Is +5/5 a massive waste of Perfect Mythal... not just in PvP but also PvM?

Use the Advice Thread, and yes, I'd say it is unless you have absolutely nothing better to do than wipe your arse with it.
Still, however, I slap +5/5 on all of my characters for the main PvM set (unless it has natural DR). Usually it's attainable a lot cheaper ways than wasting a Perfect.

Nope not a waste, in-fact its awesome sauce. But it depends on your build.
With a rogue~ You dont need it.

PVP its kind of pointless unless your a palemaster as its just a heal potion fight till someone Dev crits.
PvE its great if you go walking into a lower area and just want to cut down on some damage and dont need crazy high AC and AB to dodge and hit them.

Rogue? Damage Reduction? Sounds like a cheesy build has just been created a few light miles away... Why would you want +5/+5 reduction anyway? Even with just something like damage reduction against piercing, slicing, you are better off with that sort of gear instead of wasting a perfect mythal on that sort of stuff. But I guess it depends on the "Rogue" you are making, such as *Rogue/*Warrior/*WM but then I'm not a builder... but then I guess you could still go with Uncle-Opustus' idea. ....*Cleric/*Barbarian/*Rogue anyone...? Might make a good RP sandwich somewhere. Quote: PVP its kind of pointless unless your a palemaster as its just a heal potion fight till someone Dev crits. Wisey words of wiseness but then PM Devvies's should be given a good boot up their boney arse since they're fighting with an arm that's nothing but bone! Find me a Demilich that can gnaw off a tree with its own teeth and I'll take that back. *Nodnod*

Personally, I wouldn't get it, but it really depends. If you can afford it, and do not want anything else, and have an item power to spare, it would be handy, but otherwise, it's pretty inefficient... A +3 fort would probably work better anyway.

It's worth doing if:
You cannot reliably cast a good source of stone skin (not potions) You do not have innate DR (barbarian, DwD, epic DR feats)
IF you have those, the 5/+5 will do basically nothing for you.

I'd like to see the perfect mythal giving out a better damage reduction. 5/+5 isn't that useful.

It is very useful. The only step up is 10/+5, and that is the realm of Stoneskin and DC requests.
There are other facets of the mythal system that would be more important to look at.

Many different versions of it, but nothing with more Cleric than Barbie. If you want to discuss it, please do it in the Build Advice Thread or then PM.

Wait, does item DR merge into shifter shapes with their own DR?

Yes, but the shapes' DR may be superior.
