I thought the book was to be taken as a guide line only, at best. Not cannon lore. Which is why I haven't used it as such, but to more steer and mold my two fey's personalities.
If the book was nothing but BS, I don't imagine I would have gotten a special class from that book approved for one of my chars.
Just take it with several grains of salt.
Besides, as long as the chars are saying it all IC, it doesn't matter if it's true or not. It could be some sort of giant fey delusion of grandure, no one can prove them wrong anyway... not really.

they do it like viruses: They infect living creatures with their magical essence, then in 1d4 days a swarm of feys burst from underneath the skin of the victim, killing it instantly.
then the fey go and giggle around "innocently"
