or more serious things as we have had to deal with in the past month...or that the Council has, I should say?
I would hate to see what happened recently occur again. The time it took was frustrating for the lot of us, and I would do what can be done to avoid such again. Written policy for that sort of behavior I feel would be too constricting on the investigation of such things.
