Lost Spells
by Arronax Sulvanim
-------------------------

Previous lost and forgotten spells, taken by the sands of time. Here gathered from tattered spellbooks and anicent scrolls. The ones I've managed to gather enough information on, for possible future use are listed below, alphabetically.

Deranged Dweomer
Circle: 6th
School: Enchantment
Components: material only
Range: one item or creature
Duration: 120 seconds
Save: unknown(no information present)
Spell resistance: unknown(no information present)

This potent spell can transform a creature or object into one of the following:
1. a mob of angry hippos
2. a potion of healing
3. a book full of calculus problems
4. bundle of flowers
5. 1d20 cheap gems
6. a ten ton box, full of pie
there seem to be more options, but the rest of the information on this spell seem to be lost to time. If it is to ever be used again, it will have to be re-invented.

The material needed is a lump of clay.

Missile Blast
---------------------------
Circle: 7th
School: Evocation(force?)
Components: verbal, somatic, material
Range: 10 feet/power of the caster
Area of Effect: 15 feet radius
Duration: instantaneous
Save: dodging and evasion (reflex)
Spell resistance: half only

Upon casting this spell the caster sends a magic missile that is charged to explode at the target. When this missile hits, it causes harm, based from the power of the caster. (2 per CL) and explodes outward. Showering the area with pure magical energy. This energy does minor (1d4+2) damage to everything within the area of effect, unless evaded or dodged (save for 1/2 damage). Any being with magic resistance get a chance to use that resistance at half the normal power, because of the tremendous energy used.

The amount of energy used during this spell, causes the caster to risk loosing all spells in their memory. The material component for this spell, is a lock of hair from a nymph.

Fiends - for leymen
by Arronax Sulvanim
-------------------------

A fiend is an evil creature from one of the Fiendish Planes. They are not just evil, but born of Evil; primal malevolence is one of the roots of their nature, and the evil essence of the fiendish planes permeates every part of their bodies.

The four different main archetypes of fiends are as follows:

Demons; Chaotic fiends, native to the Abyssal layers. Tanar'ri, are the dominant subspecies.

Devils; Devils follows strict and confusing laws, that hail from the Nine hells of Baator. Baatezu are the dominant subspecies.

Yugoloths; Less known than the two first archetypes, they stand between the chaotic demons and the law abiding devils. And inhabit the Blood Rift.

Demodands; Also known as gehreleths, they are said to have been fashioned by one of the primal creations of evil. But later exiled for their chaotic taint. They dwell in the Supreme Throne mainly, and Tarterus.

The two main archetypes, and their main subspecies: Tanar'ri and Baatezu are the most common and known of fiends. Their war have been raging for an age, and in the middle are the Yugoloths. Whom serve mainly as mercenaries for either one, when it serves their purpose. When you are approached or approach a fiend, regardless of species and archetype, be on guard at all times. As creatures born of primal evil, they serve no cause but their own. Identifying what type of fiend you are dealing with, is a matter of experience, as many can look similar if they have taken more common forms. In all likelihood you will be facing either a Tanar'ri or a Baatezu. The rest of the Fiend subspecies and types are less active on the prime in the recent years, and have dwindled in numbers since before 0 DR. The largest army since then to include fiends, was the Army of Darkness, whom defeated Myth Drannor.

Undead - for leymen
by Arronax Sulvanim
-------------------------

Undead is a term that collectively refers to once-living creatures which have been animated by spiritual or supernatural forces.
All undead have a wide array of immunities.. including immunity to mind alteration spells, or any form of external mental influence (with the exception of the command undead spell). They are immune to poison, paralysis, diseases, death magic, and of course negative energy spells. Also, no longer dependent on their organs, it is impossible to score a deadly blow, or strike their weak spots.

