Leggomi, I love your character even more with the background Phantom so kindly provided. Maybe I am not the right example, though. I can spot a tiny bit of cheesiness in "Bustier Cassanova d'Attentourt", I must confess.
I do not take character creation very seriously as well, I just go for something funny. It's not the name or the race or the stats that matter much, I feel, it's what you do with your character.
I also feel that somebody who says that his roleplay is destroyed because he read a biography that didn't suit his taste is a bit strange anyway. It's so obviously an OOC medium that blaming a Bio for that is like blaming the Entry for being an OOC area.
My advice is just to give positive comments on a Bio you do like and forget the ones you do not fancy. Amia is big because we are not that uptight, but do care about a base level of IC compliance. The gray area in between is for each player to explore, withotu getting falk from his peers.
I'm surprised nobody commented on Gard Mennemen (many men), especially once I started with the whole multiple personality skit. Oh well, funny what people don't notice.
I've noticed a few odd names knocking about that made me do a double-take (one guy on earlier today whose name is all in caps, and whose familiar's name is a bible reference... Genesis 2:19 or something?) but unless it's glaringly obvious I'm a bit oblivious.
Way back in the day, the party I was in were getting mauled outrageously by the final boss in the Mylock dungeon. Corpses as far as the eye could see! We had progressed through the dungeon at a brisk pace, and one of our chars had been confronted by something in the shadows several times. Nobody really understood what was going on, so we just continued merrily along until we got thrashed by the final boss. At that time, Leggomi revealed himself and saved the day. THUS, HE MAKES THE WORLD A SAFER PLACE!
In addition, Leggomi once sold those full-healing potions in Cordor under the guise of... I think it was Trash jars? They cost MUCH less than those bought by that Priest of Torm in the adjacent temple. THUS, HE MADE THE WORLD A HEALTHIER PLACE! I saved a bucketload on my dental coverage alone!
And lets face it, Eggos make a damned good part of a balanced breakfast. You cant go wrong!
As a former DM, I would actually reward people for coming up with clever names that were spin-offs of something in our modern society. Leggomi is a perfect example. You roleplay him excellently and his biography is very, very amusing. I don't have a problem with him in the least, even knowing it's a reference to Eggo's. The only things I have a problem with are people who make tasteless names such as "Cannabis" the other day, which was a direct reference to weed.

Thanks for the support, but I can understand; and I can't say I completely dissagree with, the reasoning here. Looking back I probably should have been a bit more serious in my charachter creation. I am going to have a Bio Change; as I hadn't anything to write about before hand. But as my primary charachter for about 4 months; it's a little late to change the entire name. I may think of something later. Ah well.

First time i saw the name i read it a few times shakeing my head, my first thought was. "Oh boy another stupid named char" then i ran into lego and was surprised by his roleplay, like he himself didnt realise his name was so silly, none the less he certainly earned the right to demand his egos back via name XD

Not just that, Ganja Cannabis. Amia has its own drug reference with the Perfectly Legal Pipe Herbs, of course, but what kind of name for a roleplaying character is that?
Does this rule still stand about displaying Titles bestowed upon characters, and about displaying Ranks whithin Factions?

No titles, such as "King Philip" or "Son of Ilmater". Pretty much anything that describes things you cannot know about a person by just looking at them (job, education, demeanor, status) is unnecessary and may result in metagaming, and is thus not allowed. The suffixes given to faction members (for example the Cordor Guards) are an exception to this rule, but the title will not describe a rank, however, just the faction you are part of. Names should mislead people OOC on purpose.
Yes, the rule stands. There are some DM approved exceptions, of course.

Of course. Anyone, faction leader or not, can request one.
Not everyone will get one. But the criteria are up to the DMs. I would suppose fame, a history of dedication and achievements play into it, as well as PC and/or NPC recognition of the status.

...He showed us how in the Banite Church it is a common title for someone of his station. I bitched because it kind of muddied what I was trying to do with titles... But overruled...
A dm when asked about why he was given a title. So the precedes would be that you simply need to prove that the title is one that would be recognized in Faerun and that your toon qualifies.
I see a lack of link in your post and a lack of "Lorein" ever having been logged into the server, a lack of your IP ever interacting with Amia outside the forums and no mention of anything even similar to that account in game.
We told you you could read the forums Valas, and not post, and the only reasons you're not banned is because I had half a hunch you might actually have changed, but it seems you are still content to spin words and try to garner even half an ounce of support from a community that does not want you around, for being a stalking obssessive internet creper. The other reason is because frankly it's easier to track you when you're being an idiot on one account than it is to keep banning 50 new account when you make them over and over. After this I am sure you will go make a new account and it will start all over again.

As much as I like my (self-appointed ) title, I wouldn't want to walk around with "Xaviera Xuider-Xee, High Priestess of Sharess in All of Amia" floating over my head.

Personally I'm more concerned with the appearance every now and then of obvious cannon names that such seemt o get allowed. Used to have an Elf walk around with the name Feanor, one called Cuthalion, a necromancer called Richard and a theif called Piter de Vries.
Personally I've noted a increase in female barbarians and am just waiting to see the name Sonja (Red Sonja) come along.
And as for Big Red... Well one of my characters has a half orc friend she calls Big Blue, but that isn't his actual name. Though Ihave to say that orcs being generally stupid would be more likely to come up with such a name. In general I am noticing more and more people that don't have names but discriptions or self given titles in their names.
If there's a name that you know to be a canon name, feel free to point it out. Not every DM has read every FR novel and knows each and every canon name, so those don't always get noticed.

Hang on, what's wrong with Richard? It's a common name.

Well to be honest the examples I've named I haven't seen online in a few months. As for the Necro called Richard, only saw him about for a month or so.
Just wanted to point the issue out. not a few players.
I would be surprised is Azoun, Elminster, Eltargrim, Piergeiron, Alustriel, Torm and Kelemvor weren't common names. That's exactly how names become popular: after someone famous. It isn't coincidence that different versions of Maria, Muhammed, Fatima, John (Jack) and Jesus are incredibly popular regardless of the century in question.

I agree with Iron, for similar reasons - people name children after other famous people, especially religious figures. Matthew, Mark, Luke and John are all very common names in real life.

This could open some interesting Rp possibilities... Would the characters try to follow their namesakes, or rebel? Could make some good characters, but I'd be a bit hesitant to encourage this, as the last thing I'd want to see on Amia is swarms of extremely similar characters with variations on the same name.

I freaked out when I saw this.. because of the names on the first page.. I was slightly and still am tipsey but...
I would love to be able to have names of mortals turned gods adn such.. and Azoun and such, also think you shoudl be able to claim tio be king azouns illigmate child. >.> since he had like a thousand of them.. he's the FR version of gangis khan

It wouldn't be a problem if people RP'd just another character who shares name with someone famous, but they tend to use the name because they want to RP that famous character instead.
