Alright, I have been PvPing a bit more lately and have to say a few things about pvp in general on this server, some complaints really lol. Anyway:

1. Stop abusing OOC outs

I see this so damn often. Drow or whatever calling my character a coward, then walking away quickly and getting annoyed when he attacks them. If you are taking the OOC out, then you really need to ICly shut up. This abuse of OOC outs happens to me daily, I dont mind people walking away and saying coward/I will kill you in your sleep/whatever...but expect pvp.

2. Stop getting annoyed when AoE hits you.

I do not know how many angry OOC tells I have gotten from people who got annoyed when an AoE spell hit them, despite my character very specifically saying "clear, a battle will soon commence". Its stupid, and no I dont have to set you to hostile. However, if the DMs allow me to set the entire server to hostile in case one of them gets hit by an AoE, then I will!

3. Stop with the emoted actions you cannot do

Grapples/pnp spells and all other nonsense like that just dont work in PvP. Use the in game system unless it is agreed upon before hand that it will be pnp.

4. The damn hiders

If your character is in dark clothes hiding behind me, and I cast, bad luck. You are hostile, clearly...If I turn around in my room now and notice a ninja with his sword out, its a fight or flight situation. Enough of these spies that abuse the system. Its hostile to hide and sneak up on people, obviously.

At the rate this is going, its going to be giggle-huggles and nothing else soon.

I realize this will get locked, but someone had to say it. In the end, as long as people are not trying to cause you OOC issues with the pvp you should really just shut up or play Second Life. Simple.

I agree more or less with all of these, but especially #3. The "system" for resolving grapples in-game is fine for RP, bur far too clumsy for use during a fight. It's a perfect mechanism for transforming IC PvP to OOC flame wars.

Marginally related: On one occasion, a character rolled a Persuade check against me, and told me that he had rolled high enough that I "had to believe him."

I have to agree with all of the above.

#1 in particular. If you toss about insults or threats ICly, you are declining the IC out. The PvP rules make that pretty clear, so don't bitch about it afterwards.

The charisma skills (bluff/intimidate/persuade/etc.) are for PC-NPC interactions, not player-player. I believe this has been stated numerous times, because that issue comes up semi-frequently. If someone rolls an intimidate check and says //ur scared now, laugh at them.

Well said, Wyjun.

Most players, (READ ALL) Have a major problem when it comes to 'Loosing'. You do not loose, you ...Change the course of Rp with a knockdown...

PnP spells I'll agree with. Grappling is a valid tactic that to my knowledge does not requiree OOC consent (so long as it's properly rolled out)

Problem is that, While grapple works fine, it doesn't in Wild-pvp.

Then the grappler will loose, and Blatantly scream "UNFAIR"; and declare the entire session as 'Invalid' ,because he was 'Grappling'.

Accept the boundaries of 'What is possible' at a given time, and you will be much happier.

If there were a suitable system for resolving it in combat-round time, I would agree. There isn't. If you try to kill me with a sword, that is resolved in-game by precisely one click of your mouse. If I fall over dead from sword wounds while I'm fumbling around with the "report my AC" dialog box, the best possible result is me trying to retroactively claim to have pinned you and rendered you unable to gash me to death with your sword. It's a recipe for starting fights OOC, not resolving them IC.

#5 If you come by, and raise a hostile PC, you are hostile to me too, and I will attack you.

Good news! Starting a grapple on a character lets them get an attack of opportunity against you, so if someone tries to grapple you, you actually have basis for just going to town on them with the game engine's combat system! Fuck you, dice-rollers!

Same with healing... if you run into a fight to heal someone you just got yourself involved in the fight.

Yes, but I am more referring to situations when the PvP is over, one or another lies dead on the floor and the "winners" do RP. Then suddenly a random person comes by, and raises the dead PC without any interaction. That makes me angry. In this case I just want to click hostile and obliterate without any interaction too, but thats against the rules, most certainly. DM?

You should know better, Wyjyn. Talk to DMs, don't make blanket statements on the boards.
