The pet is the best part of being a druid. You're practically a tagalong for the real character: The Big Dawg.

Interesting concept.

I had the delightful pleasure to hunt with Uberuce's little Dwarven Defender.
I was specifically shocked, and impressed, by his choice of tactic.

    A - Forsake all AC
    B - Pump all in DR/Reduction
C - Drink Flame Shield Potions.

Equals = Shitload of Space in his gear. And mobs killing themselves as they hit him.

Question
Can this be done on a barbarian?
For as i understood, You need like 30/- DR reduction

Wardens are 4e. They're basically just a DwD.

It's all true. But I was asking to emulate the class in Amia's setting. I've seen enough anyway to form an opinion, thanks alot those who answered!

The Max DR you can get without DwD is 16/-. Just make a Barbarian and take Epic DR3.

Alternatively, there's the Cory route. Undead shape has no Wisdom requirement so you can have a high CON Epic DR shifter turning into the Skeleton pretty easily.

Just to clerify.. yes animal companions are boosted on this server.. Infact all summons are alot stronger than defalut NWN.

Regardless.. They are useless at epic levels in any sort of PVP unless they are pvping someone without any AC. With the 15/15 You get a self-buffed haste rager with decent AB.

Undispellable haste > Animal companion.

Any day of the week.

No, the Animal Companion that has an attack bonus in excess of 50 and is also permenantly hasted due to the steady supply of Iceberries it eats (Branch of Giving gives pets +1d10 damage & haste for 1 turn/level) is incredibly powerful. Then there is also the option of marrying to an additional summon, such as the Dragon Knight...and theres the Druid's spellcasting, Earthquake and the like.....and perhaps even Dragonshape. With 15 Druid levels you lose out on all the good stuff and your buffs are crap. 60 Round Extended Aura of Vitality > Rage.

**28 Cleric 1 Bard 1 AA Zen Archering Caster Cleric.
**21 Cleric 2 Bard 7 AA Dex/Cha Cleric (Ridiculous AC aswell as the mentioned damage and AB)
10(9)Monk 1(2)Wizard 19 AA
18 AA 10 Fighter 2 Bard
17 Rogue 2 Bard 11 AA

I don't rate the Bard/AA at all since running in and cursing and running back out to shoot is counter-intuitive, thus doesn't even rate an honorable mention in my book.

Toying with some calculations of damage on that one. Just experimenting.

For build **
In terms of damage, It has;
    +5 Divine Favour

    +1AA Arrow

In order to take "full" advantage you could just make a pure druid. But that as not the point far as I understood.

Regardless.. The animal companion may be great for pvm but thats about it. In such a high magic server with the combination of items and self-buffs an epic PC will 9 out of 10 times be far stronger.

I would go as far to say that on my main I could stand infront of every animal companion on the server each one fully buffed, and not have a worry. Where as a barbarian druid hybrid could be made quite troublesome. Taking into count epic terrifying rage, its self haste, decent AB (Possibly supplimented by true strike potions) and average epic gear.

Yeah five attacks/round with 33 damage adds up pretty quick! Espeically if they toss in some called shots and the target they are hitting slows to a stop haha

The issue with these caster clerics is all the feats you want to take.

Sure, Rapid shot exists on a cloak, But the rest are sort of essential.

Base Race - Elf

Equals = 7 Feats Pre-Epic

    #1Extend
    #2Maximize
    #3Still spell
    #4SpellFocus
    #5Greater spell Focus
    #6PointBlank Shot
    #7Wep.Focus Longbow
Then we want to fit both Rapid shot and Called shot.

Wow, You're really new :o

maximize - There's a limit of how much Stats and skills you can put on your gear. Maximize gets you far, so you can use the limit to other things.

Still spell
Ever had 14 Casts of Earthquake? Nothing survives that. It's for pure orgasm only.

Afraid I dont follow your logic. I AM new to the server but not new to NWN.

With only 21 caster levels alot of SR will beat you. You want an archer? Put the feats to make it a decent archer i'd say.

