Well, while fighting some Phearlock I decided to rest. As a little wizard I'm nothing without my spells and summons to protect me. So I'm ambushed, My familiar is killed. I use expeditious retreat to GTFO and what happens... ... I'm killed by a trap I disarmed earlier. That was an interesting, funny, and infuriating at the same time experience. Anyone else got any funny mishaps like this?

Fighting the Fire Giant King, I killed him the split second after he finished casting Implosion. Those familiar with Implosion know there's about a second or two of time to get an attack in between you failing your fort save and you actually dying.

I dev'ed the King, then rolled a 1 and died myself.

The DM watching me told me he dropped loot. :(

This was before the cheesy, and altogether absolutely lame "respawn where you died". Back when Respawn put you back at your bindpoint and there was no "takke me back where I teleported from."

That and the two way light needs to go.

Methinks that should be removed, by the way. As for the two-way lights ... removing those would discourage people joining parties that are already running, methinks.

And thats a bad thing? Its metagaming to the enth degree bringing in party ballers etc that way. I do it myself and would have no complaints if the two way light was removed, encouraging people to meet up in Cordor etc to RP before going out.

Also: Does electrocuting your entire party to death while running across the Gauntlet bridge count? ...if you get across unharmed?

Cleric in my team made us wait for about 15 minutes while he buffed himself up for fire giants. Whole time we bitched and complained. Finally get underway, he runs in all cocky as hell, fire giant dev's him in one hit.

I couldn't stop laughing.

My Best (worst) death came from Kjetta spawning 3 ASB's consecutively on me, and when I dispatched them all he lined the cliffsides with those Ice ball hurling gargoyles. . .

All to advance a plot i believe with a plot item i knew nothing about at that point which was in the care of my characters wife.

During the Nesek Crusades, there were so many incident involving my traps. One such time, I set a deadly or epic eletric trap with the intent to kill a certain individual. Said person never came, however someone else entirely unrelated walked came through (in my defence, they should not of been there! :<). Fortunately, they managed to pass their reflex save and were not harmed. Unfortunately, the eletric trap bounced and killed our party mage in one shot.

I don't use eletric traps when accompanied by large groups anymore >_>

Here's one Lally may remember:

Reminded me of the time a certain nameless elven rogue of mine was 'protecting' a damsel in distress.. from escaping with the rest of the FLAG members there.

He did a wonderful job. So wonderful in fact when the traps sprung it killed half of the highwaymen.

So much for first impressions.

I do not remember with which of my characters, probably my former priest of Vhaeraun, or someone else able to buff oneself.

Either way, I went to the Gauntlet once. My spells and painful slow walk finally compensated for I got to the end of the bridge with traps without spare spells but buffs still up, and a full (if not average) hp.

One of the many areas had poison gas as a trap, that acting like an area spell broke my GS and I ran like hell trying to avoid the spawns after leaving one clueless summon behind to distract them. The poison almost killed my PC, but he passed his fortitude tests.

I went all the way there for the merchant and knew of the trap by the door through previous incursions with a group, and used my familiar to trigger the trap so I could enter.

Except I forgot to keep my PC at a safe distance.

The other situaton, I know everyone went through it at least once in their Amian life: soloing one super tough boss. You killed it when your HP is below ten.

And you are killed afterwards because your Endurance spell/potion wore off...

Ah, yes. That is a classic!

And saving your most powerful spell (be it Sorcerer, Wizard, Paladin, or Cleric) for the super-toughboss, but after you rested you swapped your gear and lost exactly that spell slot.

Only noticing you lost said spell, of course, when you got to the boss.

Best death would have to be the first time I played Sain. I was around level 5 and got into PvP with a dwarf and human in the skull crags. They beat the (Beep) out of me in about five seconds flat, whereupon they begun to celebrate. My Feaver (Fever? Ferver? Not sure.) amulet kicked in, I regenerated from -8 or so HP, and stood up after a few seconds. They saw me, and proceeded to beat the (beep) out of me again. This went on about four or five times before they finally got Sain down for good.

One of my favorite Rp memories. :) Now I make sure to have at least +1 regen on all my characters, and more if possible.

