After being turned away from Wharftown. The darkly armored man makes his way to every coast town untill he finds a willing captian to take his precious cargo to the mainland, and make their way to Zhentil Keep. He offers up to Fifty Thousand gold pieces for the transportation of the baby, also providing clean cloths, and baby food.

To any who accept this task, he warns that if any harm comes to the baby, then there will be no mercy for failure. If they are to succed, then only rewards can be reaped from this endeavor.

Finally, the man arrives in the cold reaches of Forstakkr. He propositions the captain here with the same offer to sail down the coast.

No captain seems to be willing to divert that far from their route on the word of a stranger in black armor shoving a baby n their face.... and especially not to go to Zhentil Keep, halfway across Faerun.

They also explain that there is no easy sea route to the Moonsea area in the first place.

Rather frustrated, the baby burdened man leaves the cold and returns to the nearest inn, feeding the infant and devising some other means to transport this now more complicated cargo.

With the cries of the newborn baby growing fainter, the darkly armored man returns to the Salandrian Maternity ward. He allows the clerics to tend to the babes needs while the man watched the nurses, and any visitor to the temple closely. If they were to ask, the man would say that this is his newborn child and that the mother was killed in the birth of the child.

A woman, who has since left, had earlier been carried unconscious to the maternity ward of the Salandrans. Her dress was blood soaked and had been cut open at the midriff. As soon as she had received enough care to awake she had begun screaming at the man who carried her in that her baby had been taken from her and she needed to return to Kohl to seek help. Where upon the man helped her to the ship leading to Kohl.

While neither of them had spoken directly to any of the salandrans, one or two -might-?? have overheard their quick words.

Elrien is many things, but stupid is not one of them. Hearing and seeing, she grows worried and sends word to Persephone and the Temple Mother that something seems amiss. Many women do die in childbirth, but this is awfully coincidental.

The man stays on the temple grounds still, taking the baby whenever it has recieved it's nourishment. Always wrapping it in soft white cloth provided by the clerics. They always seem to dissappear while walking the grounds, staying in secluded locations untill the baby rouses and cries for more attention. On lookers would see that the man cradles the babay in his arms, barely lifting it from his chest.

Before they could depart however, a winged man approached the pair, making small talk while they made their way to the boat. Before they left, the man tried to steal the baby from the armored mans hands, but failed, and then proceeded to talk again, and in the end killing the woman, and the baby before the guardians, and the boat captains eyes. The armored man, still stands, and carries the body of the woman through a portal, the babies corpse being snatched and plopped in the water by the fleeing, armored winged man.

There's a very pissed off silverkin who would in no way have not chased that man to the ends of the earth if necessary to get the baby back.

Just saying.

Brief:

The night before, Lord Robert of Caraigh informed First Counselor Madrik Street of the gruesome kidnapping. Madrik reassured the Baron that he would be sure the Triadic Knights succeed in the child's return.

The next day, a raft arrived to the Salandran Temple from Kampo's Storehouse. Next to the boat, an armored man and woman wearing the colors and attire of Bane stood about with bags at their feet and a baby in their arms.

Madrik initiated chatter, appearing to be non-threatening as he analyzes the situation. After vague and uncertain as well as the typical angry responses from the Banites, Madrik is almost certain the child before him is the stolen baby.

Two are about to board the raft. Madrik makes a decision. He cannot just let them disappear. He attempts to suddenly snatch the child from the man's arms, but is too slow.

Words are exchanged but still the Banites refuse to give back what they took. The armored man hands the baby to Octavia and engages Madrik. Among the fighting, an implosion spell crushes the woman's head. The unfortunate collateral: the innocent infant.

Before the armored Banite can react, the baby's corpse is swooped up into Madrik's arms, whom simply continues to roll into the bay.

--

Later, a winged man in armor sprints through Kohlingen with something bundled against his chest. Within the Temple of the Triad's Light, a Resurrection is completed but with absolute care and fragility.

The boy is then returned to his mother.

//  sorry, only posting in this as a lore monkey: Commoners are lucky if a raise scroll works... let alone resurrection. Even if birthed of adventurers, an infant has 0 class levels (though likely 1 racial hit die) and hence is no better than the 'standard' commoner. Definitely something for the DMs to handle as it may actually require a miracle spell to get that baby breathing and reconnected with its own soul.

