Word begins to spread rapidly about the isle of an attack upon the normally peaceful town of Uhm. According to the rumors, the town was attacked by demons, or drow, or demonic drow. Or maybe a combination of the above. What is known is that there were many killed and wounded, and the idol of Istishia that was once in the town is now missing.

Furthurmore, it's obvious that the raiders took steps to prevent assistance from arriving at the settlement: before long, adventurers and other travellers have found the bodies of the cart drovers who were known to frequent the routes between Nexus Falls, Uhm, and Wharftown. The bodies have been neatly carved up by finely honed edged weapons, and the drivers' carts and oxen are nowhere to be found.

After making sure the Salandrans send someone to Uhm, Tuomas makes his way back to Cordor via portal, thoughtful and deeply concerned for Uhm's citizenry.

Daniel, upon hearing of this, wonders if the mayor of Uhm ever had a chance to put to use the sum of gold he donated to the city some time ago*.

In either case, he will change his patrolling routes from the Monastery to Bendir Dale, from the Monastery to Uhm.

//*If clarification is needed, DM Maias was the one who was there for this, one or two RL years ago.

Upon her arrival to Winya, Shalwyn meets Meldrium and Elyriel going to hunt the drow responsible for the attacks. But, being already busy with the mysteries that surrounds the Green Lake she let the two and the Hin with them to proceed and went to check on the ruins.

Many hours later, she had not heard of the two yet.

Calin, who lives in Uhm with Shae, was not present for this battle, but upon returning he begins immediatly helping his neighbours with the cleanup and recovery. Calin vows loudly at the top of his voice that he will hunt down and kill every demon and drow involved in this attack. His face is a stone state and his eyes thunder with anger. He storms off out the gates, immediatly in search of those who have harmed his home.

Hours after the battle had ended, Cynthia could still smell the demon-stench in the air. It made her want to vomit with every intake of breath. She had a vague memory of stepping out of the portal the night before, only to be surrounded by utter chaos. Demons and drow....everywhere. She barely had time to take that first glance around before she felt the swinging slash of a cruel blade at her back, over and over again. The next thing she knew, she was awakening to that same, abyssal stench, and a hin female standing over her, the remnants of a scroll crumbling in her hands.

With a soft groan, she opened her eyes. The few hours of rest she'd been able to get clearly hadn't been enough, and she felt like rolling right back over and falling asleep again. Still....if this was to be her home, she supposed she should start helping out with picking up the pieces of this little town and getting it back to some semblance of normality. With that in mind, she quietly slipped out of bed, got dressed, and limped her way out the door of her apartment in Uhm, nearly retching as she stepped outside, the demon stench being much more present where they had been concentrated. One glance around told her there was much work ahead, and the sooner things were started, the sooner they would be finished.

So with a sigh, she headed over to the nearest pile of rubble and rubbish, favoring her right knee heavily, and began helping to clear away the remnants of the attack, muttering under her breath in Infernal all the while....

Taelar, Sergeant of Cordor and recently a new resident of Uhm, is also out helping rebuild after the attack. He goes from place to place, offering solace and clearing away rubble so rebuilding can begin. Also, he occasionally can be seen forcing Cynthia to sit or lie down and take weight off her leg.

Word reaches Weston of Salandra's Temple and puts his mind in a light dizzy.

"That would be why I couldn't find carts, but!" Weston pats his head perplexed, having believed it had to do with incidents in the arachnid valleys.

Events happened the same day Weston went into Cordor and got to manage some other Temple affairs and personal affairs for the South Reconstruction. There had been some painful news, and a day after hearing of the events occured in Uhm, it becomes much heavier.

Darkness rests over Weston's moods for the day as he appeals in the Temple to arrange emergency assistance with the past good-will Salandra's Temple has had with the small sea town.

Nina turned out to have had quite the adventure with the Elder, his apprentice, and Qirlan... but alas they were unable to find the physical house of those responsible and barely escaped the Underdark with their lives.