In the Gauntlet, I had everyone waiting for me right before opening the door to the shop because I shomehow kept getting bigbyed right after I turned a corner. *bigby-mord's, try to run, get bigbyed again-mord's, get bigbyed again...sigh*

I was bored one day with Xal, I decided to try and burn down Bendir with my torch. A DM was on, I think it was James or Robert, possessed a road guard who ended up having a conversation with Xal about how he was underpaid and how the guard oppertunites where great over in Tarkuul. He disappeared for a bit, Xal went back to burning, about 5 minutes later the guard turns up as an undead skeleton claiming that he left due to it not working out, something about difference in understanding the contract.

Then by some mysterious reasoning Xal's torch became embued with power and turned into "The Torch of Bendir Burning" capable of burning through wood, brick, paper and aspetious, or something along those lines. I still have it xD.

As I was using my lovely Tiefling that everyone loves, Jarden the Barbarian, fighting with a good group of party members in the Yuan-ti temple, we came across two spawns being left opened up with none other than misses Babylon standing there, fully buffed up to the max like a rugby player on steroids and drank ten cups of coffee. What do we do? We hit her of course, and end up annoying her a wee bit which caused the chase of Babylon to Jarden, non-stop for probably around five minutes while the rest of my party skipped happily along like lovely schoolgirls arm in arms as they massacred the other Yuan-ti spawns.

The bright side was that I was still getting XP, the bad part was that the single whack from Babylon's spear knocked every single touche' piece of buffs off me which then caused me to get my ass kicked later on because I ran out of rages, but luckily, after around ten more server minutes of running around, she finally despawned! Yippee! But of course I wasted enough crappy health gear that I was so annoyed at the party members when they didn't leave me any loots, the horrible people. *Sniffle.* Atleast I learnt that Babylon is alot tougher than she was in the past. 3:

And let's not forget the points where we use the wrong gems that are for the temple, and the ones that can be sold in that place. >.> Awkward.

I once accidently hurt a shadowflame gaurd, on10hp which resulted in me running around unbuffed from the entire NPC gaurd force. Back in the day of the huge shadowflame mansion. I managed to cast haste outrun and portal to cordor thinking I would be safe.

For some reason outside the temple was 2 law knights, who also seemed to be hostile. So I end up having to run away from them for around ten minutes, cant exactly kill the gaurds because they are immune to damage. I wasnt smart enough to heal yet and suddenly realise why dont I GS and ask for DM assistance.

I spammed the channel for a while and my GS ran out, every gaurd in site ran at me from all directions and I was brutally cut to shreds. First few months on amia where a real learning curve lol.

In my first day on Amia I got tricked to enter the Underdark as a crappy ranger. The drow summoned a dragon on our ass.

Raziel and a level 20ish party took on the Fire Giant royals. We all sucked and ran around like headless chickens so after a while another king and queen spawned. Curtains down...

Another time there was some hilarity involving a Raziel + Uberuce combo (paladin + bard) getting paralyzed and feared respectively so we could watch each other die, possibly Manor of Mourn.

Actually, that's not true. Ramika knows.

Anyway. Funny moment...

Well. The first one that springs to mind is I got the bright idea to try and Solo the Gauntlet with my cleric, Im'kiira. Now, mind you, she has noooooo disable trap or whatnot. At all. I got through everything and bolted across the traps.... about half way. Where I died.

Somehow, Kiira stabilized and I got back up... so I healed massively, and bolted across the rest of the traps.

Somehow, she managed to get all the way to the Shopkeeper without dying again. I still haven't figured that one out yet.

Another one with Kiira was an Abyss Run with Garoujin and Uberuce. They were helping me level her and we did a Windy run. We killed Windy, and excitingly enough, I got a Flawless Mythal.

Then the server crashed.

I lost 5000xp and a Flawless mythal. :(

Oh yes.

Im'kiira, Decandiel, and Phenwick - Actand.

Apparently, we weren't as prepared for our hunt as we thought. I was completely unaware of the Greater Sanctuary nerf at the time, so when Phenwick and Decandiel dropped, I threw up GS and summoned my dragon to try and distract the devils/demons/whatever long enough for me to raise my two compatriots...

