one more question regarding rogue/SD/asn: how should I distripute my ability scores, as I want to hit so I want dex, but also want to increase the dc(int) of death attack?

You should go with just enough int to get the skills you want because death attack is 99.9% useless on amia.

As it is now, yes. However, remember that there are some assassin changes in the future, which may make Death Attack something a bit more attractive.... or not.... kind of a gamble right now.

I was considering building a wood elf rgr/SD, dual-wielding most likely battle axes and ending with dev crit. at 30th level. The build I tested was a rgr 24 / SD 6. Any thoughts?

Go 23 ranger, There's nothing you gain by taking level 24 beside 5% more Resistance to Greater dispell and a slightly worse animal companion. Still. If i remember correctly, you sacrifice +5Blade thirst by going less than 25 ranger. http://nwn.wikia.com/wiki/RangerEdit : Bloody scary build btw. Would probably land at 50+AB Vs Favoured enemies, + Hips = Hallelujah. Tips - Pick a Pet that fits your RP, But also fits a Tanking-Role.

as he said take only 23 ranger levels, add one level of monk and use dual wielding kamas.

by the way, if a ranger of level 30 picks up his last favored enemy, is it a +1(like in PnP methinks?) or +7(like nwn wiki makes me understand?) if the epic ranger can't take favored enemies in epic levels, assume he just can.

+5 enchantement through blade thirst is gained at ranger level 21. Favoured enemy bonus in epic work like this: 20-24 = +5, 25-29= +6, level 30 ranger = +7, independent of how many favoured enemies you select through bonus feats.
Edit: So the only way to gain +7 bonus is to go pure ranger. With level 23 ranger you will stay at +5 bonus.

okay maybe I frased it wrong in PnP, you increase your favored enemy bonus to previous ones by +1, when you are able to take a new one, so a lvl 10 would have ie: +3 vs undead, +2 vs constructs and +1 vs rainbow colored beings is it like in pnp +3/+2/+1 or is it like +3/+3/+3?

It is the latter. All FEs are treated as equals, whether or not that makes them feel any better about it.

High AB, High Damage, And a pet that pulls a good portion of your weight.
Now i need to state a question regarding rangers myself.
Question Do rangers require Extend spell?

I'd go with no. Take craft wand and cash in on the mass camoflauge gap in the market!

I got a second thought about this. If you grab one SD level pre-Epic, you loose 1AB, but gain 1Epic feat. Rangers get an extra feat at level 20, to choose another Favoured enemy. - But if you delay that level 20 to epic levels, you can grab Prowess, or Epic.Wep.Focus or something. It's contradicting, of course - Since you'll regain the Ab you lost if you took, say prowess. But if you're low on feats, perhaps you're looking into taking Natural Armor or Epic Focus Hide?

A level of monk for that ranger/SD build is outta the question. First off, he's chaotic good. Second, it doesn't really fit RP-wise anyway. Thirdly, the whole dual kama thing is horridly overdone. That being said, thanks for the advice regardless I'm thinking a lvl of rogue for tumble and umd dump may just be the way to go in lieu of a monk lvl... and yes, I was already planning on going with both ESF: Hide and MS. Epic prowess and weapon focus are part of the equation as well.

If you are going strenght ranger, I'd drop SD alltogheter. Your Hide/MS won't be enough to beat spotters and higher level critters, and you loose out on the pet, feats and favoured enemies. Not to mention the massive waste of skill points into cross-class tumble required for the SD class.
And no Svensk, you don't need extend spell on a ranger. All your spells are turn or hours per level, and beyond level 15 they last a whole rest period.
Edit: And yes, if you go HS, you will earn rep points.

And yes because of the camoflage spell and silence scrolls I can max my hide, dex, str, con fairly easily. Still can hit 100 hide. Find a druid with mass camoflage add one with the land and your looking at 24 hide already accounted for. Throw in that silly mantle and you've got 39 accounted for. 50 skills 33 base 2 stealthy 3 skill focus 10 epic skill focus 6 dex mod = 104 Hide. or 108 with that ranger trackless step thingo.

Is Circle Kick still horribly broken or has the ingenious Amia Dev team figured out a method of showing up Bioware and making it a decent feat?

