There's been a lot of instances in games where I would of loved to play a game of cards. Blackjack, poker, rummy, hearts, spades, whatever. The issues have typically been that I can't think of a way to do it in-game without there being a lot of hassle. So I'm wondering...
Does anyone have a fairly good external game / system / browser based / etc that could be used for this sort of thing? Granted it would make it difficult to see whats going on in the game if someone is not actually in the external game, or RP difficult since you're minimizing / maximizing back and forth.
But if anyone has a better solution I'm willing to listen. I did have a though of making 52 individual "Cards" with paper and keeping them in a bag, having their name as "Card" as their description as to what card they are. This would allow me to pick randomly and hand off to the other characters as if you're pulling from a shuffled deck.

The hin have a good, fun game that's played semi-regularly. I believe Johanna started it? Maybe the rules for it could be found in Bendir Dale.

Is it cards, or a dice game?
Dice are nice, but it's a bit trite after a while.

It's...ah...a bit of both, sort of. I don't want to give too much away as it's a blast to learn IC.

Did someone say Burt Bacharach? No? Oh, I'll just close the door on my way out, then.

Won't MSN messenger kick you to almost any card game you want with just a few clicks? I think you can set up private rooms for those games, too. Just make sure that the person you want to play with is on your MSN and I think you could get into a card game no problem.

The only card games I can find on MSN messenger are Solitare and UNO. I guess I'm not doing it right...
Also I could totally see a game of Wizard's Chess being set up in the Monolith. Hahaha. I've seen a server where it's scripted to play out like normal chess, but with NPC pieces.

I can see the roof of the Monolith used as a giant chess board.

My dwarven defender can be a rook! And some noble can call out moves like: "Knight to bishop 3!" Mind you I've been playing chess since I was a kid and still don't know how those commands work.

The tiles are labeled A-H, 1-8 on each side of the board. So Bishop 3, B3, would be moving your Knight to that tile.
But on the subject at hand... Anyone have any suggestions what could be done in-game, so that someone walking around in Amia might be able toh appen by the game? >.>

This is where you move your rook to the column where the bishop on your king's side begins in, to the 4th square/row away from your edge of the board.

There is no right or wrong in the Wizard's Game, for the rules are as mutable as the reality in which the wizard resides in... and molds, at his command.

There's actually something quite close to blackjack on Amia. It's called Dirty-One-Eye. It can be played in Golden Phoenix Casino.

I think it's more like:
Red Wizard puts his opponent in Check.
Opponent warps the dimensions of the board to put the Red Wizard in Check.

I know! Let's invent TCG in Amia! That would be freakin' awesome. And instead of giving heaps of money on our gear for PvP/M, we could spent money on rare, awesome cards.

I can see it now.
Player 1: Did you just summon a whole bunch of monsters in one turn? Isn't that against the rules?
Player 2: Screw the rules, I have gold!

Add a d14 to the die menu and use it as a blackjack variation.
1-10 Obvious Values. 11 Jack 12 Queen 13 King 14 Ace (Apply Ace Rules for Blackjack)

heh, youd only need 13. but. i would be all about a tcg in amia made by amians for amians. it could be a dc item spawner that pukes out one kind of card. each card could be named for something IG in amia or faerun! would be amazing. someone would need to devote some heavy dcs to make a lot of cards though, unless everyone went ahead and donated... also the issue is that anyone could "forge" a card unless there was a player kept database by the original person / group i think.
edit: idea. make one item a deck. have the deck have two unlimited powers a day one to place cards in the deck like the BoT one to spit out one random card (or several of these butons to puke out different intervals like 5 for a starting hand to cut down time). the opponent would be able to notice cheating because the combat log would say "player A uses item special power: draws three cards" etc.
the cards could have one unlimited use perday power they could place like the placeables do now, one click to place one to remove. the battlefield could be comprised of VFX cards like enchantments in MTG and statues of monsters as creatures or something along those lines.
the descriptions of the placeables could have the cards rules and flavor text written on it
i would keep it all as simple as possibe

I don't think something like this should have a DC cost if it is made. Mostly because the idea is to get people rping together, and that's also an aim of the server.
In saying this though. Go to the Golden Phoenix, they have Blackjack there.

dc cost for item spawners i would think, the dms either would have to make this an existsing game which i would not care as much about, or the players would have to do this and spend dcs and make it better

I think he meant a DC cost for a simple deck of cards, not some magical rip off of Yugioh. >.>
The dice rolling for cards seems tempting, and I will check out the Phoenix for their Blackjack (If it's not simply Dirty One Eye).

well dunno what's dirty-one-eye on other games, but on Amia it works similar to blackjack. you cast dices and try to get as close as possible to 16 and not going over it. if you roll 1 you are auto-loser.
and you need at least 2 PCs to play the game. (you just lost it)
And how about we inventing that Amian TCG made by Amians for Amians? Should we make a poll to see what is the interest of other players and to build a team who'll develop it? This could also be done IC (the development part).
