I just wanted do ask is it normal that my PM replies are stored in my Outbox and not in the Sent Messages folder? Right now I'm not quite sure whether they left my box or not.

They are stored in your outbox until the recipient reads them, at which point they get transferred to your sent messages folder. You should actually be able to edit and delete the message until it is read.
