random crashing at transition to Various interiors from underdark cave.
Not the first time this happens to me in Hak mod. I can't seem to reproduce this at will though.
I have a file AR_ERROR.log created at crash time which contains this :
Code:
Names Differ: tts_UDOOR_08 tts_udoor_10

Items :
Chair and Shovel can't be used by a gnome. (size is large ?)

'bar stuff' : (male) and (female) used to be different ? both could probably be resized a bit smaller.

I confirm flying between stonehenge, new house and cart placeables.

"desert tent" placeable (in front of the large purple tent) : a tall PC has his head sticking above the texture (not solid).

one-hander and two-hander spears could be differentiated a bit possibly ? They work fine though.

In the desert II, the door you come out of and the entire transition is slightly floating off the ground, it might be either the building itself, or that its on one of those new hills.

Trying it on a slower computer of mine, the creature room with the Dynamic models gets a huge lag spike as you enter.

Yes, I still keep getting this lag spike.

I did not mention before because, as I said on previous posts, my graphic card is awful, so, I thought it was only my problem.

It's not that weird. There is a massive amount of models in those rooms.

Will take a look at the shield and door issue.

I updated the haks. If you already downloaded you just need this small file:

http://www.amiaworld.net/hak/amia_a.zip

Mind that I also updated the 11 parts archive. If you were downloading parts and didn't finish before this post you'll have to start again.

This fixes the shield and makes some new items smaller so garden gnomes can also use them.

The other issues I can't fix.

M'kay, I've scanned through this thread, if im right...the Haks are ready?

I/m not really good with haks, it was hard for me to do those overrides lol

Be possible if someone could PM the links and directions of what to do maybe? I'd really like to see these in game ^^

Hey Disco I am not sure if you plan on including a simple installer or something(Or already have, way to many pages to read through). It would be fairly easy to create that all PC users could run.

Add in a Batch file with code that checks their nwn pathway for override/hak folders and add them if need be then moves all of the files at once into their proper locations. Would make it easier for those people that are not very computer savy and have problems implementing haks/overrides.

They would of course have to unzip all of the haks into one folder (On desktop to make it easier no doubt) before running the batch file but you can just add in a ReadMe.txt that will give them those simple instructions.

(http://www.amiaworld.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=44682) <--- first of many to come.

Edit: Ah, nvm, I see a installer in there. Even if it is freakishly large compared to a batch file.

Ah good. I still say the 1kb batch file > 170mb installer. At least when it applies to PC users.

Well, I think the idea of a batch file is not necessarily easier to understand or smoother than extracting a zip archive. Many people get this "Ooo. DOS. Eighties. Command Line. Syntax Error. Quit." feeling when they see a batch file.

My bet is that dealing with archives > batch files these days.

But you are welcome to make one.

Ok, touche.

Ill throw one together if you feel it would ever really be used. The only advantage is download time.

I am not sure..

What if you are CEP updater? Does this Hak cover most of what is already in there?

Just I dont want to add more into the Override for it does cause a huge lag issue in time. Already the heads & hands override does a bit.

Not what I am asking. I am concerned it will interfere with what I have already. The CEP does not use override anymore its updater goes into direct information files in writing.

If I add more into the override folder. This will cause an influx of lag issues, which is very known to happen in transferred information.

I am asking what is all in now, for might have alot of it already installed in a smoother format without using override folder.

Sorry but Amia is not the only server I play.

I am asking the builder in layman terms of how this Hak works. Override or into correct files of the nwn program.

If you had actually read Disco's post and the instructions, your answer was already there.

I do have another question, since rather hard going through this thread in reading.

Are the heads, hand & feet going into this hak as well so we can clean up the override folder?

Tormak, I have read the instructions. I had concern of interference in clashing hak files to the program. Its a simple question that just needed a simple answer.

Now I have another simple question that could be answered by the builder.

Thank you

Itty

From what I seen in the hak files, the hands and heads are not included to save Download size of the haks.

And for anyone with CEP, this hak will not conflict at all. That's the great things about haks, they don't conflict unless some how the hak files had the same name but a different version. And ours are all named Amia.

Hey, I know you've already set up the HAK reminder message on login, but still wondering:

Is there a set date for when we're switching over, or we just playing it by Disco's ear for now?

Depends a bit on my agenda for the week. I think Tuesday, EU afternoon/USA morning.

I'll add a note about HAKs not conflicting.

No, the override heads and hands are not in. That would add another (absolutely required) 20-25 MB.

[edit: I lied: this HAK CAN conflict with head overrides if you managed to use heads that are not supported by the Amia headpack. No clue how you'd get them without DM help so I doubt it will be an issue.]

Heads included in the headpack are those new ones only accessible with DM help complied by Mahtan right?

Ummm... dunno what you exactly mean, but I have added quite a few monster heads that fit on the human type, and I put them in the gaps between the override headpack heads. So, if you for whatever reason had a head in those ranges (which I don't expect) you'd get a nice ork head or whatever now.

excellent!

now, i dunno whats wrong but for some reason it wont install for me. Might it have to do with Vista security. I load up the installer (the first one on the download place) and it goes to "do you want to install amia hak" so i press yes... then nothing

For Vista users, I'd think it would probably be a lot easier to get the 7z file. heh. It's not difficult to install. It's actually got the files already in "hak" and "tlk" folders already. All you have to do is select the folders, go into your NWN directory, and paste, then hit "Yes" for if you want to overwrite any files that may conflict. :D

There anyway to add in the Amia heads, hand & feet back to main download you have? Seriously love to clean the override folder that is just from Amia only.

Optional Components are a gimmick Amia has been proud of for years. Not to mention the hak is already approaching 100mb's on the installer, anymore and it would probably be unacceptable.

Question that is Probably Really Stupid!!

Quote:
..and the .tlk file goes in the /tlk/ folder

So that is from me looking at the download for the HAK pack and so I naturally go browsing my NWN folders to find /hak/ and /tlk/ section folders.

... I cannot find a "tlk" folder anywhere. Do I need to make it? Or am I utterly blind?

I updated the haks. If you already downloaded you just need this small file:

Mind that I also updated the 11 parts archive. If you were downloading parts and didn't finish before this post you'll have to start again.

This fixes the shield and makes some new items smaller so garden gnomes can also use them.

The other issues I can't fix.

This is important, folks. If you downloaded the hak files before the 23rd you should download the little file above and swap your amia_a.hak file. You can easily spot if you got the right one by looking at the creation dates of the files: if all 4 haks have the same date (the 20th, out of the top of my head) you got the old amia_a.hak.

Yes. All the links go to the same files. These files have been available for 5 days now and I made a change halfway. Instead of forcing everybody to redownload the whole lot again I added a separate update for early adopters. If you downloaded stuff after you got the prompt inside the game you are fine, if you did it before the prompt you probably need the update.

Mind that the update changes a few details. You'll probably not notice a thing if you accidentally keep the old one.

Is the test server up still?