//Elrien simply wouldn't have allowed him to take off with a baby , and had she been alerted a celestial was anywhere near obvious Banites, they'd've been sent packing in two seperate directions, unless one of the parties was injured.

That being said, it's already been RPd out, and it's kind of irritating to me that three or four players chose to ignore the fact that the Salandran Temple is NEUTRAL GROUND ALWAYS, as has been posted, announced, and reiterated by at LEAST:
Torzeng
Metalien
Tormak
and Galenson.
Sorry if I missed anyone

and that within about fifteen feet of either the boats or the Kohl ferry is both a Templar and Sister Hannah.

I understand if you all wanna have epic RP. Right now, I'd settle for not-blah RP. Buy could we at least pretend the rules apply to everyone? You know, like not metagaming the guards?

And so the armored man returns, the symbol of Bane prominent on tha back of his cloak. It would seem he seeks the cleric Persephone, telling the weary guards that he would like a explanation on why they allowed his child to be killed. He comes and goes periodically, sometimes waiting near the dock only to depart once more.

// That's the DM's call.

Here's where I can agree with Tormak, based on my understanding of how things went down:

With the Baby so close, Madrik knew that Implosion is a destructive area-affecting vortex would likely have also killed the child as well, yet he chose to use a dangerous attack spell.

Addendum: Even a fall widget being in place, it is not the end of Madrik's life as a character unless he chooses that. It DOES mean however he has to seek atonement in a fashion that'd be appropriate both to his church, his god, and whatever would befit in the eyes of the DMs. Being as a tragic error in judgement, although it'd still not be an easy Atonement to be sure.

I've got so much going on in my life, I'm not going to be bothered with dramatized bickering about some event.

In story, it happened very quickly and the implosion was not percise and was a last-ditch effort to stop the Banites since Mad couldn't take them both on as unpreparred as he was. Mad is a very imperfect human being trying to do the right thing and shit happens.

Now, that doesn't settle well with like, any of you. So do what you want, sorry for the mistake, and calm the hell down.

Seriously all of this is not worth playing the game for. Not even for the story.

Addendum: I'm not gonna quit playing for a Fallen widget. Don't exactly agree with it, but it's cool I'll play that out; I really don't mind. I'm extremely easy going and will go with anyone's flow.

If I stop playing it's because everyone's bitching about every little thing takes away the fun and I'm not going to be bothered with it.

So please stop arguing and get back to your lives. For those of you who don't have one, try a different thread to destroy.

Madrik is a Paladin.

Collateral damage is not acceptable.

He implosioned an innocent.

Please see a DM to receive your fall widget.

The issue is resolved and there is your RP ruling.

n.b.: Frederick, they are quite right. The Salandrans are neutral but not stupid, and you would, in any other siutation, have been detained. but it seems other things were fated to happen.

If you have an argument, you bring it to me, otherwise I expect you to keep RPing.

She also knows from experience that Madrik is, at the very least, a paladin. They would have been pulled apart the moment she saw them, and none of this would have happened. This isn't to say people shouldn't RP without PC presence, just have some common sense.

Heading to the Temple of Helm in Forrstakkr, Tuomas and Nicha quietly travel there having heard of Sir Azeriel's loss.

Waiting patiently for a time to be able to pray to the Idol respectfully and quietly, Tuomas quietly spoke a prayer in Celestial to the Idol after laying a Kitten Plush before it:

"Vigilant one, I beseech of you to watch the child of Sir Azeriel whom has crossed well too soon to th Fugue. I know not the circumstances by which the child came unto the fugue, only that their death was too soon. I beseech unto you vigilant one, lend your eye to this child's keeping until such time as his parents, or those they descended from may properly collect their soul into proper keeping." he said.

As he spoke the words of the Celestial tongue, Nicha remained quiet, tears rolling down her cheeks

Pann is seen frequently all over the island. Each time she is carrying the body of her young son, cooing and caressing it as if it were alive. should any approach her she does not allow them to see it but only introduces them to her son Madrik Azeriel El'johnson.

Should any get close enough to smell the onset of decay or actually see the babies dead body, she either threatens them with death or simply disappears into the shadows.

