Quote: Yes this is intended, in the amia shifter changed all shapes that merged a base physical stat to now override those stats. On the whole, this is a good thing, though it did kill a couple of niche shifter builds. Basically wisdom is the only stat worth boosting, unless you're going for epic damage reduction feats. Yeah... this change pretty much killed another niche build. Would of been good if I managed to get it to a level where it would of been noticeable. Dwarf strength based kobold kommando assassin :C. Will see if its worth still playing since the RP potential is till where I want it.

A build making use of the most unused class. Paladin 15 / Champion of Torm 10 / Harper Scout 5 The build is quite plain and simple, but the harper scout adds a tiny bit of spice to it, it gives a slight boost to your saves. And who doesn't love creating potions? But the best thing is the -Eagles splendour- not the common one you would run into, since this one stacks with the normal spell. Meaning that you can get +10 CHA from casting two eagles splendour. And this will lower the need of CHA items, so you have more stuff over to boost your STR or any other stats aswell.

It certainly works, but I would recommend you do 20 paladin/5 CoT or 19/4 or 21/6, and then the 5 Harper Scout. but I always hated the "buffs just barely last an exact rest".

Paladin/Harper is a great mix. Using the HS bonus feats on Great Charisma is very nice and it has Tumble. Also nice to pick up a couple of Great Dexterity on a Dex build. Definetly an underused class on this thread. I wouldn't go as few as 15 Paladin though. Not enough spells. 20/5/5 is definetly better IMO.

Given that the Harpers are overwhelmingly a CG and even CN organization, I'm not sure how well a Paladin would fit in with their ideals. But it is certainly doable, if that's what oyu meant by "interesting RP."
Mind that you don't need to be a Harper to take the class though. Or vice versa.

Okay, since the Shifterfix thread is dead, I'm just going to ask here. This question is mainly aimed at Tormak, for obvious reasons. Should Hide and MS be merging into forms, because it does not do so for me.

Effectively Harper Scout is Just Scout in a homebrew way
And
PDK is just Knight in a Homebrew way from what I recall of past discussions.

looking for a bit of mechanical info, I have been debating weather to spend two points on CON or INT, alot further into my current build. the INT carried on from the rest of the buffing would grab a couple of spell slots and improve int related rolls by +1, but how much HP does an +1 CON modifier add?
in laymans terms, whats the formula for the con modifier to hp? (class base hp * ecl + con per level? something like that...)

+#CON modifier gives +#hp per level. You'd get 30 more Hit Points for those 2 points you put into CON. Not worth it. Just cast Endurance or put +2CON on something with a Mythal.

aye thanks for that, still not sure about it, but I don't think its entirely bad, con from items caps at +12 (+6 mod) and there arn't many other permanent ways to increase hp. I think i'm going to leave it to RP weather I end up more of a combat mage or a scholarly one =)

Since the HAK, Aasimar apparently don't get their human bonus skill anymore (which is proper but should be mentioned in the subrace description). So I'm left with two skills rather than three. I might just have to start over, I guess.
How good/necessary is Taunt? I have something like 7 ranks now. Is that enough on a Charisma build? I can't take any more if I want to get Tumble to 15. I haven't done the math, but I probably can't quite max Discipline either, anymore.

Taunt is a roll vs concentration, and most critters don't have much of it.

4 at level 1 + 1 per level = 34 skill points less than before. I would say taunt is pretty useful, but not against casters for various reasons, unless it hits then you have a winner. drops AC and adds arcane spell failure 30% to the hit target.
that said I would leave it at halfway (16? + charisma modifier) so you can buff tumble or discipline, or both.
ninj....pretty much, if they have concentration its not worth using, unless they roll 1...and nasty tanks will probably get hit as much as they do with reflex related rolls. (like grease.)
ed: thinking about it I agree with sune, you probably have enough to hit things that can be hit, and you'd need to max it to hit casters, so go for the others.

