Hi all, I am new- see other post. Having a bit of (hopefully newbie related and nothing serious) a problem logging in- can make a character and then enter through the mirror but both characters I have tried thus far cause nwn to crash when entering Cordor East. Future logins with that char then crash when attempting to login again- with the Cordor East login screen showing.
Not sure why- the Hak Chicken shows I have the right haks and so on. Is there something essential that I should do in the first room before entering the world more generally?
I am running Linux so not sure if that is the problem.
Anyway, if there is anything obvious I have not done then let me know.
Thanks (and sorry for being such a bother).

You have shiny water enabled? That crashes a lot. Running on ATI or nVidia?

Thanks- yes was just checking about and that was one of first things I saw to disable. Still crashes though.
EDIT: eek forgot the other bit- i am using an intel integrated chip for graphics 965 (is an old laptop so I can carry it around the house).

Turn all your graphics down to the minimum. Make sure nothing else is in your hak/overide folder besides what is required for Amia. Then try.

I run an intel integrated card and have no isusues w/ any area in the module. I'm on a desktop though, not a laptop
Did you try updating your drivers? You can go to intel's site and check.

thanks- have checked hak and override and I think the driver for the card works fine. Still no joy. Just did all the port forwarding stuff to router as well and that has reduced the ping considerably (at least think it has).
Will keep trying. Any other suggestions also welcome.

Try having a DM teleport you to other areas in the module and see if we can isolate a specific tileset or area causing problems.

I generally never crash while playing NWN on Ubuntu... Maybe you have some corrupt game files, try reinstalling maybe.

What does the Client CPU Affinity even do? I have been it cited in a few solutions to common problems.

NWN can't handle two cores, with CPU affinity you tell NWN which core to use.

NWN crashes for me when dragons are in the area. If the dragon is changed to something else, it won't crash. I have Windows XP, nVidia GT9600 card.
I tried to get in game several times the other day but could not because there was a dragon in the entry room, it finally let me in after many attempts.

Thanks for all your help. I installed everything on desktop and that works fine. I will reinstall to the laptop and I am sure will solve problem. For the moment though I am in game. Woohooo!
