Eh. Okey... I admit, I'm drunk. And I don't understand why I can't get on Amia. When I try to log on it says

"Could not load the Module. Missing requied custom tak table. "amia_tlk.tlk".

HELP!!!!

Did you download the new haks? if not, go to "Amia Hak" in the sidebar.

http://www.amiaworld.net/hak/

and then do this.

The files in the archives need to be placed in the proper folders: the .hak files go in the /hak/ folder of your NWN installation and the .tlk file goes in the /tlk/ folder. If you can't find a /tlk/ folder in the root of your NWN installation** you will have to make one yourself. I assume that you know how to deal with segmented archives if you download the last option.

I have been looking at some numbers and the HAK has a rather dramatic effect on the influx of new players. On the other hand, I didn't expect us drawing 80 new players a week, so the 40 we draw now is still a pleasant surprise. Characters used and play hours stay the same, btw.

Anyway, does anybody have a good idea how to lower the treshhold for new players? I updated the server description, moved some of the sidebar links around, and changed the first page.

We're going to eat some loss just by virtue of using a hak, no matter how low we set the bar, I think. no other suggestions than what you made.

Make it simplier. Remove the options, take away the self installer, only allow one download, the .Rar one. Add a detailed readme. You're giving to many choices with many bad variables on those choices. If you make it so the player has only one choice, they will be less confused.

Downside being I can't do jack diddles with a .Rar anymore last I ever had to check. And for people who know enough on different zip types will know which to take.

Now a detailed read-me that examples one could probably be duplicated to ajust "use your winrar" and "use your 7zip" and "use your so-on" for the styles.

Just my feeling on it.

Frankly if we have the multiple choices as clearly marked "pick the one you work with for zip files, these are all identical" I would hope the player truely curious is going to ask on the forums for help or know what they need to do already. If they won't do either than maybe they don't want to play a server with HAK and that's just going to be it.

I probably could get rid of the rar version. The 7zips have a big bonus and that's their small size, and zip is handy because everybody can use it. The self-installer works for many people... and if it works it's really the best option.