Actually, tieflings/aasimar/etc losing their skill bonus from human has existed ever since we swapped over from the original SEI subraces. Been there for years. Anyway, Taunt is nice, but if you're short on skills, you don't even need ranks on a Charisma pally. They can Taunt PCs/monsters just fine untrained. You should still have enough for at least 30 Discipline and 15 Tumble now, if you don't put anymore ranks in it.

Oh, interesting. Since it's hardcoded into being human and I thought formally changing the racial type of your PC didn't change the base race the game treats you as, I always assumed those skill points applied.
Coolio, I'll just leave Taunt as is.

It's not really hardcoded in the race, iirc. They get it from the Quick to Master feat, removing that ought to remove the extra skill points too.

Not according to NWNWiki; the feat doesn't do anything, it's just for show.
Svensk: the 23/6 Aasimar I quoted a few times, Great Smite IV or V.

I got a dumb question (one that I should know by now)-
The max bonus for an ability score is 12, right (or is it 20?)? Does this mean that item bonuses and spell effects will not allow a bonus of ever reaching above this number?
[Sorry, I haven't played NWN for a while, a bit rusty]

Yep, nothing above 12, though you could theoretically have more if you also had items that decreased these.. I think.

Nope.
If you had 10 STR, your max would be 22.
If you had 26 STR, your max would be 38.

Yo. Got a little Fuzzle-Buzzle regarding a druid actually. I've managed to level a 30 "Pure" Caster Druid , in the sense of it. But im completely messed up when it comes to setting gear. I need some help setting priorities now: For instance, What do you put on the gear - Beside Maxed Wisdom and maxed AC? I can play any other class, But druids are uncharted territory for me.

Im talking Great Smite 7-8, Instead of 4-5. Im talking about even Ending with an ' ODD' number of Charisma, To make room for more Great Smite. And maybe even taking 20Paladin/10CoT for the job. I've played both versions, and the 23/6 is mainly to build around Dev.Crit. Great Smite requires a hell-o-va more feats.

I've played both versions, and the 23/6 is mainly to build around Dev.Crit. Great Smite requires a hell-o-va more feats. Remember: I'm playing Aasimar. So there's no 20/10 option. And 23/6 nets just as many feats as 21/8, so no point going there. I'm not sure if you looked at my build on the previous two pages, but there's no Great Charisma there. So why should I end with odd (25) Charisma when I can end with 26 Charisma just as well? Great Smite 8 is an impossibility, the very best I could do is 7 but then I'd have to give up EWF and Armor Skin. It's not worth the trade-off, IMO. Aasimar 23/6 (20 pre-epic) Str 15 (16) Dex 8 Con 8 Int 10 Wis 14 Cha 20 (26) WF: Scimitar Imp Crit Power Attack Divine Might Divine Shield Extra Smiting Extend Spell Blind-Fight -- EWF Armor Skin Great Smiting V There's really no option of more Smite, unless I gimp the everyday utility of the build. Great Smite V adds 150 damage anyway, to an already massive output that's likely to be a critical, too. No point being excessive about it.

Iron is correct.
Smite four or five is superior to seven + because you are not completely gimping your character. One trick ponies do not work on a server were its perfectly logical for LN to fight LG.

Grhrm... yes, I keep forgetting the +1ECL. I hate it, and never play ECL races just because it messes -EVERYTHING- up.
On topic. The build looks OK, And i don't think there's much more to focus on other than What skills you will use.

I'd personally rather leave STR at 14 and bump CON to 10. No point in gimping your Pally like that. This also means you can drop CHA to 19 and spare another 3 ability points.

If he drops CHa down to 19, He cannot take as many Great Smite Feats. He need 25CHA @ level 20
Edit - Well, If he grabs the first Feat at 21 for Great Charisma, It works.

Starting CHA 19 - 25 at level 24. Level order at that time: Pally22/CoT1. Epic feats taken so far: EWF. Level 24: Charisma to 25, Armour skin, Great Smiting I. I don't see the problem.

Sure. But it means he has to forfeit Armour Skin or A Great Smite Feat.
That's why it doesn't work!

Im still saying he should keep CHA @20 on starting stats, and Try to get an 'Even' Number in epic.
Been saying that all along.
