There are kara-tur chars on Amia? Request one and see.
Why would you need to request one? They are humans, after all...Just use the base human template and be done with it? Unless there's something I'm missing.

WM is a must here really. . The lore on WMs work really well with the Samurai like nature and focus, as well as mindset and training.
Weapon masters take intense focus on teh weapon they choose, and they don't crit stronger and harder, or have the ki-strikes from only training.
They have monklike abilities that go trough the sword, rather than their body.. and yes, they focus Ki into their swords, or rather psionic energies (manipulation of ki is classified as such in the dnd books at least), and use it to perfect the strike of their blade. Hence the Ki-strike
Same goes with Ki-criticals. They focus their energies trough the blade, allowing it to strike far better than anyone that simply train with the blade. They basically have the blade become an extention of their body when wielded..
And normally WMs can only get these bonuses from mastercrafted weapons, because lesser quality ones cannot channel that energy.

Like other classes such as the monk, red avenger, and master samurai, the weapon master uses an esoteric force known as ki to increase his lethality in combat. His goal is to unite his weapon of choice with his body, and be able to use it without conscious effort as naturally as he would use any other limb. Individual weapon masters are often named for their weapons: for instance, a weapon master who uses longswords would be a "longsword master," a warhammer wielder would be a "warhammer master," etc.
Ki Damage: Once per day per level, a weapon master may choose to make a special attack with his weapon of choice. If this attack hits, it automatically inflicts maximum damage.
Increased Multiplier: At second level, a weapon master can focus ki to improve their chance of landing a critical blow once per day. They gain an additional use of this skill at each even-numbered level thereafter.
Ki Critical At seventh level, a weapon waster's critical threat range increases by 2 when using their Weapon of Choice.

I wish more people would roleplay their weaponmaster according to such fashion, rather than the more common "I trained more with my sword" reason. Then again, it's open to the same diversity as other classes and methods of doing it, I suppose. In my mind though, weaponmaster is monk-like focus for warriors.

ki is from the real life...equivilent qi gong, or chi, or whatever you feel like calling it today, grave is right, it is like a monks fist but with weapons.
I guarentee at least one of you has seen that picture...chuck norris rolls to hit, misses and does damage anyway, because he's chuck norris, etc...
i'm not sure if it is technically a psionic power though, it works from the mind but its a deffinate physical addition to your skills. but yea, the WM part of peoples builds is often overlooked imo cause there isn't anything other than "I trained really freaking hard for a week and now I can cleave your head off" to go by.
it goes without saying, WF katana...but kara-tur is...well, I think disco left it out of the subraces for a reason...if I were ever to make something like that i'd go with a near far-east human katana fighter/WM/paladin? or just paladin/wm...not sure which would work from the top of my head, but yea, I would rather that than try to figure out what a dielect of kara-tur means and which one I would be speaking.
[kt 1] hi [kt 2] you what? [kt 5] what are you guys talking about?
as for are there any...i've seen ONE, total, ever. they didn't speak common.

The Tuigan are nomads of the Endless Wastes and Quoya desert, also known as the Hordelands. They're closely related to Kara-Turans, which means their skin is yellowish-bronze and hair is black. Their features are broad and flat, and they are a hardy lot, used to the freezing winters and hot summers. Tuigan are expert horsemen and masters of the short bow. Boys and girls are trained equally in these skills.
The Tuigan nomadic tribes have no clear leadership; instead, one tribe can have several khans who act on their own as long as they don't interfere with eachother's doings. There are no permanent towns in the Hordelands, the tribal folk live in portable tents.
Religion and tradition are very important to the Tuigan, and they have a complex web of customs almost impossible for foreigners to understand. Their two main deities are the lord of the sky, Teylas, and Etugen, the goddess of the earth. Elsewhere on Faerûn they're known as Akadi and Grumbar. Each tribe also has several lesser deities and spirits they worship. Beast cults, such as that of the horse, are common. Important locations like mountains and oases also have their own guardian spirits who must be revered. The Tuigan have no evil gods, as misfortunes are blamed either on evil spirits or angering a deity. The tribal customs are supposed to keep this from happening.
In 1359-1360, Tuigan hordes united under the banner of Yamun Khahan and attacked Shoul Lung in the east and the border lands of Faerûn in the west. They were defeated on both fronts, but Tuigan immigrants still ive in the lands around Thay, Rashemen, Thesk, Narfell and Semphar.