There are six basic ways a living creature can be turned to undeath:
Purposeful personal reanimation - This is where a living creature willing undergoes the transformation to undeath. In most cases the creature will already be evil, but this is not always the case. The most common reasons a creature seeks undeath are: fear of dying of old age, fear of dying from a wound and power.
Minions - This is where an intelligent creature creates undead creatures to serve their own ends. Undead are often used as guards. Evil spellcasters often create hordes of undead to do their bidding.
Atrocity - This is where a creature commits a evil, heinous act and is transformed into an undead creature. Not every such act results in undead creation and it is completely random. It's common enough for evil creatures to become undead this way, but anyone who commits a evil enough act can become undead because of it, after their death.
Unfinished Business - This is where a creature dies or is killed with an important deed left undone. Not every creature with such a need results in them becoming undead and it is completely random. Any intelligent creature, of any alignment can become undead in this way.
The Dark Curse - This is where the evil forces simply create undead at random. This can happen to any creature, anywhere and at anytime.
Death by wounds caused by another undead - Most forms of undead will cause their victim to become one of their type by causing a mortal wound. This is common in ghouls and vampires. This can affect a creature of any alignment. For this reason, experienced and unexperienced adventurers should carry antidote and restoration potions at ALL TIMES.

The three main types of Undead are as follows: Skeletal, Corporeal and Incorporeal.
Skeletal undead are rather straightforward, animated bones from various creatures and sources.
Corporeal undead, are undead that still retain organs and other bodily traits that were used in life. Zombies, Ghouls, Ghast, Mummies and Vampires are examples of Corporeal undead.
Incorporeal undead, are undead spirits that have no physical form. Because of this they can present a large and dangerous threat to people that lack magic or magic enchanted items. Normal weapons will not work on these. Ghosts, Shadows, Wraiths and spectres are examples of Incorporeal undead.

Unity and Diversity
by Arronax Sulvanim
--------------------------

For as long as I can remember, existance have been contemplated on by scholars and loremasters. Thousands upon thousands of theories have been suggested, brushed aside and accepted, all depending on whom the listener is. Within these pages lie my belief. A belief which I were brought up to understand and grasp.

Toril itself lie in several different places, all with their own function. The prime material plane is where we are now, unless someone have moved this book. It is where the five creator races molded the world to be thousands of years ago. Toril's splendor spreads over other planes as well. The shadow plane, mirrors it in part. As do the astral plane.

All the planes, including the seven heavens of Celestia and the nine pits of hell are all connected. Every single one of them fit together in co-existance, as different features on a great beeing. This beeing, is existance itself.

Everything here is balanced flawlessly. There is a plane for everything that have ever been thought of or needed. All play an equal part in existance, just as order and chaos does. And just as good and evil does. Even indifference plays it's own important part here.

Where life springs up, eventually it must die off in time. When the world were too abundant with magic, and cities floated in the skies, balance had to be restored. And so great cities came crashing down, as the quest for magic reached it's peak.

When a land lies oppressed by an evil warlord, in time things will be balanced out and an era of peace be rung in upon the shoulders of a savior. When a land lies bathed in beauty, bounty and food, eventually it's splendors are desired by others. And so wars come and wash over the beauty until it lies destroyed. This cycle have gone on for time immemorial, and it will continue for all of existance. It lies at the very core of existance, like the beating of a heart to keep it from growing stale and die off.

When you look at all of this, one at a time, it is little different than examening the eye, skin or lips of a person. You see the lips, you can study the lips. You can even master them, in every way you can imagine and think to be truly wise. But it is only when you look at the whole creature, the whole of existance.. that you can truly understand their function, and see how well they work.

All of existance fit together perfectly in one single beeing. Existance itself. Every single aspect of diversity that can ever be desired, play out here. All all lie united in the fabrics of existance.

And just as life have sprung and ran wild for thousands of years, and just as existance sparked and blossomed. So will it eventually wither and die off, to leave a lifeless void. Because even in it's final moments, balance must be held.

If one observe history or have been lucky enough to live it, you will see a distinct pattern in it all. Where once the creator races once ruled all of Toril, so are they on a decline. Except my people, for we never lay claim. Where once there were wars amongst the gods, and their powers nearly tore Toril itself apart, so were their powers taken from them and forced away to their own planes. All people that have risen to great power, have lost it to the trials of time. And in the corners of Toril where life seems most lacking, it flows under the surface.

No matter how many new planes are discovered by arcanists. No matter how many new spells, cities, kingdoms, armies and gods that rise. The balance of existance will some day level it, and make things restored on the balance between all of the forces that drive life as we know it.