Sometime after the attack, Sir Derryn de'Drenise is seemingly conducting an investigation on the behalf of the Triadic Knights. The aasimar paladin can be seen requesting testomonies of anyone present during the attack and is searching for anyone else who is investigating it.

She sat on the couch, birds singing -- a usually annoying sound that didn't bother her at all. Not now. Her armor still carried demon blood upon it and some of her own. Her crimson eyes shone for the leather and cloth portions also carried surfacer blood.

Taking a deep breath of the warm air she continued to write in her red leather journal. She added the three that her blade had tasted to her list. It was unfortunate she didn't have the time to search them more thoroughly. Perhaps she might find them and do things properly. After all she did have their blood...

A couple of days later, a shipment carrying Chairs, Stools and Tables arrive from Lemur's Monastery. With them, comes a human of tanned skin, messy dark brown hair reaching his shoulder and striking sky-blue eyes. He wears clothes in shades of blue, platinum, silver and grey.

There seems to be the mark of a perpetual scowl on his face, but it quickly disappears when he smiles, happily helping distribute the furniture he crafted with his son. He will also stay around to attend any further requests the residents might have concerning furniture, but would disappear from time to time to gather materials and resume crafting until the citizens are satisfied with what they have.

//OOC: I just crafted one chair, one stool and one table. If needed, I will happily craft more. I just did not make more of any because I did not find a PC supplier yet and the stock on the NPC merchants was low. :P

//EDIT: Noting I crafted couches, combat dummies and beds too. ^^;

A certain devil-kin tiefling can be seen in Uhm almost constantly, accepting donations from various people and stockpiling them together, sorting out the various supplies by type and severity of need. Of note, she can be seen going house to house in the village, passing out various healing supplies to each household and informing them that they were donated by Weston of the Salandran Temple. If it happens to be raining, a rather frequent occurence in Uhm, she can be seen offering magical aid against the inclement weather via wands, of which she tells those who accept that they were donated by a woman named Samantha.

Not once does she try to take credit for the donations, merely going about her task of distributing what goods she can to those who need them most, with promises of more help to come soon....

Weston enjoyed the brief conversations held under the awning of one of the storage sheds. He spoke with the devil-kin who was organizing donation distributions and two others where came by to contribute in some way. The conversation went over what was practical, what was possible, and what was hoped for.

It was good to see at least a small coalition of faces trying to bring help into Uhm. It was also a hope that more would be able to bring some sort of assistance. Weston took a few mental notes and rounded up a small quantity of clothes to get that started while the larger donation expected was prepared. He also found leather strings, patches, and hemp ropes that he figured would be useful in repair and creation of netting for the fishers.

Although he had to leave a bit hurried, Weston left the offer open he could help further with doing the footwork to gather and bring in supplies. He would have to check back in a few days to see how progress was. And remember to thank the certain devil-kin trying to pull the efforts together to be more effective in Uhm's recovery.

A large man in blue and silver armor and helm armed with a distinct gold-plated katana can be seen given informal but intense sparring lessons with any interested members of Uhm's militia or citizens thinking of joining the militia. He also offers lessons in basic tactics for the militia as a whole, so that they will be better trained and able to handle future attacks against the city. When not with them he can be seen assisting the devil-kin in distribution and counting of items.

A large number of blades, maces, morningstars, bows, arrows, and armors are supplied to the Uhm Militia. They are informed that they are purchased from Brogdenstein and are of fine dwarve quality and were donated by Miss Samantha. Furniture, and bandages are given out as well to those that need them, coming from the same source. Food and bedrolls are given to those that need them most, donated by a Miss Sorona.

When not crafting or distributing furniture, Daniel can be seen patrolling the perimeter of the city, just in case word of the attack suffered by the city and the weakened militia reaches the many creatures and thugs terrorizing the neighboring lands.

A Letter arrives to the Mayor of Uhm, sealed with the Golden Mark of Corellon Larethian. Another is also placed on the Noticeboard of the Township of Uhm

Mayor,

After helping defeat and close the portal that was opened by what is speculated to be the Tinnerai Dhaerow, I took the liberty of investigating the potential threat that your city faces. My name, as you may very well know, is Elder Meldrium Verafend, an Ar'Tel'Quessir of Winya Ravana and a revered mage upon this Isle. I, my apprentice, a Hin took to the Northern Winds of Frozenfar to pursue the Dhaerow.