No, Dirty Fighting is broken. Circle kick just requires tactics to use effectively. If you don't know how to use it, just don't take it.

DoomKnight wrote: No, Dirty Fighting is broken. Circle kick just requires tactics to use effectively. If you don't know how to use it, just don't take it. No. You're wrong. Stop giving bad advice in the Build Topic. Circle Kick will: Attempt to attack enemies outside your melee range, flat footing you, stopping your entire attack routine until you click again. Dead. Actively switch your attack focus to a new enemy, forcing you to either roll with it and have 6 enemies at badly wounded instead of 4 dead ones, or lose full round sof attacks to switch your focus back. Dead. Will activate every round whether or not you like it or not, forcing you to deal with it CONSTANTLY. Does not work like Cleave, and works as mentioned above. Dirty Fighting isn't broken. It does exactly as stated with no hidden fees or clauses: You lsoe all extra attacks and do 1d4 more damage. It sucks, but it's not broken. Circle Kick is actively broken.

I have an epic monk with circle kick and have no issues with it. The main thing is you have to pay attention to what is happenning on your screen. If your attack is broke by it you can click on another target and rarely have it leave you flatfooted. That means if you have a monk with circle kick you shouldn't get up and get a cup of coffee while you are fighting.(something I do often with my dwarven defender). If you are paying attention it gives you another attack at your top attack bonus. So an unarmed monk using a haste potion, flurry of blows and circle kick can get eight attacks per round with three of those attacks at the top attack bonus.
I have heard a lot of people complain about the feat though. So it may just take a little bit of finesse on the players part to make it work for you.

Its a stupid feat.
It disobeys the primary rule of gaming.
Kill it until its dead.
Its like in RTS games you concentrate firepower on one target which reduces the incoming firepower from the opposing force. Circle kick breaks this routine and is therefore stupid.
If you take it on anything but an Assassin/Monk you've fudged it and even then I don't recommend using it on an Assassin/Monk.

Hey was wondering how my build might work at epic levels. It's gonna end something like this. Svirfneblin Monk16/Ftr8/SD6 (level 28, ecl + 2)
Base Stats: Str:12 Dex:18 Con:10 Int:12 Wis:16 Cha:4
He's level 10 right now. He's Dex/Wis Focused. Leftover will go into Str.
Feats:
Dodge, Mobility, Toughness, Weapon Finesse, Weapon focus and epic weapon focus unarmed, Imp critical unarmed, weapon and epic weapon specialization unarmed, blind fight, spring attack, power attack ( used sometimes for extra hurt ), Whirlwind attack, great dex 1, armor skin, EPIC DODGE FTW , 2 extra feats I didn't choose yet...
He's going to have 16 BAB by level 20. 6 attacks per round, 7 with flurry of blows, 8 hasted
And no I don't want to go duel Kama. I'm level 10 right now I find the gloves I have much better than the equivalent kamas. (gloves + 3, + 1d4 slashing, 1d4 piercing, 1d4 magical) Besides, aren't Kamas "medium" weapons for svirfs and can't be finesseable?.
I calculated and he should have around 70 AC fully buffed. ( with no need for UMD, only cat's grace potions and eagle's splendor) If dispelled, he'll only lose about 4 ac and 2 AB. He should have around 43-44 AB with + 5 gloves.
Damage should be in the likes of 2d6+6(str)+6(ews)+ whatever gloves I find but i'm guessing at epic levels it should add another , say, 10 average damage so he should do around 30 damage a hit.
So, for you veterans out there how should he manage at epic levels for PVM. I know it's not a PVP build at all...
BTW for the moment he's doing great, with 45 AC buffed at level 10.

It'll still net you 93 which is nothing to scoff at in PvM, but a designated spotter will pick you out in a second.

He can easily fit dev.crit in there -AND- Epic hide/MS.
Edit - Hell, He can even be a Kukri master with Dev.crit and not loose out on anything.

Hehe.
Wood elf is a broken Subrace. Seems to me that you can fit Both Epic Dodge, Dev.crit -and- ShadowDancing.
All you need is either 3x Great STR feats, or 3x Great DEX feats. You'll end @ odd number, but the gain of such super-feats should be worth it.

