A million years ago, I downloaded a .wav file from NWVault that overrode the stupid annoying pixie twinkle sound effect. It works beautifully; all the pixies I see are blissfully quiet and non-annoying (until they speak, haha).

Recently, for the first time ever, I began playing a character with a pseudodragon familiar. I understand that the sound it makes when fighting is supposed to be a sort of lizardy hiss, but what it actually sounds like to me is a sharp blast of static, and it actually hurts my ears when I have my game volume set even to a sensible level. And it makes that sound All. The. Freaking. Time.

Does anyone know how I could override that specific sound effect? I suspect it might be as simple as finding out the name of the .wav file that NWN calls to play that sound, and then putting a blank .wav file with the same name into my override folder (that seems to be how the pixie override worked). Is this the case? And if so, how do I find the name of the pseudodragon voice file?

Maybe there's already a corrupt file in your override that is causing that noise? The easiest way to find out anything about NWN's internal files is with the NWN Explorer.

Wow, that's both awesome and helpful. Locating and overriding those .wav files seems to have worked perfectly... my pseudodragon familiar now has a quiet, understated awesomeness. :) Thanks Jyssev!

You could throw this in your override folder, if you want to hear it, just not so much.

I noticed thats from the NwN TWO Vault, but I take it that presumably you (and now Lizzie) have used it without any probs, seemingly.

I'm not much of one for fiddling around with the Toolset, but I will give that a try....might make things a bit easier, and more appealing to tinker with.
