Bleh.. one of the human masked helmets/hoods show as a pig tailed tiefling head to me.

Yes I tried updating to this pack, but problem persists. Anyone got any ideas?

First of all - How did the pig tail end up on a 'HEAD' ?

Secondly - You made sure there's not 2x head pack folders, or to be specific "A folder within a folder"?

Edit - A haircut! Who would've known!

I didn't mess up adding them to the override folder.. Also placing stuff inside a folder in the override folder does NOT work. It is why some of the texture replacers uses folders to store the files not in use, rather than extracting a few at a time.

My Override is over 2 GB, so by now I ought to know how to add in >_> I just want to know the filename of the Bendine helmet thing, so I can ask someone that has a working one for their file, rather than replacing my entire override.

The easiest solution is to just dump all your overrides, then reinstall them. Well...easiest, if you still have the download(s) saved on your computer.

Reason being, if these fucked up heads everyone is seeing were just plain removed in the later update, they won't be overwritten when you install the update.

He did indeed. But it wasn't a very good reason given the issues players are having, the mass use of the heads pack in the module by designers, and the fact that there is a fair bit of silly crap in the HAK at the moment that got added over something that is very widely used.

It doesn't really justify the "I don't want to make the HAK bigger" excuse, nor the "I want to make it optional" one either. It's not optional, its pretty much required, and it's adding much more then some of the more useless items in the HAK currently.

You shouldn't have that option. Seriously, I'm the last person who's ever going to tell you how you can or can't RP, but my having to break character every ten minutes to explain to people that my character is a regular human and not a scary demon is incredibly annoying, and it makes me want to log out and do something else. Amia in general should not pursue policies that make players want to log out and do something else.

Option is there regardless. Could tell the next person to tell you about it that they are high on pipeweed. Perhaps you can turn it into a fun IC interaction. *shrug* If not, simply request a different head then for I am not going to cut into my RP time for broken head override packs  I value my time just as much as you and these packs are optional.

No seriously. It's entirely mechanical that there's a Missing head, There's nothing to RP.

The last few posts in this thread are exactly the reason the head pack shouldn't be optional. The Dev Team has decided that players should have the ability to choose to look a certain way, and several players have taken advantage of that choice. You shouldn't have the right to override either of those decisions.

Precisely why I am for their removal all together! I, nor anyone else, should be forced to download anything more to play on Amia. If the heads were supposed to be there, the hak would have included them. As it stands they aren't and how it looks, they won't be. It is unfair demand folks DL the same unnecessary content as someone else "just because" you weren't happy with stock NWN heads.

Edit for grammar.

You cannot undo it..

Ps - That means four Kobold heads also vanish.
Edit 2 - No More Halfling genotype kobolds. Only Kobos with halfling heads.

Dynamic Kobos are part of the required hak files, not the optional head pack, Svensk.

 My eye candy, though awesome, isn't a nessecity to Amia. I had an easy time with a bland Kobo model RPing what I looked like via emotes and a description in my Bio. Point is that Heads, hands, insane 'extra' colors and such are things that are optional and until they become mandatory via induction to the HAK, I'm not actually required to DL them to play on Amia and should not be expected to. If they were truly important, when the hak came out, don't you think they would have been in there?

Up until recently, we did not even have required Haks and I for one would be just as fine returning to it being that way. I'd miss it for a short time, but meh. It is not important nor vital to my character. Same goes for silly heads to anyone else. Does not having that certain -extra head- detract from a character?

In any case, the fact of the present reality is that we have Mandatory DLs and Optional DLs. So sorry, but that's just how things are so deal dude.

I am. I have yet to tell you not to DL it for personal use, nor would I have the right to. I don't wish to DL the optional stuff so I am simply stating that it is my decision to RP out the hideousness appearing on my screen and please respect that.

No, you're not respecting my decision. You're ignoring it. Your IC reaction to other characters' appearance should be determined absolutely and solely by what those characters are supposed to look like IC. IC, your character is simply not seeing headless people, or people with cartoon heads. On an RP server, you have an obligation to respond to other characters in a way that's appropriate to what you know that your character can see around him, even if that's different from what you can see on your screen. Reacting IC to something that you know OOC is not actually there, is precisely the same mistake as reacting IC to the names and tags floating above people's heads, or to the combat log displays of characters' stats.

<3 You gave me an awesome idea.

First doublechecked the hak being up to date by downloading and installing the latest one.

Then entered override folder and deleted all files named xxx_headxxx.plt or xxx_headxxx.mdl

installed latest head pack.

Tadaah! Worky!

Not ignoring it at all. Just rolling with it and it is totally within your realm if you meet one of my toons to take it or leave it. That is your call after all. *shrug*

You really want to structure your RP so as to discourage people from RPing with you, for OOC reasons?

I RP just fine for me thanks. If you don't like me OOC? That is all on you and not my problem. There is nothing OOC though about a character deciding someone is ugly or not.

Cry me a river though if you can't drop an emote or write in your bio what your toon's face looks like. That is not on me.

Do you want one of my toons to giggle with your toon all about the awesome that hair your toon spent hours on that happens to not be on screen or in the Bio of the character? I can do that I suppose, if I knew it was there. All I can say is how I intend to react and RP to what is perceived from point of character as something hideous as I have no other cues (outside of visual) to go on.

Well, now this is a whole other discussion. :) It sounded as though you were refusing to acknowledge the mismatches created by the glitchy headpack at all, and were insisting on RPing the heads as they appeared on screen, even despite OOC knowledge that some of the heads are glitchy. If you're willing to accept a /tell saying "my head doesn't look like a scary cartoon monster, it actually looks like a regular human girl," then we have no problem at all. My objection is to the people who, after having received that /tell, continued to insist that my character had a scary cartoon monster head, and furthermore, to blame me for their inability to see the human girl head that is actually the correct one. I've encountered a handful of these people, and they really kind of infuriated me, and I thought you were speaking as one of them. If not, then I apologize. And if my non-demon-headed character happens to encounter a character that I know to be played by you, then you can be expecting that /tell. :)

And as an aside... I like you OOC just fine. :)

:D All good. I may have fumbled that one on my own if I was not clear enough when I originally stated my intent.

May need to consider adding to my signature: Internet adds 10-20pts of abrasiveness to my text.

Complete removal of the pack isn't possible at this juncture. It would require completely redoing over 50% of the NPC's on Amia, and nevermind the amount of PC's it would require redoing.

However, adding to the HAK pak and avoiding all this hoopla is an option.

Yes, but you'd be able to see them, and you'd be able to get it changed by a DM, which is what you need to do for 70% of the heads anyway.
