I do believe there is a huge difference between someone who made a contract with a God or Devil, or was chosen by a deity (like paladins or clerics), then a guy or what else who bought a scroll from a shop. I do not agree at all to let it to be +2 instead of +1.
What's the purpose on diminishing BGs/paladins/clerics powers regarding the Divine Favor and, at same time, increasing those on a scroll ?

I like the rez/raise changes. I've seen fights where the underdogs actually got lucky and took one of the more powerful guys out, and had a chance... until a RD was used a second later. From an RP standpoint, it makes sense, and balances the mechanics out with what seems more feasible.
My only concern is: I really hate grinding, however, it is a necessity for relatively short term monetary gain and leveling (so when my character's RP writes a check, hopefully her ass will be able to cover it), and I am wondering if any of these changes are going to affect the grind in a negative manner, making it even less appealing.

As a Sorc/fighter Nina is still pretty good. Loss of GS just means it's time for a change in tactics for swarming an enemy. Umm can someone elaborate on "Barbarian rage now has the same spell-blocking as Tensers has" ? Does this apply to all rages? As in, no more scrolls/items? Or what?

where is all this 'they were raised' and came back to fight coming from? its against the rules to re-participate in a previous fight Quote: 11. If you clearly escape scene, you may not continue the ”same” PvP later, unless such behaviour is explicitly agreed by all involved parties. It is a new encounter with all the above rules. Parties may agree to a "mutual aggression" pact, where it is agreed that hostilities may commence whenever these parties interact. This must be supported by previous role-play, and is generally done when two factions (such as drow houses) have on going IC disputes that end in hostilities. It is the responsibility of the faction leaders to make sure everyone involved knows about the situation. Should this be the case, please inform the DMs about this in advance so that they know what is going on. at least i've always read this as 'you die you lose, rezed after or not', infact I made a few mistakes in the early days attacking after being raised by an opponent, thankfully, or not, they had stacked delayed fireblast... if someone states // ooc rez, your not alive for around 5 mins, was how it used to work. if your getting raised to carry on chasing someone who just killed you you ain't doing it right.

You're going a bit off-topic. IC raises in combat have never been against the rules, though.

Its to give it the same circumstances as tensers. Also: Player's Handbook 3.5 wrote: While raging, a barbarian cannot use any Charisma-, Dexterity-, or Intelligence-based skills (except for Balance, Escape Artist, Intimidate, and Ride), the Concentration skill, or any abilities that require patience or concentration, nor can he cast spells or activate magic items that require a command word, a spell trigger (such as a wand), or spell completion (such as a scroll) to function.

I mean ooc raise, the winner decides if you 'died' or not, but to avoid grief, people telling your your permanently dead (dm's get the last say in that though thats another topic entirely) etc Quote: If you do enter into RP inspired PvP that results in deaths of any PC (Player Character), you must provide an OOC raise for that character (either by yourself, or arrange for someone else to do it). or am I the only one who reads the damned rules section anymore ? -_- so regarding the new rules, since there is now a 5 min cooldown, I can forsee times where people might be left on the ground while the rest chase after an opponent, maybe even forgotten about, causing a respawn unless they wait for them to come back. which is what i've been trying to say since yesterday. ed: if this causes an influx of caster type clerics who would be willing to perform a ten minute resurrection in such cases then dang thats great but I don't see it occuring very soon. maybe after a while.

One of the reasons, I'd imagine, is because a fully raged barbarian (terrifying included), could essentially bulldoze through anyone if they have a few scrolls or wands to sling around. (Mord, Balagarn's Iron Horn, etc, etc)
((Yes, I edited))
And as listed above, it makes sense from a PnP viewpoint. I want to see a blood-drunken orc barbarian charge into battle, howling like a wolf out of hell, then suddenly see a mage and stop in his tracks to focus long enough to read a scroll correctly, then charge forward like nothing happened and pummel said mage.

Barbarians can't read scrolls or cast spells while enraged in PnP. In addition, it's likely to curb the new thought trend of barbarians being the next "big things" on campus with the balance changes. Quote: One of the reasons is because a fully raged barbarian (terrifying included), could essentially bulldoze through anyone if they have a few scrolls or wands to sling around (Mord, Balagarn's Iron Horn, etc, etc) Pretty much. They can still drink potions though. But it ICly makes sense as it does in PnP: When you're angry, truly in a bloodlusting frenzy, there isn't the presence of mind to read off a scroll or coordinate the intricate motions/phrases for spells. In barbarian's style of rage, at least.

The point is, Barbarian rage is significantly more intense than just "angry", Svensk. It's nigh a spiritual experience every time, I imagine.

I don't know what else you'd call it when "getting angry" takes you far beyond mortal limits.
Maybe not "magical". But it sure as hell aint purely human.