If you want to avoid the most skilled spotters, Yes it is. If you want to be able to hide from bosses, Yes it is.

Yes because I can spot you moving silently.
Thats your biggest facepalm moment yet svensk.
Move silently really is pointless if you know what your doing. Like its pointlessness is terrible. Even if someone hears you, you still get your flanking boni and boni from attacking from concealment.

Wood Elf.
Rogue / Fighter / Harper Scout. I'm pretty sure i can pick up Epic dodge and Dev.crit, Question is - Do i go for a Melee Dev.crit or try to grab like, Dev.Crit dart since he/she will be having decent Ranged AB due to high DEX, and Decent Damage from the dart since the mighty bonus isn't capped with his high STR?
Edit - Besides, Darts/Throwing axes, and Shruikens can be keened!
Edit 2 - If i wanted to go Bow Dev.crit, I'd go for Arcane Archer

A harper scout with negative stats to pick up great dexterity :d HILARIOUS.
Just saying.
Obviously you'll be playing with -2 con mod, -1 int mod, -1cha mod, -1 wisdom mod and no one will take your character seriously because he will be an idiot.
17 (19) str (13 points used) 20dex (16 points used) 6con (0 points used) 7int (1 point used) 8wis (0 points used) 8cha (0 points used)
4 great abilities to do it. 5 if you want even strength. 4 fighter bonus feats in epic, 1 harper scout, 4 standard. Epic Weapon Focii, Armor Skin, Overwhelming, Dev Crit.
But no way in hell I personally could play with those stats.

Oo... Given the new Mechanics with dev crit, it becomes cruel using a ranged weapon within sneak attack range...
So he'd be the idiot no one called an idiot for fear of being an idiot and getting a dart in their skull?

I actually managed with 5HS in Epic, And 2 Fighter Bonus Feats.
But yes, That character would be an idiot. Still - I feel that if i wanted a good laugh someday, I'd make it.

DustSpray101 wrote: Oo... Given the new Mechanics with dev crit, it becomes cruel using a ranged weapon within sneak attack range Well, Not that unfair. Y'see, using ranged weapons against prone targets invoke a -2 or -4 AB Penalty. Edited! wrote: Prone creatures are considered flat-footed and therefore lose their dexterity bonus to armor class.
Creatures attacking a prone individual with a melee weapon get a +4 to their attack roll. However, characters attacking a prone individual with a ranged weapon get a penalty of -4 to their attack roll.

Hurrmmm
I'm actually thinking that 16 Rogue 4 Fighter 10CoT would do it better on a woodelf.
15 Rogue, 5Cot pre-epic
1 Rogue 5Cot 4 fighter in epic.
1 Rogue bonus feat (epic dodge), 3 cot bonus feats (epic weapon spec, over, devastating), 3 fighter bonus feats(EWF, Weapon Spec, Armor skin), 4 standard feats (+4 str/dex)
5HS is alright but still not great. Epic dodge, overwhelming, devestating, epic weapon focus = 2 fighter, 2 normal +2 Ability ups (HS) +2 ability ups (normal)
Yours has 8 feats in epic, mine has 11. And +5 Saves. One Less AB probably since you would have taken the minimum Rogue levels (13) for epic dodge.
HS 1 is infact the correct way of doing it because its the only way of getting an even strength score (which you need for your Dev DC)
Maybe 21 Rogue 8 fighter 1HS with all the fighter levels in epic. Or 21 Rogue 4 fighter 5 HS which will do it for any +2 dex race that doesn't negate strength or have an ECL but forgoes epic weapon focus and everything else.

I'm thinking that, The more HS levels and the more Ability Ups we can take out of General Epic feats, The less we need to Totally downgrade his Ability scores.
Other than a slightly low AB, 43-44, It'll have Joyfull AC and nasty attacks, Plus sneaks.

Not really best case scenario is you free up 3 points to even out your int-score.

I'd say its' rather powerfull, Considering Epic dodge makes you last a hell-o-va long time versus opponents, and pretty much just wait for that Dev.crit to happen, All while you sneak their asses off... I dont think it suffers 'that' much by evening out the INT score, and docking off one point in STR or so.