Burning a feat to be able to cast your level 9 spells as earthquakes is "alright" I guess.. if you're adverse to mixing in an SOV. SoV + Greater dispell + Earthquake seems like a great combo to me.
Still not something I would give up

As for maximized. With the ammount of potions available and mid/low level casting slots.. Hardly a concern to get a max on the first roll.

Ok I'm struggling with a build concept. I'm making a Sun Elf paladin and I'm not sure how I want to do his build. This is what I started with:

Paladin (27), Monk (1), Fighter (2).

This is what I'm looking at:

Paladin (19), Monk (1), CoT (10) or
Paladin (20), Monk (1), CoT (9)

Any feedback? I'm trying to determine if that 10th level of CoT is worth throwing away a level 4 spell slot over.

Stats:
STR: 18 (26)
INT: 14
WIS: 14
CHA: 12 (14)

If your going a devver you want the most epic feats to increase your STR for dev DC so yes it is.

Keep in mind there are ways of adding bonus lvl 4 spell slots.

You want maximised spells to buff your party and you can't do that with potions. Parties don't benefit from clerics only buffing themselves.

Quote:

Nope. One dispel scroll and your buffs are gone. You may be still hasted, but you can't hit a barndoor with the druids AB. Also most players on the server know how to deal with true strike potions. They run in circles while you try to catch them and then they laugh you in the face and kill you.

Also 15 druid is a waste in itself because your animal will be sucky in PvM. That 15/15 build is a waste of time and not competitive, but its your time so go for it if you want. :)

Well, Palemaster's question is valid. Are you intending on going the DevCrit route, or Just STR Route?(GO dev go dev go dev go dev go dev!)

Good feats to have are;
    #1Wep Focus
    #2Imp.Crit
    #3blind fight
    #4extend spell
    #5Power attack
    #6Divine might
    #7Divine shiled

For the Dev.Route.
    #8 Cleave
    #9 Great Cleave

This equals = That you need to, Maybe, take some levels of CoT in Pre-Epic.

Regarding 10Cot, or 9 Cot.
The Key-Levels of Cot are 6 and 10.

I'd reccomend taking away either 1 Paladin level, Or Reducing the amount of Cot levels to 6; And balance it out with more paladin levels.

End Result;
    23Paladin/1Monk/6CoT

Anything with terrifying rage is competative in pvp..

Afraid I dont see any better way to add barbian to the druid class than 15/15

Easily countered with mindblank potions. Druid doesn't really mix well with a melee class, unfortunately. Does your concept require that particular mix?

Could go Ranger 26/Barb1/Rogue 3, If you're desperate about the barbarian levels.

Just RP him going bezerk(Without the Stats to back the claim up) as you click 'Rage'

As for mindblank.. You'll be in a corner feared if you rely on that to save you from terrifying rage against anyone that comes prepared

Not possible. However, any class is possible to go EDR, but you'll need AC with that.

EDIT: Also, Svensk, you phale so go to your room and cut your wrists open. Maximise beats Still on a Cleric any day.

Still stuck on this one.
Obviously, Rapid shot will be taken on a Cloak; And used in PvE only. (I Don't see myself running about, Clicking Rapid shot On/off nohstop during Player hunting)

Worth taking Called Shot as an Epic Feat?

Definitely planning on going the dev crit route. Kind of pointless not to when I'm going for high strength anyways.

Now, bare in mind I also have to use two epic feats to boost CHA up to 14. That's mostly because I ran out of epic feats to take when I have all my feats for CoT in epic levels.

Pre-epic, I have everything but Blind Fight and Extend Spell. I'll have to take a look at the spreadsheet again when I get home to see what I have substituting for them. I'm liking that 23 P/1 M/6 CoT variation though.

Just briefly, Tell me how the Starting Ability stats look like?

That's after the Sun Elf subrace has been added. I had to throw two points into CON to keep myself from getting gimped in that department. Keep in mind this isn't meant to be a powerbuild by any means. I simply want to get the most out of the start of it that I can.