Things discussed in private forums. (Ala Test forums) should be kept there, no matter how you personally feel about it. You go with the team decision, its part of being an adult and responsible part of the group, I'm disappointed Mago. Secondly: Pally/BG saves with the way Amia is balanced in compilation with their AB bonus and divine shield make them the -defacto- melee guys, taking a bit of umph out of their offense for being less than pure is fine and should remain -as is- otherwise there's going to be even more widespread use/abuse of the classes. Thirdly: Everyone that got nerfed: Take it on the chin like a man/woman, you might view it as 'limiting' you or your build/spec and read the wisdom in Ruce's short but sweet posts. A wholly balanced across the spectrum place is a much better place to be. Foils/Rock/Paper/Scissors, Very_Svensk wrote: Who says you can't focus rage? Quote: Rage (Ex)
A barbarian can fly into a rage a certain number of times per day. In a rage, a barbarian temporarily gains a +4 bonus to Strength, a +4 bonus to Constitution, and a +2 morale bonus on Will saves, but he takes a -2 penalty to Armor Class. The increase in Constitution increases the barbarian’s hit points by 2 points per level, but these hit points go away at the end of the rage when his Constitution score drops back to normal. (These extra hit points are not lost first the way temporary hit points are.) While raging, a barbarian cannot use any Charisma-, Dexterity-, or Intelligence-based skills (except for Balance, Escape Artist, Intimidate, and Ride), the Concentration skill, or any abilities that require patience or concentration, nor can he cast spells or activate magic items that require a command word, a spell trigger (such as a wand), or spell completion (such as a scroll) to function. He can use any feat he has except Combat Expertise, item creation feats, and metamagic feats. A fit of rage lasts for a number of rounds equal to 3 + the character’s (newly improved) Constitution modifier. A barbarian may prematurely end his rage. At the end of the rage, the barbarian loses the rage modifiers and restrictions and becomes fatigued (-2 penalty to Strength, -2 penalty to Dexterity, can’t charge or run) for the duration of the current encounter (unless he is a 17th-level barbarian, at which point this limitation no longer applies).

Well, that's my impression at least. Disco added that automatic raise for a reason, and we never looked at the rules again when it was done.

I like all the nerfs going in. Even the no scrolls while in rage (I play a barb and i still hate it when people would breach my mindblank and hit me with a 60+ will save or fear) One thing i dont get is.. Why remove haste? Yea that rage is uber in the hands of some questionable multi class builds. But how about the pure barb? No feats, no fullplate, crappy skills and now his rage is nerfed that can only be used a limited amount of times per day. PnP is great and i play that aswell. But a PnP barb is -much- better off then a NWN barb and the before rages made the class actually affective on its own without mutli class. Without the haste makes their third rage kind of puny

Ferocity rage lost haste? Awesome. Always felt it should have been replaced with expeditious retreat anyway. Haste single handedly made it the best rage option hands down and IMO, each should have been an option.

It was a mistake on my part, I messed up the effect linking.
Haste on ferocity will be restored next update I do which is probably later tonight.

My Dev.critter now does 300 magical damage on a dev.crit, if the target already is dev.crittet (hope that makes sence). Does the 300 damage depend on her weapon (a doublesword)?

Remember, Remember, The Blackguard's November(Oktober), the Nerf-power treason and plot! I know of no reason, Why the nerf-Power treason, Should ever be forgot! I love you. Changed boots? Not wearing armor? Haste + Mage Armor? Divine Shield?
ED: Logged in and checked Torin. He still has his full tumble AC. User error, I suspect.

Very_Svensk wrote: Who says you can't focus rage? Hell, Even IRL people do that. Remember those vikings? Many believe they made concoctions from the poisonous amanita mushroom/s to get into that berserker rage, before going into battle. I can imagine the feelings of the people they were confronting. How would you react to a giant with an axe or sword, screaming and running towards you with the intent to kill? Fear? I think so. Quite understandable if you can't focus on anything wits related, whilst seeing red and only thinking about the kill.

The statement was 'Already' conduced by Dwagin, that it's Magical. And hence no more IRL parallels need to be drawn.
Beating a dead horse.

Dark Immolation wrote: Barbarians can't read scrolls or cast spells while enraged in PnP. I agree with the Rage change. However, your point of it changing the big man on campus is moot. 1.) The changes may not affect the class that severely 2.) Even if it does, it just makes another class the big man class: Paladin.

Paladins are Paladins. There isn't much left to be done with them. Edit: Plus, most people can't handle being Lawful Good. I know that I can't.

The RP of your Paladin actually depends more on your deity than the LG alignment. As some in game have shown, you can be a Paladin and seem like a total ass. And nobody has trouble playing asses... Or maybe that's just me for -some- reason.