Japan is not as broad as just Kara-Tur. Kara-Tur encumpases the general middle aged parody of Asia in general including India to Tibet to China to Japan and places above, below, and in between. Kara-Tur is split up into regions.
Samurai/Feudal Japan is mostly linked to Kozakura in Kara-Tur.
There are Kara-Turan characters in Amia. A Samurai would have little reason to be in Amia, I'd imagine, but there's always a possibility. Samurai are of course very loyal to their masters. Unless they are master-less, then in which case they aren't Samurai, but Ronin.
In terms of class, Paladin's sort of close, apart from the divine spells. WM isn't really generic Samurai, but more a specific kind. WM is mainly based on the idea of a Kansai warrior or "Sword Saint". Basically using a single weapon and focusing all on that. Samurai would more likely built toward a dual-wielder with Katana and Wakizashi. (Longsword & short sword combo) with perhaps a Tanto (dagger) hidden somewhere.
Samurai would be Lawful alignment, no exceptions. (I got that from the classes section from 'Oriental Adventures' campaign setting for 3rd edition) much like a Paladin, monk or Dwarven Defender.
I hope that's helpful to you.

Would it be possible if my character was indeed Ronin, that he could find another master in Amia? I don't see why travelling great distances if say he was transported by a travelled mage or such?

That "travelled mage" is not transporting the entire eastern worldview along with you. Don't try to make the limited region of this setting magically conform to your character's eastern concepts.
That's different, Tormak. That's how this concept should be. What the player is wanting here is for the setting to become more eastern to accomodate a Kara-Turan samurai PC. As in, there should be an easily obtained master available in Amia.
Odds of Karaturan making their way to Amia? slim to none.
Don't we have a Kara-Turan resturaunt? How would it be any more difficult than hearing legends of Amia from a merchant who travels to-and-fro and being intrigued about such a distant and strange land? >> Then simply tagging along with the merchant much like how we, as players, tag along with the carts going between towns in-game.

That's how my elf got to Amia.

Eh, there's no question as to whether it's a vialbe/legal character concept. It's more like "Please no more corny anime PCs in a Trackless Sea setting." You can come to Amia from anywhere on this plane (and possibly other planes if you walk them, as long as you're of a basic race I guess). That doesn't mean it's cool or tasteful, though. In fact, if you were to ask me I find it pretty odd that a samurai who is strictly defined by his socio-economic status in a feudal system would hold onto his role in a completely new setting. But each to their own.
Tuigans, however, are culturally far from Wa or Kozakura (which is what you're looking at, if you must do it). They're mongols, as was pointed out above. There's no appropriate regional subrace, so you'd have to use base human.
If you just want a Bushido-like PC, you could add a twist by adapting the theme to fantasy. Drop the oriental terminology, and be a straight-up Monk-Knight or Paladin/WM of Helm. Or you could give some fluff to a racial/cultural fighting tradition with your own school of thought. I chose one specific style of bladesong for my elven Bladesinger, which he adapted in his own training after he ended up studying alone without a master. That gave me free reins to take it where I wanted and integrate it into the setting at the same time, and the real-world parallels were buried under heaps of fantasy nonsense.
Just some ideas. But as I said, it's not prohibited to play a straight-up Kurosawa rip-off. You could just do so much more with it, IMO.

I have a Eastern Human from Wa that made her way to Amia via the Alamber Sea (Khem). There's nothing too odd with a few Kara-Turan PC's. There really aren't that many to begin with anyway. What -would- be odd though, is a Kara-Turan who sticks to a strict Samarai way of being. I can see an ex-Samarai, turned _____ who keeps some of the Samarai flavor. But a strict and straight up Samarai? Eh... I don't think it could work very well at all.
Doesn't mean we need to add lore. It's not the flavor of the server. "Deal with it", I think is the phrase I'm looking for. Disco has said he's not adding it.

He said he wasn't adding null cloaks too...

A samurai PC would be reasonible on amia if they were on their warrior's pillgirmage though if I'm correct they would be refferd to as ronin during that time.

weapon focus katana, use the ones that are there, don't expect mass changes to the server to suit the class choice.
you can RP nearly anything, as for the background relevance, like I said, I saw one person pull it off before, they didn't speak common, and also tis true most samurai just used spears and such, I forget the conversation about making katanas (irl..) from a while back but I recall something about their generals/squad leaders etc got katanas.
I also think paladin and weapons master fit th bill nicely, but you could make a samurai druid, who knows. improv!
