I know you can download the linux client directly from Bioware without arsing about with a CD install. Is there a way to do this with a windows version as well? Could have sworn i heard someone mention it, but couldn't find it on their site.

Just download the .iso:s from somewhere, like the Pirate Bay, mount with a tool like daemontools, or whatever they have for this on windows, and install with your own cd keys.

Honestly just keep a burnt copy of your game's directory. Because NWN barely touches your registry it's basically just a big cut and paste game  It works for me  Can even slap it onto a new drive letter and it works perfectly.

I wish I had the time/energy/madskills/techgeekstreetcred to learn the dumb terminal for linux. I used ubuntu for a while and loved it but any time anything went wonky it was totally beyond my skill to fix... it was forever before I could even get sound drivers working. Bleh. Still loved my little linux notebook. Then she died. I'll try the paste thing when I wake up. Stinger scorpion things on B cost me like...8 res scrolls tonight and I'm now braindead. Night all.
