The Church of Kelemvor The Church of KelemvorThe faction has been around now since June 2007. The Kelemvorites on Amia are composed of the clergy and faithful of Kelemvor and the Chapter of Saint Elizabeth of the Eternal Order. Subfactions such as the order of the Silent Shroud and the Eternal Candle have existed, but they are mostly inactive nowadays. This means the group has a large variety of styles, from peaceful priests who oversee burials, heal, teach and comfort the mourning, to the military branch, a Chapter of the Eternal Order. The roleplay within the Church is oriented to cater slightly towards low fantasy within the boundaries of the Forgotten Realms Setting. (For further explanation on what we mean look at the Q-A section.) The Sacred Order of Saint ElizabethThe chapter of the Eternal Order on amia bears the name The Sacred Order of Saint Elizabeth of Kelemvor, in honor of their chapters patron. They are more commonly known as just the Eternal Order. Unlike the chapters on the mainland, the Sacred Order of Saint Elizabeth is not only composed of paladins of kelemvor, but all faithful can join if they meet the standards they hold. Additionally they give the rank of Inquisitor to brethren and sisters in their ranks, who are invested with additional powers and who act as the warriors against heresy from outside as well as from within. The Order is divided into several Offices that are responsible for different duties. For example outsiders may approach the Office of Templar Affairs in matters related to recruitment, the the Office of Inquisition if someone is suspected of heresy or crimes against the will of the Judge of the Damned, the Office of the Chaplain in exceptionally difficult theological questions, if they wish to request legal counselling or if they wish to request judgement in an affair the local authorities are not prepared to handle. The Chapter Master is primarily concerned with diplomatic contacts and internal matters of the Order. The Most Solemn Order of the Silent ShroudThe Most Solemn Order of the Silent Shroud is an organization of gravediggers, embalmers, and other cemetary workers and crafters. Those of this order identify each other with a series of secret signs. Their task is to keep the church informed of undead sightings and gravesite desecrations. The Order of the Eternal CandleThe Nuns of the Blessed Church are a sisterhood who are devoted to documenting the teachings and history of the faith. They are the most peaceful of the branches of the kelemvorite Church. From singing at ceremonies to tending to plague victims, they represent a peaceful a monastic sisterhood of the faith. Q-AHow can I join the faction? The easiest way to do so is to get in contact with Silvarus, our faction leader or leave a post of interrest in this topic. If you want to meet the faction in game, the best spot for that is Nes'ek, just through the portal on top of the Keep in Wiltun on Amia Abroad. What alignment is the Eternal Order? "From what I've witnessed, they're generally rather good-aligned, somewhere between LG and LN. Burning heretics and persecuting percieved wrong-doers is not only non-evil, but probably good. They've perhaps done evil things, but that doesn't automatically make them evil. These things aren't simple or easy." - DNM IronAngel Over the history of the faction the alignment of its members and the faction in general has fluctuated somewhere on the Lawful end of the alignment system. Nowadays the focus is heading towards LG. Is there a private faction forum?Yes, we have a private faction forum for the Ecclesiastical Troika, the alliance between the three churches of Nes'ek: Lathander, Hoar and Kelemvor. The forum holds plenty of lore and internal documents that are made available only to members of the faction. "What do you mean with leaning towards low fantasy in a high fantasy setting?"There are players who enjoy to have an atmosphere and an environment that is appropriate for medieval history, or rather the level of technology of the era, as historical accuracy implies a bit too much. It is a place where the fairytales, myths and superstitions of the era just happen to be true, rather than false, but the society and environment is otherwise the same. For these kind of players the preferable roleplay environment is a world that would make sense even if the myths and magic were just superstition. The fantastical elements are the spice on the setting, but the main point is a non-modern level of technological development. A good example for this would be the Parcival Legend or Dante's Inferno. Players like this often consider museum pieces to be far more beautiful than any generic fantasy art's weapons or equipment, and have similar preferences in the aspects of their roleplaying environment. This is what we are aiming for in this faction.
For the majority of players the main focus of the role-playing environment and atmosphere are the fantastical elements and they do not mind the clichés of generic high fantasy or modern mind-sets. Forgotten Realms and thus Amia is a prime example of a high fantasy setting so this latter type is obviously the norm. When players from these two groups interact, there can be great confusion unless they realize each others preferences. The point is not to say one group is better than the other, but that things like this are good to remember when the aims of the other players confuse you. If you know who you are playing with, different aims in RP are not a problem as they can easily be taken into account, but if you expect all others to belong to the same group as you do, you might end up in unnecessary confusion or conflict. "What is with this crazy reputation you guys have?"The members of the EO prefer to do things the medieval way ,where modern values and ideologies seem out of place and civilization is not quite as advanced as it is today. Sometimes they hit spot on, sometimes they overdo it, but in both cases it has created quite a bit of conflict between people. Mostly the words of our misdeeds are vastly exaggerated.

