Often when I am in a party, my character can't stop staring at another character if they are standing in my character's line of sight unless I mouse over another object. Sometimes this also happens when I am around characters who are not in my party. Does anyone know why this is?
I didn't post this in the bugs board because this happens in other modules too, so it's not an Amia problem.

It's naturally incorporated into the game. It's not really a bug or anything wrong, it was just added in by Bioware to make it feel more "real" I suppose.
And AFAIK, it only appears that your character is staring at others on your comp. To other players, it merely seems that they're staring at you intsead and your PC is looking straight ahead. NPC's on the other hand will automatically look in the direction of the nearest thing to them as well.

I prefer Ghost in the Shell actually.
Cyborgs. Machine guns. Well-endowed cyborg women with machine guns...
No, this does not pertain to the topic.

Your char looks automatic to another PC that is saying something in the talk channel, nothing you can do about.

I know that PCs and NPCs turn their head to the speaker, but I am asking about why my PC's head is always oriented towards someone in their 180-degree line of sight when the pointer is not on an object or no one is speaking.

Likely a game mechanic issue, but also most likely can only be seen from your end of the screen.

I believe you can see it from other people's screens (I'm quite sure I managed to get one of my friend's char to follow my character when I first discovered this on the NPCs).

It's just one of those fancy "new" things, when NWN was out. I'm fairly sure that sort of automatic head movement hadn't been done before when it came out. Just like how the grass bends when you walk trough it.
It's one of those things that are just too funny about NWN. Love is in the tiny details, that no one notices.
Also, in response to Dark Immolation: Tachikoma rules.

Yes, I was rather amused when I discovered that outside Winya ... the elven guard's head was following me so I spent twenty minutes entertaining myself by walking around him and making him look.

I thought this was distinctively only seen on your own screen. As I've stood where NPC guards will look at you, but to PC's, and their heads won't follow me.
I've seen over 8 PC's around a table, where mine is looking at the one the next chair over but the rest all just sit straight looking across to infinity.
I think you PC head direction of looking is you only. NPC heads I think I've seen look at whomever is nearby or if somebody talks you can see them all look over and that is across screens.

It's only on your screen, otherwise my Shadowdancer would have been caught way way more times than he was, hiidng and whispering to people in meetings.

It's actually related to Cha. If you got a high score all PCs around you will stare at you. If you got a very low score as well, btw.

Thought it was related to "Skin to Cloth" ratio.

Solution: Look away from the monitor for at least 15 minutes for every hour that you play. Open a window and do a little stretching if you feel tense.

I am now officially confused whether these two comments are jokes or actual game mechanics. If a joke, I vote we find some way to add these in.

For Science, Vesad shall strut around Cordor in the skimpiest loincloth he can find.
Heads will turn for sure. Unfortunately, some of these heads will belong to furious and aroused guards.

...I'm dead serious about my NWN mate.

Furious and aroused? That doesn't sound like a good combination of emotions at all.
Like a badger or something.