Just start with STR 17 and CHA 14 and take two Great Strength feats instead of two times Great Charisma and one Great Strength.

on the topic of druids 'pets' I agree, if you went 30 and had a fey even it would gank. and be good at opening doors.

Quote:
The summoned creature gains the following benefits:

• Armor Class +1 / 2 CL
• Claw Enhancement +1 / 5 CL
• Regeneration +1 / 5 CL
• Attack Bonus +2 / 5 CL
• Universal Saving Throw Bonus +1 / 5 CL

• Resistance to bludgeoning, piercing and slashing damage
• 1st – 10thCL: 5/-
• 11th – 20th CL: 10/-
• 21st – 30th CL: 15/-

so +6 saves max, +6 enhance, +12 ab, 5 regen, etc...of course that would be utterly maxed with a pure druid, but the point is valid.

it would also (i think) raise your caster level hit dc the same as any other mage class, as for wardens, I would have thought druid was quite important to that, though a more melee build could also work.

and the paladin build I be seeing, I would suggest (with testing) 3 monk 6 cot 21 paladin maybe, gains you monk speed, +2 to mind saves, and deflect arrows, I would guess your planing on taking the monk at level 1 for cleave etc...its a shame divine wrath doesn't increase again until COT 10 but speed may balance it out a bit if you end up not getting there, and obviously the bonus of monk boots. or even 8 Cot 19 paladin, bonus feat and sacred defence +1 at the loss of one spell slot.

theres alot of variations you could go with, and I can't get the build calculator working to be able to check that one. (has no excel.)

ed: fully full blown ninja'd.....take monk level one for cleave free >_> (ed: providing it doesn't screw with anything else.)

ed2: *palmface* I mean druid companion animals...my druid is cross classed wizard, no fey for yous.

Quote:
Deflect Arrows
Type of feat: general
Prerequisite: dexterity 13+, improved unarmed strike

Specifics: The character can attempt to deflect one incoming missile attack per round. This is treated as a reflex save made against DC 20.

Use: Automatic if not caught flat-footed. Monks receive this feat for free at level 2.
edit Notes

* Use of this feat requires at least one hand free. Using a two-handed weapon, such as a bow, will prevent this.
* This feat does not work with a sling equipped.
* Arcane archers, assassins, and blackguards are unable to select this feat.

Glyph. Are you suggesting Jyro's char is to run around with 'Only' a sword, And no shield?

And No. 10% More Move speed does not weigh up More BAB; Longer lasting spells and one epic feat

And? Sun Elf gets +2 INT, -2 CON. Can't see what that has to do with going STR 17 and CHA 14 over STR 18 and CHA 12 and then stupidly wasting three epic feats when you could waste only two?

NO, you don't get it. He's already made the char; And we're trying to salvage it.

He took down CON to 6.
Had 12 INT
And had 3 Points left to store in STR 18

Sun elf boosted INT to14.

Quote:
STR 18
DEX 10(8)
CON 8 (6)
WIS 14
INT 12(14)
CHA 12

I guess I failed again, but I am wondering why the 1 monk?

and no unless you have a greatsword focus dev crit/ scythes -_- I would not suggest running about with no shield. and yea con 6 is rather loow, buff with items asap to survive imo.

Rogue is a nice Addition, But it requires you have the INT to pay for it.
Yet some players feel that sneaks doesn't suite the paladin.

k that makes sense.

one more thing, i'm not seeing exotic weapons on the list, there are a few non exotic weapons that are good for critical damage, but they lack regular output comparing.

ehm...http://nwn.wikia.com/wiki/Threat_range >_> and I shall say nothing more on the subject.

ninja again lol, correct me if i'm wrong cause this comes from an ingame chat, but bards recieve sneaks also? 1 bard could work. then again monk gear is nice. as is evasion.

1Other can be Rogue for UMD.
It can be Fighter or Ranger for free feat.
Or perhaps even Cleric for Domain powers, eg Battle Mastery
Or even Sorceror or Wizard for a familiar (Which can be cool) and access to scrolls
