I like just about anything (though humor especially) so long as it's not asinine and has some element of FR-level realism to it. Also, anything that requires you to think and reason things out. The Iceberg! plot was an excellent example of it, for those who know what I'm talking about. I got a good giggle out of everyone getting ice dropped on them repeatedly, but the puzzles were also very engaging.

Can't say I'm a fan of humour or action-heavy.
The rest are all good.

Epic. If you want to have an epic plotline, it has to be epic. Love, friends, traitors, villains.. that's the stuff I like.

These are rare and, from a DM standpoint, very difficult to pull off. They often must take place over a very long period of RL time, enough to get people emotionally invested enough for love to feel real, for friendship to feel genuine, to build up the reputation of the traitor that is dashed the moment he/she turns coat, and enough nastiness from the villain to make it feel an "epic victory" to overcome him/her.

But we do our best.

An example of a Epic plot would have been the Ankhremun and Nes'ek defence. That is the perfect example of a Epic plot.

I think an "action" plot is hard to do well, but it's my favorite when done right: kill the princess, save the dragon.

I have a question for the DMs about quests like this. How much are players allowed to move the quest along naturally? Does the DM try to keep the plotline they are following the same as they had envisioned as much as they can, or is it possible to let the plot move forward (and live or die) based on how the players deal with it?

Ask Grymia about Ne'sek, and what I put the players through because of their failures.

I'll be honest, I wanted to leave Ne'sek a wreck. ;)

Hehehe..

Ah yes, I have to admit Ne'sek was ... well, HELL but at the same time, it was worth it when the job got done and when Zan'thum was defeated.

It did have an impact on Bryce's life as a whole.. ^^

My own plots are largely played by ear; See what the Players do, and determine from there. Thus, my plots are heavily Player driven; doesn't mean I'll be too merciful when their actions stack odds in their disfavour, though.

I'm not sure if this is still relevant but I voted on it. I chose Mystery! The fact that mystery is two options is just as mysterious and I will get to the bottom of it!

Depends on which character I'm playing. I'll of course participate in whatever comes along, but I enjoy some genre plots more than others.

But most of the time, action heavy/epic/character-building. I'd rather be left with a plot that gives my character a story to tell in any case. If a plot can use mystery that will lead to some action down the road, rather than mystery for mystery's sake(soap opera stuff), I like it.

With my goodies, I enjoy more political stuff, if they get to participate. My neutrals, action and epic, if it means epic action. Only one of my characters wants to change the world.

Can't say I'm a fan of humor-based plots on anything but my ditzy bard.

Wow, Necropost.

I wonder if that was Tormak's first post. Dates match. And the effort put into it and the balancing act at the end is fairly typical of an introductory post....

There were certain parts of the post I edited out after it became apparent that certain people on Amia are willing to be really fucking creepy and go so far as to attempt to stalk me. Unless you are one of those people, there's really no need for you to care why I edit any of my posts at all. It's certainly none of your business.

Old post. *shrug*

Personally, I like any event that genuinely makes me feel scared or disturbed on a personal level.

I did some digging and found the original, unedited Tormak post:

Quote:
hey guys i like them all any RP is good (dam powergamers) but i like mystery because i dont know lol... and when you dont know its more fun... somtimes. like me i have a new char (bard20 RDd 5 and ??) and im not sure if i should take fighter for evasion or monk for glow eyes (my friend from arelith told me they are good for fighting golems) anyway i think the DM should go with RP because RP is the best and theres people out there that dont even know

Political, without a doubt. Shame I haven't made any characters on Amia suited to politics...

Well, one, but he felt too one-dimensional for me to continue. At least all my other characters are two-dimensional.

Humour, best if serious characters get caught up in the situation which is played on a deadpan level. A good mix is the best, of course, but really I enjoy spontaneity (that word is awesome), when a DM springs something on you, just when you thought you were 'safe'. . .

Dear god. Necropost ahoy.

Anyway. I don't really care what the DMs choose to do as long as it's fun. Those, these days, I tend to try and avoid a lot of the long-standing, take-forever ones. I like my hole and I'mma stay there.
