after many weeks of looking for a consistent group of players to party. adventure, and rp with, i still haven't found what i'm looking for. everybody seems to flake out on the idea/deal and end up playing alternates ALL the freaking time.
so here we go: Looking for another player that is online virtually every waking hour of his/her day? Interested in being in a tight-knit group that always parties together? Want to play siblings? BFF's? Master and Servants? Completely new faction? Look no farther... I'm here! Want to pick the race? the relationship type? want to be my boss? Well be my guest! Serious inquiries PM please... the rest of you don't post a bunch of off topic junk here please.

There are quite a few factions on Amia that would probably be eager for you to create a PC that has unique ties to members of the faction or the faction itself, if that's what you are looking for. I'm just suggesting that in case no individuals step forward to distinguish themselves. If you want to go to someone rather than advertising, I would "shop around" with the factions to see which one you'd enjoy playing in.
And yes, I am aware of my hypocrisy here - I don't really like factions, personally (I feel there are too many of them and they are not organized well enough) - but I cannot ignore the fact that they do drive a lot of RP around the server.

the factions i've seen are VERY unorganized and people are playing in multiple factions with alts.... creating a conflict of interests and no OCC loyalty. this is one of the roots of my complaints and am looking for dedicated non-multi-faction players. this server might could use some Faction setup like NS4 does in PWaction. just an idea.

Fair assessment, man.
Why not entice them with something? Give them a hint of what they can expect in taking on this fun roleplay with you. Elaborate a little on what you mean by all of those options. I know you're kind of leaving it up to them to have almost full creative license with what you guys play and you'll fall right in, but you might catch the interest of some players if you toss out your own ideas (with the willingness to creatively amend to accommodate new acquaintances).
For example:
"I play a character who is a gypsy-like character. I would love to be in a band of gypsies, and I have some interest in maybe one day establishing a full blown gypsy camp in the Cordor Fairgrounds (where there suggestively is one!) To pull this off, though, I need all the interesting faces: I need the fortune teller, young and sexy, old and cronish, or fat and decadent; I need the dog trainer who secretly wishes for wolves instead; I need the pickpocket, the gimp, and the knife-thrower; I need the illustrated man, the scarecrow, and the once-beautiful-now-horribly-scarred woman; I need the midget who counts our coins and decides our budget, and the barker who bards for us; I need the singer and the songwriter and the soupmaker and any assortment of sinners. I am the blind old man who puts his hand in a music box with a deadly asp and strokes it until it plays wonderful music..."

Yossarin used gypsies because he'd totally play with you if you picked gypsies. He loves gypsies.

I wonder if Yossarin is a gypsy himself, travelling around and DMing around NWN in different places?

Aren't you perpetuating the "alt-itis" issue by offering to create a new character for whatever faction asks you to and worse OOCly "whoring yourself out" to the highest bidder when it should all be done in RP?

Uh, if everyone involved is having fun, who the hell cares?
Better have a case of alt-itis and a good time than sit around on one main grinding or banging your head into the desk. *Shrugs*

it is hard to have a main character when i make toons for a group then the group flakes out. now if you don't have something to contribute to forming a new group that is tight knit, don't flame this post otherwise people will see it has dozens of replies and won't bother reading it.

Then don't make a character for a group. Make a character. If you truly have as much time to invest as you say, then creaitng one character with a rich backstory investing time and effort in the community will be far better for you, the DMs, and everyone in the server than constantly asking OOC if any factions want to 'recruit' you, when this should al be done IC and not with "I will make a character for your faction." Quote: it is hard to have a main character when i make toons for a group then the group flakes out. now if you don't have something to contribute to forming a new group that is tight knit, don't flame this post otherwise people will see it has dozens of replies and won't bother reading it. There are a billion groups already, why do you encourage what you say you despise by asking people to make more new characters for anotherr fad faction that will lose steam? Put those resources towards a dedicated group in game and improve the server in the process.

who are these "dedicated groups" you speak of? when i first started here and inquired i got messages about groups i could join... and casually monitoring the groups i didn't join (remember i joined bucktooth) makes me think there are none that are really dedicated. i don't even NEED a new faction, i just was looking for people to play with on a regular basis so we know each other and work well with and off each other. it doesn't have to be a group with a faction... just a group of people playing together.

