Hello everyone.
I'd like to ask something and I'm sorry if its noobish question.
I was trying for few days trying to get any musical instrument in the city of Cordor. First it was really hard to find a shop where they have something like that. Than after in the planes of knowledge there was one merchant which has just magical flute and magical lute. I saved my money to buy flute for 5k and I was really disappointed finding out that I can't wear it in hand. I didn't care about magical effect it has, just wanted to have some musical instrument as a bard. I'm scared that when I buy lute for 50k I will not be able to use it for playing as well. Could someone help me and at least tell me that there are some instrument which can be carried in hands for RP?

Thank you very much.

I nearly bought a drum that I assume is visual...not enough cash though. and I think most are reserved for bard classes. I am interested in this also, I am no bard but I don't see why you wouldn't be able to drum along on a basic instrument with menial if any properties.

try PC merchants, they might know what your looking for, and I guess "tell" that you want it visual so you don't waste your coin

I think lutes are mainly visual, I saw two bards with lutes at kohl fest

I don't know where they are. They'rea hak stuff and Disco has been slowly integrating it. I'd rather jst seem mundane versions f them all for sale at the Triumvir.

if possible can we get a list of instruments which are holdable? I'm not sure basic nwn info would be relevant to amia here, talking about the hak and all.

weirdly i'd rather not play the lute/guitar ICly and i'm not sure what else there is. (weirdly because im a guitarist O_o /drummer/bass/etc...but mainly guitar)

I know for sure there is a harp, it looks better then the lute in all honesty. the lute looks massive, more a bass cello.

I don't care much about what type of instrument it will be and as I'm bard I will have no problem with that limitation. I don't need magic stuff. I just want to be able to play something. Well at least I know there are some instruments.

Thank you

Ask a DM to give you a plain old instrument, they may do it. Won't be special or enchanted, but it will be useable. You may have to RP for it.

Lute
Flute
Harp
Violin (You can get one, not sure if its in the HAK however).

I didn't want to hijack your request thread so I thought this was the next most relevant place, there was some discussion of a band of sorts last night, I know i've seen lutes but I think a holdable drum would be a good addition for a band, can't really stand there with five "guitars" >_> and banging on the table wasn't really that great a substitute.

if selvec is correct there is a huge gap in precussion and brass instuments that are weildable. string well you could call the lute a mandolin or a guitar or a banjo and get away with it RPly. for brass there are trumpets which arn't weildable as such, and pan pipes for wood, but all you really need is a generic string woodwind brass and percussion instrument to cover bases. two of four of which are covered already somewhat again if Selvec is correct.

I think this is the fifth time in a short while I've sene a topic like this. I know it's on Disco's list but we can safely asume its not on the top. Ther are people with wearable lutes, but I'm guessing those wher especially requested. So guess its wait or request it and maybe pay dc's for it (just like with the new weapons models before it got added to the job system)

I'd feel bad for charging y'all for them, personally.

How much is it anyway to get a equipable lute?

I wouldn't mind paying the DC and RPing learning to play a drum, or the lute if this cannot be currently done. I won't make the request just yet though I need to meet more bards and visit more festivals with glyph to get the ICly interest up.

also I was wondering if non-bards could legitimatly take it up as a hobby, though I imagine in any sort of bardic showdown I would lose somewhat, RPly and statwise. I think it would be a nice addition to camping to be able to bust out a tune while people are resting, medidating, and whatnot, amongst other situations I can think of, and this band thing, might be difficult to find min of 3 actual bards that get along, though I believe it has been done.

nin...take a look at bluud elfs request thread.

Instrument maker? Doubt there is a fancier sounding general name for it.

A luthier makes stringed instruments such as guitars, violins, and lutes.