Nevaeh had heard too late that the child had been taken by the Church of Bane. Perhaps she was too busy and was not in the position to keep up with the goings-on concerning the Knights in Kohlingen with so many troubles in her own city.

When she did find out, an early moon rested above the second story window her office, the street lamps about Cordor's south district being lit by passing on-duty guardsmen, and the door bells of local businesses ringing the last time for the day as the owners locked up to go home.

Nevaeh was on her was on her way out after she inked her signature on an assignment for her division, and similarly to the other working men and women of Cordor, she locked up and returned to her own business. Tonight was her time to pray and meditate on, of all things, life and life force. Under normal circumstances, she would have merely relied on a portal to get to the secluded shrine, but the security scare in Cordor made it an impossibility.

She took the ship ride up the coast to Kohlingen, hoping to transfer to the Shrine of Salandra as she usually did on her trips of the Fortress City. On the docks, she likely hears of the loss being suffered by the Second Knight and his wife, and she travels into the city proper to find him to give her condolences...

*a single candle is lit at the temple of the triads and placed before the shrine of Torm... some could even hear a soft song in elven carry through the temple*

The grief that splits a parent’s soul
Is of all loss the most forlorn,
An anguish far too deep for tears
to ease the death of my firstborn.

To lay a babe in earth’s embrace
No mother should be made to do,
Nor father yet; to Kelemvor’s wings
We should have passed long before you.

My womb, my arms, my heart; all grieve
For each in turn therein held you,
And emptiness they now contain.
With every morn, I mourn anew.

With this Azeriel happens by and tries to talk to her. She will not listen to his words. "Claire cared for him. They cast resurrection on him, it is just slow to take. MY BABY JUST NEEDS HIS MOTHERS LOVE!!"

He attempts to grab her , but she slips away. He calls a summons to help subdue her, to bring her home for proper care. She -kills- the summons ruthlessly, then turns her attacks towards him. In frustration, anger and incomprehensible madness she slips into the shadows and wanders away again.

Somewhere deep in the forest two women sit. A new mother holds her dead newborn's body to her chest, listening to the other speak of having to let go. It is a peaceful place that has once before witnessed such sorrow like this and a calm moment that pushes a truth towards the new mother that she will one day have to face. It is a harsh truth, that will leave a hole in her heart and soul for the rest of her life. It is a hole that the other woman knows already too much about.

A hooded man makes his way through the cold, to his home. Once inside, he lowers his hood, and turns his crimson eyes to the stairs of his house. His child is safe, this he knows, yet his heart is heavy with news from Kohlingen. He pens two notes at his desk before he goes upstairs to kiss his daughter, then slips out into the night, pulling his hood back down, and slipping into the shadows.

Through many tears she listens. For what seems an eternity she hugs her baby and cries. Her heart feels torn and emptied, her mind whirls and spins, her very reality becomes suspect. She leans forward and slams her head back against the wall at her back, blood spraying, consciousness nearly fading.
Gods ... why have you let such a thing happen? She gets up along with the woman who has so lovingly spent the last day with her, never leaving her side, never condemning her actions, never passing judgments one way or the other. They step into a portal and disappear.

Once in Kohl they make their way to the temple where they find Azeriel praying at the feet of Torm. The two come together in embrace and tears. They exchange few words, for few are needed, then Pann leads all present to Kohl south, to a spot she wishes her babe to rest, a place where she can come often. A place where she can come alone, to shed her tears and continue to tell her tales to her son.

After a small ceremony where she continues to pass in and out of the shadows in her hesitance to stay .. and her desire to run. She holds her baby close for one last time, kissing it longingly, lovingly. She then from her knees leans forward and places the little body in the hole that had been prepared. She pulls out a dagger and thrusts it through her hand, then mixing the blood with the earth she places a small layer of the mix above her son. "May we be together forever my beautiful baby boy" through eyes blinded from tears she watches as the hole is filled in.

Once it is finished she stands full upright and with one fluid motion pulls the dagger from her hand and thrusts it in a non-lethal blow into her side. She passes out from the blow collapsing onto the top of the fresh grave, which she had told all present she wished to remain forever unmarked.

Az heals her wounds, picks her up and carries her home.