Yes, there are too many factions and too many players have too many alts. I used to have several alts myself, but now I mostly play one character. Making a new faction will only make things worse, so please don't make a new faction.
Finding just -one- other player who will often be on with the same character is very hard to find. A character dedicated to the cause is worth a thousand times their weight in gold.
Edit: I would now consider myself and my main character dedicated. I look for dedicated players myself, but I won't ask you to 'join my group' because it's you who needs to decide what kind of character you want to play first.

There are regulars in every timezone. Just play around and see who'se aorund. You can pick them out pretty easily after about a weekish. Since you play all the time you should have your pick of the litter as far as "people who play lots" go.
I think if I'm going to answer you anymore you need to define what a "Dedicated group is", because players who play as often as you do often have very skewed ideas on what "dedicated" means.
See: "I play every day" vs "If you leave before hitting 85, you're /gkicked."

I made Gorthod, didn't fit in any groups and so he kind of made his own in the same vein. It's very unorganized but that's the whole point of said group, seeing as it's filled with people suffering from ADD.
But yeah, just find a group of people you can party with consecutively and see where it goes from there. My character has a wide range of 'chums' from varying backgrounds, such as Leon the guard, Robnar the barbarian and Eil'avain the dirty palemaster! It all builds character, and stuff, I think... probably.
(This probably doesn't help at all, I think I agree with Tormak.)

I know this may be misconstrued, but I think that anyone can detect a -real- character IG pretty quickly.
Characters like Qirlan, Rras, Yossarin, etc etc are clearly well thought out, complex, and above all, believable. In my experience, real characters (even if those characters are antagonistic and rude as hell) attract other characters like flies.
So, from my pov, if you're looking to find one or more people to RP deeply and consistently with, your best bet is to almost... show your goods on the street-corner, simply by playing a real character.
If you do this, I assure you that you will attract a myriad of people and will also find real and meaningful reasons to continue to RP with them for years to come. This is in agreement with Silent2001 and Tormak.

Gorthod's best friends with a dirty palemaster named Eil'avain?! I am sooo metagaming that information.......
(Sorry to spam your important thread again. I'll edit my opinion in: I agree with mostly everyone else. The point of your thread seems hypocritical and undefined to me. I find when I want to have a good time that if I focus more on defining what I mean by "good time" and working towards that, I will inevitably run into others of the same mindset. Rather than asking someone to define something for me, and will most likely peter out because it is not something enriched with my own passion.)

And be sure to make something thats more than a class and an area to stand in. Have a story, have some depth, and hell, have some new personality. Even if you can't play a personality other than youre own (I know I cant), every persons unique, and so are their characters. Oh... and RP while you hunt and when you do, come to Caraigh 'cause I love playing stalky forest ranger for newbie hunters! Pwncess knows...

Don't conform to everyones standards. A lot of people will think "pfft, thats poor RP" just because they have this view. Some may even comment on it out loud. It doesn't matter, what matters is that you enjoy the RP, and those whom you RP with enjoy it. You have to play a concept and a character YOU enjoy. That's most important of all.

I don't play alts. And I am virtually the greatest RPer on the server.
You probably wouldn't be able to keep up with my complex story engineering though - it's often missed by the simpletons 'round here.

Focus on finding what you want. If it doesn't exist and that lights a fire within you, use that fire's heat for productive means. Use it for what you wish for and then go forward to make it reality; that drive is important. I would suggest to keep in mind that not everyone has that same vim for life or ability to dedicate time during holiday season of the 12th month.