No the flaming blade is the Order. The Kellies are the Odor.
"Whats that smell jeeves" "Nothing sir its just the eternal odor"
There are many reasons for this nickname the foremost of which is that they wear fullplate in the desert proving that white people are dumb, no matter the setting. Indeed Gagis is so white he's almost Angelic.
All this is of course tongue in cheek.

All this is of course tongue in cheek. If an Odor was eternal, surely people would get used to it, and then it wouldn't exactly smell anymore? Much like Air?

It's actually whta happens when a very interesting mortla has avery interesting life and a very interesting godhood and tries to enact some very interesting changes in how death works... but due to cosmological pressures and a wish to Be All That He Can Be, dons the Visage of Death and evermore views the world from behind the eyes of a mask, showing tht true judgement must be completely impartial and his face and emotions never be seen lest his stance as the Final Judge of the Damned be doomed.
Kelemvor is one of the more interesting deities and there's a huge story to why he's a demure and "neutral" in his handlings as he is.

I like Kelemvor as a deity, I do.
I have my own belief (based on the lore and seeing another Non-EO Kelemvorite) on how Kelemvor's Clergy would be portrayed.
The EO, I will give does make things interesting and gives the Necromancers something to worry about.

Agreed. Kelemvor is a cool god. I like Jergal slightly better though. Only because he's such a creep. Osiris is kind of meh. He's a washed up version of the Egyptian one who is indeed cool. Urogolan is awesome.

Just look at the goddesses of the post-Hellenistic world. Isis, Artemis, Demeter, Khore/Persephone, Athene, Hecate, Tyche, and later even Virgin Mary in the 7th century Constantinople. They're all blended together. Virgin, mother, fertility, guide etc. I wish there was even more diversity in the pantheons of the Realms. I've come to like rip-offs, because it lets us play with the rich symbolism of the original gods and experiment with "what if" mythologies. Of course, it would be better if the names and histories of the gods were adapted for the setting, but usually they are. The Mulhorandi pantheon is what it is for a reason: they're not rip-offs, they're the same guys. I like Mielikki and Lathander, because they're so close to Artemis and Apollo. Now, especially Mielikki is very dull if you just read Faiths & Pantheons, but when you connect that with all the paradoxical connotations of Artemis she becomes much more interesting. This is very off-topic, though. I guess Kelemvor reminds me of Zoroastrian mythology, if I had to pick one real-world parallel.

Okay so like, those gods are borrowed from real mythology, but the Muhlrondi gods are from a different plane entirely. One that is infact, earth. That's what is suggested anyway in their stuff. I did a wee research because I was interested in learning about Anhur when Calin was choosing his gods. Basically the Muhlrondi gods escaped with some of their people from a different plane via some inter-dimensional portal thingy. They lost a few gods on the way, which is why Anubis isn't furrying it up. The Muhlrondi people, and their gods, are literally Aliens to Toril. Where as the other gods are just Faerunian gods that DnD didn't have the creativity to give an original name.

Ohhh, I understand now. So, the muhlorandi gods are literally from Earth and the others are just piflered ideas.

Most gods are thematically or name-wise ripped off from mythology, yeah. (Rarely both; Oghma has very little to do with the Celtic counterpart. Mielikki and Tyche are rather close to the originals, and I mentioned Artemis simply because real-world Mielikki has a lot in common with Artemis.) Many gods like Oghma are interlopers to Faerûn, too, but we don't know where they came. The Mulhorandi pantheon did come from Earth or something similar, and are therefore "the same."

Giving OOC directions to things that any NPC in Wiltun could tell you about is probably so miniscule on the Meta-game scale its not even worth bothering over.

And let's not pretend old players purposefully get lost for hours when their new PCs run Speedy's.

No, it is considered "RP lite" because of a poor choice of words by the previous owners and slapped a title on the server for years on the sidebar. Not because of a common information giant glowing portal visible from sea illuminated by castle fires and glowing mages visible from anywhere within the fortress and people around, in game NPCs, clickable, that tell you where that portal goes.