Uh. Yeah. Everything saw me and I died. :(

I wish I would have known that GS had been changed -ahead- of time. I didn't read the forums carefully enough or something.

Oh, another good one was portalling into Amia Forest during a drow fight, I think. I can't remember. Lyaera said, "This isn't where I parked my cart..." and ran. Luckily, I didn't die.

Bad luck you say? Alright:

During one fine eve of RP in the forest with some of the usual chaps, at the time, and a few common visitors, I was hanging around on Willow, when all of a sudden I misclick and make an earthquake spell go off. I hit a few of the PC's and, to my surprise, a few trees in the forest fall over. It was pretty funny, actually. ^.^

Uhg, I'm sure I can't think of anything because it's painful enough I don't want to remember.

Although, EVERY time I'm at the Fire Giants boss with Weston (and always with a party of course) I'm caught in the acid-lightning rain. Sure, no big deal...

Except I tend to miss the 1st or 2nd reflex and get shot like hell by the lighntning strike. To this day I have NEVER recovered from the stun it causes without dying, even if I keep making the proceeding reflex saves to cut down the damage I take.

Maybe no more than three times I've noticed the lightning storm soon enough to actually get out before it starts shooting. Otherwise it literally is the perfect anti-Weston spot.

I have one for a PC I shouldn't name  Lets just say when Weston was assassinated, a very powerful and str-based fighter who just took him down failed a Str-roll with a Natural 1. And failed to lop off Weston's head to which to claim the assassination reward.

.... And then a 2nd assassin showed up, killed the first guy, and I have forver been so proud of Roger Rays for that success! And will never let the other forget about that Natural 1 to where their ax was stopped by the vertibrae in the neck on a strength build.

Electric Castle. Recently.

Tailor did wander in, just looking to have some fun,
but my oh my, that's nay how positively his course did run.
Mindblank potion, he was ready to go,
but he never factored Lady Luck, that crusty old hoe.

The pot went out as he reached an aura of fear,
he rolled a one, and to death came near.
He killed the mobs, healed up, buffed, went on his way,
again, Lady Luck like Phearnun, was so very, very gay.

He got to the lich in the end, jumped on him from HiPS,
but pile of douchebag bones, rasped words from his lacking lips.
Deathspell, and yay, another one,
quick closure, to Tailor's fun.

Fugue plane awaited, but Tailor is smart,
always keep regenerative items to heart,
he teleported back, to where he was killed,
and when the battle re-ensued, he was absolutely thrilled!

Untill, that is, in came the face,
of Lady Luck again, that flabby old disgrace.
Another deathspell, another one,
that bitch just kept ruining his fun!

So I, the player, simply gave up,
I just wanted to have fun, but what the fuck.
At least I made The OneWon's day,
by telling him of my misfortune, in the CAPS way.

You can ask him, he got the details.

Oh, do plots count?

Someone get Corimar in here to tell the story about the time Torin turned Icingdeath Lawful Good....

Isn't that the same incident in which Torin became....was it CE?

This unfortunate event has happened to me twice.
While gathering the bones to summon Max (back then the Wights were accompanied by a group of Trapped Souls, not just one) a lucky Trapped Soul managed to roll a 20 on its petrification touch attack and Tom rolled a 1 on the Fort save.

Death and much cursing ensued.

I think for my elf.. it was the result of three failed strength rolls in a row.. which is a bad enough by itself.. but even worse when you're big beefy wm telling the wizards to back off and let the muscle do the hard working.

For Karl.. there's quite a few things with him. Possible the worst being the desperate chatter whenver I get into forest of dispair and need help to find out again. Or when he failed a fear test for a dragon and had some rather unfortunate consequences for his reputation in winya.

Lomir, on Gehenna, as part of a plot with Robert. After the party of world-saving heroes collected some nifty diamonds from the ground, a giant one fell from above, right over Lomir's head. Numerous times before, Lomir has avoided death/saved the day because of his good saves. I rolled reflex.

I got a 1. Lomir died by diamond. Humiliating.
