Will this argument make any further progress? Most of the recent posts contain no new arguments. The poor rehashing of of old arguments has started.

Started? It happened on page 2 when people just came up with new reasons to justify whatever. If someone wnats to play an atheist, they'll do so regardless of lore.

Is there a diety tool? Having almost all my chars being 5 years old I hate that my ignorance then is tormenting me now. Ive spent hours searching for certain idols and asking about them or where they are with little to no luck at all :( and I dont want to have to remake all my chars so I can put something in the diety field

Holy Necropost! o_O

Anyway! Concerning your question, I am not sure what you mean with deity tool, but you can have any of your characters click on any of the idols in game to have their deity field filled.

You'll have to seek out the idols, yes. They are the "deity tool", so to speak.

If you're asking people and not getting anywhere, presumably due to the shadiness/obscureness of your deity...2 options spring to mind...

1. Ask DM to set it for you. Boring.
2. ICly pray to your god (the DM channel) for a clue! Riddletastic fun to be had by all.

We can't set it for you. You do need to go find a idol.

N.B.: We can, but we probably won't.

If the idols were easier to find then that could probabaly help peoples decisions in being faithless or not. Theres -alot- of deities in Amia and if they all have their own idol then I dont think Ive seen even a quarter of them in my time here. Couldnt we have like a book of them or something in each town that some scholar or wizard wrote because he seeked em all out that tells where the idol your looking for is or a general idea on where its located?
Or could have it where you can pick any diety from any idol you come to but make harsh penalties vs someone changing from one diety to another so people cant just change on a whim. But someone faithless, whenever they decide to believe in something, wont have to ask people that dont know where it is, or wont tell you because of the diety itself can grab it without having to spend hours probabaly by themselves to find their idol.

Actually a book from which you can select all deities once you created your character would be neat. No idol is required for you to pray to a god, so it would make sense ic as well. Furthermore, you can give a warning message that as a faithless you can not be raised by any raise spell and need to respawn (or be perma dead if we want to do it properly).

Hang on - I didn't think that was true at all lore-wise.

Being raises is an act of a divine being, in this case a god.
Being fiathless hurts the gods.

Ergo: You won't get a raise by someone who will get hurt by it.

How the respawning works into it is another amtter though.

Quote:
The Faithless are those mortals who don't have a divine patron to speak for them. This could either be because they never worshiped one, it died, or simply that their god doesn't want them for some reason. Their fate is to be made part of the City wall in The City of Judgment on the Fugue Plane. Each soul is held together with a green mould from which no one who is part of the wall can break free. After a time, the souls dissolve to become a natural part of the plane itself.

I was under the impression that those within the wall can not be raised anymore. I just checked on candlekeep too where someone wrote this:

Quote:
If a faithless is enclosed into the wall, then he is beyond the power of mortal magic. The "best" way to get him back then would be to speak with Kelemvor or Jergal and convince them to give him a second chance. Good luck with that.

Though seeing I can not find it in a book and the poster above did not name a source for it either, I will not put my hand in the fire for it.

There is absolutely nothing in the resurrection rules about being Faithless. Sure, once she is judged she is gone, but the fact that there is no specific time frame listed for the duration of that judging and the queue, which is at least long enough for devils to try and negotiate with you, indicates that you easily have enough time to raise them.

FR lorewise, Gabe is right. However, I doubt the DM's are okay with the faithless being forced into perma death, so they can be raised on Amia, I'd say.

I have yet to find a single reference that states if you die faithless you are immediately unable to be raised (as opposed to eventually unable to be raised). Please supply a source.
