I have just got my sons computer linked up to my router and as we both play here I had hoped we could adventure together on occasion, in fact under sufferance :). But when I log on he is timed out on his computer upstairs.

Is this a security thing to stop people transferring items, or is there a way to facilitate it.

We use Gamespy to access Amia.

Many thanks
Biro

It crashes the server, you have to set up different client ports in your nwn.ini or nwnplayer.ini, dunno now.

Okay I have tried that but now I get the message "your CD key is in already in use on this server"

Any thoughts?

You do still need two separate CDkeys, yes.

right bare with me and try not to be condescending :)

I installed them from separate installation discs, the DVD that came with the NWN2 box and the other my original set of CD's.

I kind of assumed they would get diff CDKeys because of that.

So with this in mind, how do I set up different CDKeys for each computer?

Many thanks
Biro

You will need a new set of CDkeys. On the paper that will list three of them for NWN and the expansions. You need another paper like that. Was there one in the NWN2 box?

I wont go into the details of exploiting other ways. And no one else here should either or the posts will be deleted.

You may be able to see on the Bioware forums or you can PM me if you still need help.

Both should have their own set of three keys (NWN, SoU and HotU). I think you have to assure that each of the three CD keys are different as well, meaning neither computer can share the Shadows of Undrentide Key (for instance) and have a unique NWN and Hordes of the Underdark Key.

So computer 1 would have:

Key 1: AAAA-AAAAA-AAAAA-AAAA
Key 2: BBBB-BBBBB-BBBBBB-BBBB
Key 3: CCCC-CCCC-CCCC-CCCC

While computer 2 would need to have:

Key 1: DDDD-DDDD-DDDDD-DDDD
Key 2: EEEE-EEEE-EEEEE-EEEE
Key 3: FFFF-FFFF-FFFF-FFFF

Hope that helps!

Okay I have finally fixed the other comp and followed the instructions, we both seem to able to play together, thanks for all the help btw.
the final problem is neither of us can access our existing chars from the other comp which is odd as they show on the list. This is fine for me as I use this comp on the rare occasion I get to play, but my son will be using the other comp.

Is it possible to get his original chars moved to the new CD key he has for "Treacle Head"?, which i assume is the problem now.

Many thanks all

Biro

Ummm....did anyone else note that he said NWN2? Can he even play on a NWN server with a NWN2 install?

Well, considering he explicitly says he is accessing Amia.... I would be very surprised if it is NWN2.

*sighs* the NWN2 Good/Evil box sets came with a DVD containing the three main nwn mods, hence I did say NWN2 box.

But the point is that existing characters won't play at present on Amia.

it's because of the new CDKeys in use. what you (both most likely) need to do is make a brand new character on your account, and ask a DM to authorize the CDKey to your account in-game. it's due to a security measurement we have here.