With some perseverance through the chilling snows of Frozenfar we tracked the Dhaerow into the Underdark and investigated the city filled with Duergar. We ventured here as sources have indicated that the Tinnerai reside somewhere near the city of Duergar and other Underdark monstrosities. We took a path that led into a strange supply stash, occupied by humans clothed in black and gold. The exact same colours worn by the Tinnerai. Upon slaying the trivial, pathetic ranks of N'Tel'Quessir we found ourselves in a field over-run by these bandits. Whatever village was once occupied there was now blanketed in ash, small flames and tents housing these pirates. In the distance, toward the ocean, we spotted the Crow's Nest of four large ships. We fought our way to through the overrun village to find that these ships were large enough, and that these humans were desperate enough to accomodate the Dhaerow in over-taking Uhm.

Why your Guards did nothing to prevent the Dhaerow from opening the portal in your city, I do not know - But I compel you to investigate your corrupt citizens on that matter. Furthermore - there were a great many pirates, and their storage facility linked directly to the Underdark that would inevitably offer trade of weapons, great weapons as I discovered to the Tinnerai Dhaerow. It is necessary that your township win the favour of the great many affiliations, orders and guilds amongst this Isle and strike directly at that Bay housing those pirates.

Alternatively, I order you, in return for my services helping the return of your two supply ships, the capture of a villainous, albeit idiotic pirate, and the closing of the portal that you ensure a strong military defence in Uhm. Your town is weak, and the lack of acknowledgement in that is at the detriment of the entire Isle.

If any take Uhm, then it is a hop, skip and a jump for the weaker Wharftown, and from there the entire Western Coast of Amia is seized and will allow shipments of soldiers to enter the Isle untouched.

I care not for your township, not for the N'Tel'Quessir - but for the welfare of the Isle. It is up to you to do something, therefore take responsibility for the position you are in.

~Elder Meldrium Verafend

P.S. I advise you to also consider erecting a statue in my honor.

Recently a man in blue and silver armor can be seen working with a pair of men from the Uhm Militia, their weapons and armor shinier and newer than their old equipment, in an open space near the farming fields in the southern portion of Uhm. At first he appears to be sparring with them, critiquing their individual fighting styles and offering pointers on how to improve themselves. He rarely raises his voice or becomes overly harsh in his criticisms as he does so, acting more like a schoolteacher than a drill instructor. After a few hours of instruction in sparring and individual combat he begins working on teaching the pair to fight together. First he teaches them to use their shield and weapons to cover each other against a single opponent, how to move in combat while remaining back to back and covering your partner, and other techniques best applied to defense. Then he moves on to joint attacks against single targets, teaching them how to distract an opponent while the other strikes and vice versa, similar to the way wolves function in the wild to bring down larger prey. He lets them practice this some on himself.

This continues for several days in sequence, then for two days the three men are not seen in the field. On the third day however, the man in blue and silvery steel has returned, but now he has a new pair of apparent students, going over the same routine with them for several days before again there is a break, and then he returns again with new students. In this manner, the entire militia of Uhm winds up going through this training. After wards, he can be seen sporadically sparring or discussing lessons with the various members he has been teaching.

Everyday, when he wakes up Daniel walks all the way from Lemur Monastery towards Uhm.

He has no intention of fighting the creatures around the city, but he does so in self-defense. Naturally, he would rather try reasoning with them, but he does not do that, since apparently they are only protecting their own territory and, apparently, they are not aware of what happened to the city.

Either way, the cursed dragon simply means to make sure he is keeping those creatures at bay so they will not gather courage to attack the city, taking advantage of its currently weakened state. He walks the perimeter of the city, and when done he also walks towards Wharftown and then all the way to Cordor, passing through the Delta, knowing well that region's history of attacks by drow and Banites.
